The idle feature has been working great for the last 8 years and still going strong. It's a good feature when you go to gather logs to put on the splitter. A tank of fuel lasts all day of splitting.
On the off chance anyone is still watching this, I work for Northern and have assembled hundreds of these. Follow the directions. They are correct. Better yet just pay the assembly fee and let us do it for you.
Before starting engine it is very important to pull over engine without starting to get oil into the hydraulic pump so isn't running dry a high rpm. This can easily toast the pump. No fun there,WAH.
Thanks for the video. I did the first half today. Have to put the I beam and hydraulics on tomorrow. This did help!!
Nice job on the video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and what you learned.

The reason it took less hydraulic oil than specified is because you hadn't cycled the cylinder yet.
Do you have enough slack in the throttle cable to stand it upright? Mine has the Kohler engine, and the throttle cable seems too short.
Yes, but the hydraulic hose is a little tight when stood up.
Anyone know where I can get a seal kit for the Hydraulic cylinder for the 30 ton, mine is starting to weep fluid. Northstar does not sell a seal kit.
Hows it been long term?
Still works fine. He has upgraded his design so you do not need to disconnect hoses when you install the new ones.
Wouldn't it make sense THEY have a person who does this all the time, let HIM assemble it?
It requires assembly. YOU cannot buy it assembled from HIM.
I wonder why Ford didn't sell me my F250 powerstroke in pieces ???

County line at tractor supply are Chinese import. Northstar American made. Support your country by America made.
