I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (March 6, Transfiguration of Our Lord), we sang this as our Hymn of the Day. It is #838 in Evangelical Lutheran Worshhip.
I'm from Nebraska our Church also sang it.

We use to sing this at our Kennedy Christmas Concert in Bloomington Minnesota. The auditorium was pitch dark. Mr Bontrager held a lighted baton . That was all you could see and we would start this song. as we went along the lights would slowly come up relieving Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the Wise men, Stables and a host of real animals including a donkey. It was VERY spectacular and still brings a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat.
Sadly. The atheists voice stopped all this in 1971. We were then left with silly songs to sing like, I'm Getting Nuttin for Christmas, Rubber Ducky and others. No more to be taught by or get a chance to sing the great songs from, Mendelssohn, Handel and such.

I had a similar reaction. Religion has caused centuries of suffering in the world and continues to do so. The Middle East and North Africa is writing its' own Fox's Book of Martyrs as we speak. I believe that what Polelover44 may have had in mind was this

@thomasbryn1 the errors were minor (missing letters, putting in an extra letter). The message is the same. Don't forget that Matthew and Mark and Luke were all three different people (so they might have used different styles). I asked quite a few people and looked into what you said. I do not wish to have tempers flare (just a discussion that's all).

God gives peace. Apologetics is helpful at times but a 5 year old child can be saved without any apologeticst. @IanLoewen MAthew and MARK have sections that are word for word exactly the same .Most scholars accept that Mathew ans Mark were both derived from a lost document called Q document. How can MATHEW and MARK write the same exactly word for word??
