@@robertd.7060 I don't think you understood the point I made and even tried to insult Matt Ryan by comparing his career to guys like John Hadl and Norm Snead. You're trying to talk about previous record holders from the standpoint of the future looking back. I'm talking about someone etching their name in history (with a much more impressive resume than the John's and Snead you listed) in the present. Why praise Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady for holding the records now? Cuz apparently this is about as meaningful as finding out how many pick sixes you've thrown (Drew Brees has the most with 25 by the way). Heck, when Favre retired in 2010, he racked up the most wins in NFL history and people called him a loser. We like to say that this matters, but when another name holds the title, now it becomes pointless. When Steve Largent had the record for most receiving yards and catches and TD's for a WR, did people say that his records aren't impressive? Yet, people constantly praise Jerry Rice for holding the same records, so what if I said that his stats don't matter? What if I said that because Jerry Rice now holds the records we need to take out Steve Largent from the Hall of Fame? I'll look wrong from the standpoint of the public, right? And that's why I don't understand the reasoning to tear down the reputation of a player when you get no benefit from it. Records are meant to be broken and the game has changed, sure, but why try to diminish the career of someone going for all time records that they can reach? And as a side point, the L in AFL stands for League

I remember being 10 yesterday old and fran tarkenton holding the record and I thought he was a GOD.....I LOVE HOW THE GAME HAS EVOLVED
2020: Phillip Rivers ended his career in fifth place and never played in the Super Bowl.
Who would have thought that a forgettable Stan Humphries would be the only San Diego QB to lead the Chargers to the Super Bowl? Let's hope that Justin Herbert can turn that around.
Remember when it took 4 years to pass for 5000 yards lol
McNabb made a nice 1 seconds appearance😂
This graphic concept is amazing!
Brees and Brady hit and it was lightning to the damn top. Impressive.
My favorite is Aaron rogers over 400 tds with less than 100 ints. Mans a fucking magician with the ball
He’s a choker though.
Great work on these stats!
I hope Eli Manning gets into the HOF too. He definitely wasn't as good as Peyton, but you cannot deny that he's Tom Brady's father and possibly Patrick Mahomes' grandfather.
He won't be first ballot but I suspect within 5 years he'll get in.
Two Super Bowl rings and he’s a QB, he will get in easy.
One of five players in NFL history to have 2+ Super Bowl MVP's. Stone cold lock for the HoF.
He's gonna be a somewhat controversial Hall of Fame candidate, but he *should* get it. His numbers and accolades compare very favorably to guys who are already in
I always imagined that Peyton's room was spic-and-span, while Eli's room was dirty af.
Man, you can see just when Elway got a modern-thinking coach. Crawling up the list for years then suddenly shooting up like crazy.
Man the 90s was such a great decade
Drew Brees is my favorite QB the dedication and will power he had gives me hope.
Excellent video! Great work 👍
Brees is such a boss. Doing all this with a busted shoulder. Man's a legend
@@1NumeroUno - That's exactly my point. He had an injury that the majority of doctors thought would be career ending. Not only did he come back from his busted shoulder, he broke record after record doing it. And as a undersized QB compared to others, he had to find throwing lanes and predict where his receiver's would go. The man's a legend
@@self-righteousideologue9398 Brees is solid, but if, for example, Marino had played under post 2007 offense-friendly rules, Brees would NEVER have passed him. Brees was good, but he had rule advantages that his predecessors didnt.
@@ohhellyeah2878 I agree, unpopular as it may be, Brees is somewhat overrated in my opinion. I would take 3 or 4 qb's before him.
@@shauncasey8295 #or 4 QBs before him means he's one of the 5 greatest QBs of all time.
This is oddly relaxing.
If you add the professional years that Warren Moon played in the pro Canadian League he would be way up there
Shoulda read this before I put mine in. Even if you devalue (like the dollar LOL) with respect to field and rules he'd still be.
I remembered I was at the Purdue at USC game. Brees vs Carson (2nd half), didn't think much of it at the time.
This is the shit I live for. You've won my sub :)
These graphs always trip me out especially the sports ones
04 was a heck of a draft. 3 Qbs here.
Marino was a beast back in his day
These videos make me thankful for 2x speed
How awesome has it been to watch Brady, Brees and P. Manning!? The accuracy and ability to read the defense was phenomenal!
Ol' Norm Snead shows up here for a few years. I got his autograph when I was a kid - Centuries Ago .......
Norm Snead played a long time. Taken in the same draft as Fran Tarkenton, and ironically involved in a trade for him later on. Didn't have as good of a career though.
This one thee most interesting videos I've seen 👏
We’re gonna miss drew
Have to can all these records now that there is a 17 game season 😤.
All NFL rules favoring the passing offense has had a larger impact. A player is still going to have to play a long time to get up to Brady/Breese territory. Schedule essentially is turning a 16 years career into 17 years. Not many Qb's have ever played for 16 years at a high level, although it is certainly becoming more common with modern training and medicine.
Who cares the records were ruined when they changed it from 12 game to 14 to 16 to now 17 the nfl has always been like this
Nobody talking about matty ice on his way to the top 5
Cant believe Tarkenton still ranks 6th when he played almost his whole career in 14 game seasons and the rules didn't favor passing or protect QB's .
He doesn’t. He’s 13th.
@@turtlevader yea I didn't notice that it was a updating list haha my bad .
@@ThatCarGuy Sure it does. Are you blind?
Not many modern QBs would have done as well earlier, Brady defiantly would have as his ability to read defenses and decision making alone would have far outclassed the older school defenses. Defenses are so much more sophisticated now days and yet his trade mark is his ability to read them faster than they can move and being stupid accurate with his intent. Brady is also A-ok throwing the ball away to live another down which would help him a lot. And if you watched that 2015 AFC champ game (hit 22x in the pocket) and still almost won it with a depleted offense he can definitely hang with the old school. The 2000's after all was a very smash mouth era "he got jacked up!!!"
Rodgers would have been pretty ok as well though he game is based on the 8seconds after the 5seconds he had in the pocket and if defenses have more room to hit he's definitely taking a bigger beating.
Peyton in a non salary cap era on a team like the 49ers would have 3x the QB Montana was easily atleast in the regular season, but if he ended up on a team that couldn't buy him the best of everything he may have a hard time.
It's hard to say for Brees, he's had a loaded offense that played in a lot of catch-up ball so his states are a bit inflated as teams play softer defense when their up by a lot late.
John elway today would do a bit better today as he's the Superior version of Rodgers.
Warren moon would actually be allowed to play in the NFL earlier in his career so he would have much better maybe all time leader numbers.
Tarkenton held the passing yards record for 20 years? Damn.
And still #13 all time. Incredibly impressive based on how different the game is.
If Warren Moon’s combine passing yards were included ( while he was an allowed to play quarterback in the NFL) he would surpass everyone’s total.... 70,553 total passing yards!!!!!
I'd still take Julian Edelman as one of my starting 4 wide outs
Best video yet!!!
Amazing that 7 of the Top 15 quarterbacks on the final list have never won a Super Bowl. Great video
Fran Tarkenton Dude! To still be on the list is amazing!
Warren moon aswell
This is awesome
Watching brees go up. Fire 🔥
Fran Tarkenton was in first for almost 20 years, then stayed in the top 10 for 40 years after retiring. Shows how long it took for other teams to have their own “Fran Tarkenton” and many teams still haven’t had a franchise QB that was on or above his level while the Packers had 2 and the Colts had 3 if you count Unitas and Luck. And technically the Broncos had 2, in terms of starters, but not in terms of franchise yards.
"Football is first and foremost a running game, that will never change" - Vince Lombardi
@@darbsevens77 I agree. I haven't watched the pros, especially, for years. Only college. And even that is fading in my eyes. 😢😢.
All things considered, Tarkenton being 13th in '20 is prob the most impressive part of this. The fact Eli is 8th, speaks to the era.
Wish I could see what Jim Kelly and Dan Marino would look like in today's game.
That 2004 QB draft class though...
Tom almost has the record in yards when hes taking his foot off the gas in the 4th quarter 80% of the time. That's an accomplishment.
When Brady retires he will have most passing touch down most passing yards he has every record u can think of
He already has the most passing tds but if PM keeps playing like he is now, in like 10-15yrs he gonna break all those records.
@@SUPERSTREETx That is a very big if. Hard to stay healthy. Hard to keep adjusting as defenses figure you out. Hard for the team around to stay great as your salary eats more and more of the cap. May be great fun to watch him try, happy to root for him - great young man. But the odds his over all career matches Brady's are not great.
@@rodc4334 yea fr Biden stole the election.
@@SUPERSTREETx The NFL rules keep moving toward favoring offense and passing in particular, so sooner or later all passing records will probably be broken. If the rules had remained constant it would have been very hard to eclipse TB12.
@@rodc4334 Hard to stay healthy, huh? Have we had any quality starting QB's over the age of 36 in the 60's-90's? Yet we have Brady, Ben, Rodgers, Ryan, Brees and Rivers the previous season still starting for their teams as they're either approaching 40 or over it. If anything because of rule changes and more safety consideration (except for adding an extra game) it's never been easier for a QB to try to maintain health as long as the team takes care of them (I'm looking at you, Colts!).
very good thank you
Slinging Sammy Baugh, first to 10,000 yards and first to 20,000 as well. Was the one that made people sit up and take notice that this newfangled forward pass just might be an effective offensive weapon!
Y.A Tittle said Sammy Baugh was his idol
@@Jsteazethetruth Y.A. was pretty good himself!
@@moeball740 pretty good? When he retired he broke every single passing record. Still holds the record for most td passes in a game. Still has the single seasons td passing record for the ny giants. They retired his number. He is credited with the term “alley oop in” sports, 7 time pro bowler. 3 time mvp. Took the giants to three straight championships. Lost against vince lombardis packers. First football player on the cover of sports illustrated. Dudes a hall of famer. If he won just one of those championships he’d be on every top 10 quarterback list.
Impressive.
My man Arnie was killing back in the day
Sammy Baugh also played defensive back and punter.
Brees: "I have 1,100yds more than Brady"
Brady: "and I take that personally"
Joke is old man like the “hold my beer” old jokes
this needs to be updated
Hey, did the guys call Bernie Masterson “Bat”?
Matt Ryan underrated
This is the best thing
Curious what this list can look like 5-10 years from now as all the rules have made pass happy stats explode(and not counting there is a 17th game now).
Brady will own this record by mid season
Ya unfortunately smh 🤦♂️
Matt Ryan has the potential to be 5th in all time passing yards in NFL History when it's all said and done for him, surpassing Dan Marino and Philip Rivers and only Rodgers and Ben would make him be 6th or 7th (but given Rodgers and Ben are more injury prone QB's than Matt is, it'll be interesting to see what plays out), and only then will people say that passing yards never mattered anyways 🤦
Noah Tindell .... It don't , just ask John HadL , John Brodie , Norm Snead & Jim Hart , when they retired , all were in Top 5 at that time ? HadL like a lot of the AFL league players get a REAL BAD rap , when it comes to HOF votes , period ! Now to me , the 2 John's & Hart for sure & a case for Snead could be made , too , playing for some BAD Redskins teams as they were called then .
I can’t decide if Vinnie Testaverde was good or not. He’s a leader in all categories, both good and bad. So...good enough to stay around for a long, long time. But I’ve never seen anyone else be on so many all-time lists who won’t ever be in the HOF.
