Because of this song, among other things, the album on which the song was released was placed on the Index for Media Harmful to Young People in Germany. As a result, it could neither be advertised nor visibly displayed on retailers' shelves. Rammstein then sued the authorities, won and was awarded damages. The whole story about the censorship of the album led to the curiosity that Rammstein is the only band in Germany that had an album at number one in the charts that was on the index at the same time.
There is a twist in the song. At first it seems to be about inflicting pain on someone else, but in the end it turns out to be about a person's desire to have pain inflicted on them.

Absolutely. Saw them last year in NJ, best concert I’ve ever seen
saw them in San Antonio, Texas and it was the craziest shit I'd ever seen. As soon as the music kicked off , the bass and overall sound hit me so hard that I seriously felt that I may die of a heart attack or some other thing , but at the same time, I was ok with that because I was getting to live my best life in that moment and seeing fucking Rammstein !!!
I’ve always heard the name of this band but first song all the way through, good show! I’m so proud for them that they are representing their country and language with some sick music 🎶 the fans are super into it also!

I don't know what their lyrics mean - but that's a plus for me. I actually don't want to know. It means I get to choose what they mean each time I listen.
Plus - Sometimes lyrics can be distracting, especially if I'm working.
You really should look up their lyrics. They cover everything from love, sex, cannibalism, bdsm, true stories of horror and natural disasters to simple anthems about the band itself. Some of the most interesting lyrics you'll find

For information, Till, the lead singer, has a diploma in "fireworks". He's the designer of every fireworks and flame thrower in their shows. There's even a venue in Paris, back in the days, where the venue started to burn because of the many flames they used. Since then, the venue banned the usage of flames throwers afterwards :D

Rammstein is “Neue Deutsche Härte”. „Neue Deutsche Härte“(NDH) is a German term that refers to a genre of rock music, industrial metal, that originated in Germany and Austria in the 1990s. The term translates to “New German Hardness” in English. Rammstein's songs are often sung classically with piano or orchestra, by many cover bands and often as cover songs by women. The lyrics of the songs are mostly poetic and cover all areas of a person. Sometimes it can be a bit polarizing because there are different morals and freedoms in the world. It's the freedom of the band to play with these things. However, you can find yourself in at least one Rammstein song. Other bands include: „Lindemann“, „Stahlmann“, „Eisbrecher“, „Oomph!“, „Null Positiv“, or more in the gothic style „Umbra et Imago“ (Gothic eroticism) and „ASP“.

On each tour they come up with a little 'skit' where Til, the lead singer horribly 'murders' they keyboard player. It's just a bit of theatre they have done for a long time.
On on tour Til throws him into a giant cooking pot and blasts a flamethrower at it.
Don't worry about Till up there! He clicks his boot into a kind of brace, which is attached to the platform so he can't fall off!

Ich tu dir Weh is pronounced Ich tu dir Veh as the W is pronounced as a V in German. I laughed when you said about the Fireworkist that does the fire and the fireworks, the proper pronunciation for someone who deals with those is called a PYRO TECHNICIAN and the explosions, fire, sparklers plus other things that he uses is called PYROTECHNICS.
