One of THE best, creepiest and most beautiful songs, not only by Rammstein, but in general. However, I agree that you have to listen to the studio version. It is experience that you, definitely, shouldn't miss. 🖤

A versão de estúdio é a melhor, totalmente macabra e te deixa perturbado porque o sentimento é passado de maneira tão direta que ela "machuca"

Till Lindemann is actually real poet, publishing his own poetry in German. And that can be heard in the lyrics of Rammstein songs. They are very dark, yet somehow very beautifull at the same time. Only Rammstein is able to do that.

The studio version of Puppe is the one Rammstein song that my adult son always asks me to switch off. Till's delivery on it is at another level of harrowing altogether. The live performance is outstanding, the props, the acting (Till as the young boy sucking his thumb and toddling like a small child and then mimicking what he's seen through the keyhole), the pyro on their own tell the story but the Till's delivery progressing from calm and accepting to rage-filled is a treat for the ears. The music, unsettling from the start, brutal when that drop comes and ending on an even more unsettling note. The use of black ash to signify death is so, so clever-you're left in no doubt that things have not ended well here. Glorious but punching the listener between the eyes and wrenching at your soul with the desperate screaming. Outstanding.

I've seen Puppe live (16th of this May in Prague), and there's a lot that this video doesn't capture. The performance, how much the sudden change of a demeanor and music in the middle hits, camera is hidden in the stroller, so you see on screens the creepy twisted face of a doll framed firstly in flames, then in black confetti that reminds a lot of swarms of insects, all podium drowned in sickly green light... It's bomb, I loved this song before, but after actually seeing live in person, this is just OMG.

I love how you feel about music, I saw your reaction to Deutschland and I've been watching all your Rammstein videos for two hours; it is very difficult to find someone who not only heard the music but felt it, and it is beautiful when you hear and feel it; with Rammstein sometimes I see people who only say that it sounds very good (and he is very right) but I feel that they lose that background that there is, both in their lyrics and what they mean, which is something that I love about them and I don't I can describe better than you do, his lyrics are provocative poems that make you think and reason, they tell very direct truths and also express feelings and desires and they do it in a raw way without censoring anything; their last album i loved there are two songs there that are so beautiful Was Ich Liebe and Diamant i would like you to listen to them; I like that you not only stay with what you heard but that you go further, you search and inform yourself, I don't know you but keep it up, I think there is nothing better in life than being natural and feeling, greetings from Mexico (sorry for me English).

Being Rammstein’s prop designer must be a hell of a job.
“Yes, we need a baby stroller that catches fire with a demon baby in it, oh and a giant pot so that we can cook our keyboard player on stage, and a giant pair of steel angel wings that spit fire, oh don’t forget the firebreathing masks, also a crossbow that sparks up, oh and also a giant pen!s device used to spray the audience in white foam. Got it?”

hin case the video is not translated:
When the sister must go to work
      Locks me in a room
      Gives me a doll
And i am not alone anymore
When sister must go to work
      She doesn't use the train
Her work place is not far
It is the room next door
Dark clouds gather in the sky
      I nicely take my medicine
And wait here in my bed
      Until the sun goes down
      They come and go
      Sometimes as couples too
      Late birds sing
      And sister screams
Dark clouds gather in the sky
      I nicely take my medicine
And wait here in my bed
      Until the sun goes down
And then I tear off the doll's head
Then I tear off the doll's head
Yeah I bite off the doll's neck
      I don't feel good
And then I tear off the doll's head
Yeah I tear off the doll's head
And then I bite off the doll's neck
      I don't feel good, no

      Dam dam
When sister is indulged in the work
The light in the window is red
      I look through the keyhole
      And a hit, she's dead
And now I tear off the doll's head
Yes, I tear off the doll's head
And then I bite off the doll's neck

My take: it´s a song about how violence and cruelty not only destroys children´s souls but also often takes possession of the person they grow up to be - often overshadowing their whole life. The little boy pulls that dolls head of, adding:"now I feel fine". He can´t process his feelings of inner torture other than giving torture cause he´s only experienced pain and despair. I think the act is a metaphor: That baby is the soul of Til´s character who´s now trying to get rid of the pain by setting fire himself. It´s as dark as it can get. The pain and desperate anger in Til´s voice is even more audible and chilling in the studio version since the sound on this one is not that great.

The puppet is an archetype for love and hate. A puppy is normally a positive gift, but in this song resembles the hate and rage the boy (or girl, would be even more dusturbing) feels towards the guys using the sister as a sextoy. As a young person you dont know exactly whats going on but you have the idea that something is not right.the medicine given by his sister obviously is just a tool to calm down and get through the night safely with his mind raging with negative thoughts (the dark clouds are the negative thoughts for me) and the birds screaming the sublimal message for bad news or warning what is to come (the death of her that special night)The puppy is part of his sister he keeps when being alone to calm down, but here it is perverted into the exact opposite.the puppy for me also is a symbol for hate towards the sister probably, because she is originally the source of his anger doing what she does or has got to do (for earning money). Thats why (at least for me) why the lyrics change to ,,jetzt geht es mir gut'' ..(now i feel good) Till indicates here that the boy finally gets relief. Notice he first sings ,,mir geht es nicht gut'' (i dont feel good). So he really feels that pressure relief when she died. Thats my thought

  • @wolfgangweller1475
    @wolfgangweller1475 2 роки тому +25

Oh je, the meaning behind the lyrics is, a young boy lives with his sister, who is a prostitute, and whenever she has clients he is left alone in another room with a doll (Puppe), and is taking his medicine. When he spies through the door and sees how a client kill his sister, he tears the head of the doll off, tears it apart, because he does not feel so good....and the tearing apart (destruction) of the doll made him feel better. It's actually a very very sad song about a child with traumatic experiences and his reactions thereof. The live show is not really proper to the meaning, but I consider it still very good and I am so happy that they play it live. Its one of the highlights of their show. Everybody loves the song, despite never being released as a single.

    • @Liannin
      @Liannin 2 роки тому +4

Jup! I always have thought the child was confused about the doll and it was an actual baby born to his sister, but because brother doesn't have a good hold on reality, he doesn't recognize the baby as a human and kills it in trauma. The song is both dark and sad. Soooo gut, aber so erschreckend.

Wiener Blut is inspired by the kidnapping/incest case of Amstetten in Austria. Before releasing the song with their "Liebe ist für alle da" Album back in 2009, the band visited the survivor and asked her for permission to publish the song. Apparently they were all deeply moved by that encounter.

Yes, thank you, puppe means doll. There is no baby just the doll, the sister's representation, both in the lyrics and in the stage performance, in true Rammstein artistry.

The song uses text from Wenn Mutti spät zur Arbeit geht, a poem by Till Lindemann, for the song the lyrics altered a little, the song being about a sister rather than a mother

I think of it as a post WWII song. The parentless children after the war. The sister is feeding them. The boy is so lost with parents dead and seeing his sister getting screwed, beat, abused in so many ways until she was killed now with nothing, he rips off the head ..... Poor children. Makes me feel sad but it's my favorite Rammstein song

I could be wrong but it looks to me that in the beginning he meets his sisters creepy "clients". It's very haunting.
The black confetti reminds me of the movie The Green Mile, where the actor releases all the evil and the bad feelings in a swarm of flies.
