My understanding you have to use a hole saw, they do sell a ribbon delete it's like $89. It's a aluminum piece that goes inside where the ribbon was with a mounting flange.

I thought it was for the VX but I guess it's for the V1,EX. R&D Intake Manifold Ribbon Delete Kit was developed to increase airflow into and through the intake system by relieving restriction. The R&D Intake Manifold Sleeve replaces the OEM intake ribbon producing a 40 CFM increase in air flow. The R&D billet sleeve mounts between the intake manifold and the throttle body creating a superior Venturi effect. The R&D Intake Kit will add low end and mid range throttle response, and a full 100 plus rpms to top end performance. The R&D Intake sleeve is an absolute must have part to remove intake restrictions before contemplating other power adding parts to the Yamaha TR1 engine. True horsepower gains on the Yamaha start right here with the R&D Intake Sleeve. More airflow will equal more power. Note: The Kit comes complete with install jig to cut out the OEM ribbon which is molded into the plastic manifold. A 2.750” hole saw (required) is sold separately or available at your local hardware store.
Gunnereddie390 Gunnereddie390 my only worry is you can’t put it back on in case you need to take it back to the dealer an you warranty will be voided in case something happens
I got a 2016 Yamaha VX Deluxe with the same tr1 engine not trying to make it go 70mph,just trying to make it run a little better than Factory but you can take it out I just did mine took about an hour it just takes patience.
Alex Perez what was the trick you use to do it? The only reason I haven’t try hard enough is because my warranty, is not like the others that you can just put it back on.
I just use a flat head and pry the edges out until I got enough out to grab with pliers, just got to do it slowly because the intake manifold is plastic so if you pry too hard you might crack the plastic but it just takes patience, I also have extended warranty but if it doesn't cover for some reason my buddy owns a shop out here nothing that I can't or he can't fix. They don't sell too much for the tr1 engine and doing research didn't find anything so just doing a couple things custom you can say. Next thing I'm doing exhaust. You can email me for more questions if you want and I can show you pictures of mine. Alex239a.p74@gmail.com
Well I don't know on its own. But with the cold air intake that I did right after and the exhuast that u did the other will. It made a huge difference in the low the mid range. I raced my friend who has one just like mine. With the exhuast mod, I beat him off the line and very, very slowly was pulling away and that's all it took. With the cold air and Robin delete. I killed him off the line and was pulling away from him much more than the first time we raced.

Before you begin on the edges poke a hole through the center.... Drilling will have to be your last resort if your having a tough time pulling s hole. Metal pieces will fall inside the manifold. The good thing is that it will lay at the bottom, so you can vacuum it up real easy. Just make sure you vacuum it really well. Now You have to be extremely patient and determined. Loosen up the edges a little bit at a time untill it begins to move out Ward and around little bit. When your able to, spin it until you are able to make it side ways... In others words the side on the screen is facing out now. Grab something to sick inside that hole now so the screen won't fall inside the manifold ( like mine did lol) and you'll have to fish it out (like I had to do) Once you have something sticking through that hole you made bent the edges in or squash the sides. I've you do that the screen shouldn't be completely round anymore. If you can get it shipped like an egg or crush the edges in enough to where you can get a pair of vise grips and pull it out of the round hole. I don't know if this helps or just confused you lol. I would say it picked up a little bit more than stock little bit louder sounds nice. I like it so far
Hi! You were able to take off ribbon delete?
YohuswaldBass Blakely i wasn’t able to, for what i have researched you have to destroy it to take it out
Has anyone done a cold air intake on the EX? Tr1
I did a custom intake and works great gained about 2mph
Yoi Wrx I did an EXR intake grate and Riva ride plate. So far I’ve seen 53.8 mph. I wonder of the cold air will do anything more.
There is a procedure you need to read if you don’t know how to do it and you sure dont

I think it's role is to prevent huge amounts of water entering the intake if something happens...but I would take it out too😂
Once is off the rpms go a lot higher And you gain about 1-2mph top speed
