sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Eric Joel instablaster ;)
@Jake Alexis i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Jake Alexis it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Eric Joel happy to help :)
The beauty of a Decked system is that it doubles as a nice, flat sleeping platform.
Good for you for buying pelican cases I’ve been doing photography since I’m a kid and I’m nearly 50 years old and I am on 12 pelican cases for camera gear from small ones to very very large ones and they’ve never ever let me down so yeah they are easily worth the money they’re asking for these products. So to the people who can’t afford them out there I am a blue-collar worker I don’t make much money also do was save my pennies until I can afford to buy a decent quality products it’s just that simple. Sometimes you have to give up something for a little while to buy something else you want it’s just reality of the world a lot of us live in. Buying buying a high-end decent quality product that makes you feel Good and it is what you wanted is not a bad thing and it doesn’t make you a bad person.
17:58 Great video. Though I don’t understand why people have so much salt over what you buy. I buy the best I can afford. Their is always something better on the market.
THanks. Yeah... I think the internet is just full of opinions and a lot of people love to disagree.
Your explanations are clear and easy to understand. It doesn’t feel like you are “selling” one over another. Just describing what they each do. I really appreciate your channel. 👍
Thanks for the feedback... We hope to keep putting out honest and helpful content in the future. Now If I could just get faster at video editing
I told you your channel is going to blow up! BFG reaching out to you is awesome man! Keep up the good work.
BFG deserves a lot of credit... they just sent a great giveaway and didn't ask for anything in return... just supporting the Overland community.
So glad I found this site. Nathan is objective articulate and trustworthy. Lot of fun to listen to. Theres the weekend warriors and the month long overlanders but fon't forget us boondockers - people on the road full-time. We're watching too.😃
17:57 Nice video on different options on how to store your cargo. I have used Pelican and Storm Case who is now owned by Pelican in the past for work. They are nice and durable. One thing I would like to point out is that Pelican will replace parts that get damaged on your case as part of the warranty which is pretty cool.
I've been giving the Decked drawers serious consideration, but your review was the final push I needed to convince me they are exactly what I need going forward. Thanks!
I love mine so much... In the White Tundra I can't fit them because of the Long Travel Bed frame... It is the number 1 thing I miss. They are so awesome for organization.
We have a WINNER - I exported the first 100 entry comments to a spreadsheet and then used numbergenerator.org to pull a random number... it was 33 if you are curious. AUSTIN L. WRITE is our WINNER. Enjoy the RC car and other BFGoodrich goodies...
Seeing how the Pelican mounts to the top of the truck and needing to get up on top was great to see - thanks for showing the use.
Yeah that is probably a good thing for people to realize... it is very convenient... but you do have to be able to get up there and reach over it to unlatch it. Glad it was helpful... thanks for watching.
Thank you sir. I had the Pelican deck system in my cart and was ready to spend some hard cash..then I saw this review. Saved me a few hundred bucks. I'll wait for a later version for the Pelican.
Bomb @ 17:58! This was helpful to consider removable cases other than the decked system so I can still feel confident pushing limits off-roading, throwing a dirt bike in or anything else I’d need my full bed for. Great video!
Yeah... I think this is the one thing Pelican figured out really well... what if I want Semi permanent storage but freedom take out easily when I want. One quick not on the Decked system... You can definitely put a dirt bike on top of it... those things are tough!.. which is what makes them a little heavy... 🤷♂️
17:58 As a kid of the ‘80s that truck calls out to me. Keep the content coming!
Same... loved those trucks so much.
:30! That RC truck is amazing!
Home run! I add a rubber seal the my Plano cases to keep dust out. I take the bar off my saw to fit in a Plano, 2 minute job to reattach. Decked system rules. I may pick up a Pelican case, love the Pelican cooler.
I will have to try that on the Plano cases... they are amazingly good even without.
One thing I noticed about overlanding enthusiasts is that they have more to say than Louis, Clark and Sacagawea. Thanks for the info.
I like the action packers.
Excellent review. Decked/Cargo cases was my first search. You actually thoroughly compared the utility of both. As I was wondering whether I could mount Pelican cases on the Deck... You fully answered my question. 😎
I like the decked system but when I take my family we have like 4 large bags that need to go in the bed and I like to use a roll n lock cover to secure the bags and protect from weather. Not enough height left between decked system and bottom of roll n lock cover. I think my solution may be cross bars over the bed and using ROAM 95L on top to store equipment.
I have been won over by the shells… like the GFC for this reason.
By far the most informative over landing channel on UA-cam
Thanks Dave... We will try and keep getting good content out. It has been really fun putting this stuff out and interacting with the Overland Community... so many cool people.
@@OutdoorAuto Thanks for doing what you do
17:58 I know I’m late, my first truck was a 1983 Toyota, Great truck!!.
You are still in... haven’t hit 100 entries yet... hopefully we can get there and do the drawing tonight.
Awesome!, thank you.BTW I appreciate the vids
17:58 5x boys in this household would love that RC car! Keep up the great videos!!
Oh Man... you guys would put it to good use. Good luck in the drawing.
Hey. I had 2 brackets that would come open out of 4. I was initially really concerned but I figured it out and came to the same conclusion as you. I solved it easily by bending with pliers as well. Though I will say if you have security concerns you can also get the TSA luggage locks to secure them and ensure they won't come open or someone won't take them while you're in the grocery store.
It’s always nice to hear from other people so I know I’m not the only one. Absolutely agree about the locks... good for peace of mind.
17:57-18:10 it’s all about the investment pelican case 👍🏻 In their natural environment
Pelican checks all the convenience boxes for sure... if you do a lot of overlanding or especially if you are on the road permanently... the Cargo cases would be a dream.
Hey Nathan, I just stumbled across your video while checking out the Pelican brand cargo boxes online. Nice video, thanks man.
So from the "for what it's worth corner", I really like the Pelican cases b-u-u-u-t, just like the Roam cases, they are a bit pricey, unfortunately.
"Meanwhile, back at the ranch," I travel months at a time and actually like yourself, have been using the Plano brand trunks. To be more specific, I use the 108qt. "Heavy-Duty Sportsman Trunk". These trunks are a bit more sturdy than the regular Plano trunks and I haven't experienced any issues with them yet. (Knock on wood). I strap them onto my Gobi Stealth roof rack and have been through some pretty good down pours and dusty environments with no leaks or dust issues and that's even before I added some weather stripping to the channel on the lids. The weather stripping (md Auto & Marine Rubber Weather Seal - 5/16" H x 23/64" W x 17' L, purchased at Home Depot), fit perfectly in the lid channel and has created an even better seal.
The "heavy-duty" trunks also have four latches, two latches on each "long" side of the box along with the 4 lock holes. They also have two wheels on one end and a handle on the other, so that you can pull the trunk around instead of carrying them. Which I've found to be nice. Yes, the latches are still "plastic", so you do need to exercise some amount of care when operating them. Especially, if you add the weather stripping like I did. (Things get a little tight).
All-in-all, for the price (around $40.00 each unless you luck out like I did and find them at Cabela's for $24.00 ea.), I think that they're a good bargain for those of us who have to keep the budget in mind.
Well then, why am I looking at other solutions? Thanks for asking, I'll tell you why. ;-) I'd actually like to find something with a little "lower profile" (less drag), than these Plano boxes, but still with decent storage space available. At approximately 14" in height, that's a lot of head-wind you hit. Especially, on windy & rainy days. Which doesn't help on the "mpg's" if you know what I mean. So as I had mentioned earlier, I'm pretty interested the Pelican brand cargo cases, just kind of having a hard time making that leap as far as their prices are concerned. What are the actual sizes of the Pelican cases that you've used so far? Thanks.
A mix would likely be the best option, spend money on the everyday uses then get the cheap stuff for the things you dont use that often. Easy access while tied down for what you use often, cheap but more work for the stuff you dont...
Big shout out to @BFGoodrich for sponsoring this Video's Giveaway. They were super generous and didn't ask for anything in return. It is Baja 1000 Week this week so I bet if you check out their channel they will have a lot of amazing videos going up this week.
Weird question, what shoes are those when your climbing on the truck @ 23:12?
@@Anthony-gm4oz those are the Vivo Barefoot men’s tracker boots.
17:58 I am glad I found this over-land-ing channel. Lol I will be saving up for the pelican cargo cases.
I am glad you found it too... Hopefully it is helpful in some way and doesn't just burn a hole in your pocket.
17:56-18:10 Great information bud 🤜🤛 I’m just starting off with my tundra and every bit of information your giving is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Awesome... I love my Tundra. Super capable trucks, even stock. Hopefully the stuff in here helps you get out there and do some exploring.
17:58 ... the wow this is exactly what I need now that I’ve moved my tent around and freed up some space on the roof rack. Thanks for the videos ❤️
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
17‘57” I saw your logo at 17:57. It’s so nice to see the comparison of different brand, to paying more money doesn’t always get better quality.
What do you think about this side opening Yakima cargo boxes that are meant to sit on top of sedans? I have a mid height bed rack that I’m thinking of mounting one on there and I figured they have more space and opening from the side helps with loading/unloading. Since I’m a ground tent type of guy I have that rail space available for it.
Great info. My experience with front runner. (Tent, custom made rear Land Rover drawer system and some others on a bulk buy) all of their stuff fails. Before the warranty. I absolutely despise front runner and went out of my way to send them all the broken stuff for hundreds in shipping to show their Chinese junk for top$ fails. And their warranty …. Lack there of. Don’t ever put faith in. Front runner. I spent $8k and lost in all within a year.
17:58 Thanks for the info. Since my rig is still a daily, removable solutions are what I'm really looking for. Loving the content.
That is Pelican's Strong point for sure.
17:58 Awesome video and boy would I love to win that prize! Reminds me of being a kid building those cars with my dad!
I was so happy when I saw that was what BFGoodrich sent for a giveaway for that exact reason... it is basically a thing all guys probably want but we would probably not buy for ourselves... basically the perfect thing to win. Big thank you to BFG...
@@OutdoorAuto Good for family fun and for being cooped up during Covid. You can have an offroading adventure even at home!
Good luck, Ben!
17:58. Awesome vid and sweet RC. I've been contemplating the Pelican Cargo cases since they were announced. Thanks!
They really are impressive as a full blown, long term storage solution.
17:58
Thank you for always putting out such informative information! I take something away every time.
Whew! well thats the goal... Hopefully these videos help people.
17:58 thought the bomb was a picture on the wall. Great timing just starting to look at cases. Going to by a pelican cooler at a local Dicks so I can return it if necessary. Drains have been leaking, buy and test.
I had to at least try to be creative with where I put the logo... Good luck with the cooler... I have tested both Yeti, RTIC and Cordova coolers... honestly never had a problem with any of them... Since we do a lot of Whitewater Rafting we get to test a LOT of coolers. I am sure Pelican's coolers are probably on the same level... you might want to do a quick price comparison ... good luck
Definitely loving the pelican cargo boxes. Tough choice between them and Roam. Love your videos, thank you.
What would be really cool is the Pelican boxes with a slide mount that you could attach to a Decked system. Granted there are slider bed arrangements you could use. But imagine being able to just flick a release and be able to slide them out where they were easy to access and not have to mess with unhooking them to get at stuff.
That would be awesome!
17:58 tons of love for doing the work for me!
Well, Thanks for watching.
Pouches, pouches.. and a bigger pouch .. I laughed . Saw your boredom bomb at 17:58 Great content Would be rad to snag that RC car- my 11 yr old would love to drive a yota like his old man :) - keep it up boss!
I was pretty happy when that thing showed up. Good luck!
I originally liked the idea of the decked system and it's not terribly priced for what it is...but to me, it feels terribly inefficient as the two drawers are very narrow and odd shaped. I do like the plastic construction tho, weather proof and wicked durable I'm sure. Going to be building one to integrate our kitchen, using Baltic birch ply, and locking 5ft or 6ft ball bearing slides then getting it coated in lineX when I'm don't building it. Some of these cases on top of the drawers would be good, I'm still running a tonnue tho to help security and weather. Then rack and tent are 10" or so off the bed rails.
I think Decked has an amazing product... they engineered it so well for strength... but I agree with you that it is a more narrowly focused product than people realize... If you are overlanding and trying to optimize every square inch of space and weight it does have its downfalls... but I think even those downfalls only apply to a pretty specific/prolific group.
Don’t know how I got here but aggressive dude at 14.30. You are in the circle of marketing Overlanding equipment even if you hate the word
I wouldn’t say I hate the word at all... mostly just poking fun and trying to not be too serious.
Far out... Cool truck!
Appreciate the support... I am working on a bunch of new informative overland videos right now... should se them coming out over the next couple weeks.
17:58.
I’ve been looking into storage solutions for my Tacoma, thanks for the great content!
One thing to keep in mind with the tacomas is the bed is more narrow than the Tundra so one of the drawers is about 1/3 skinnier. Good luck.
picked up a few of the plano boxes today for our trip to OK for some trout fishing
Have Fun!
I have 3 of the Plano Box and put it on top of my Prinsu rack for my tundra and had driven through rain and it holds well and dry
I like the Pelican cases, but they need to make one that's in between the BX80 and the BX135. I really like the ROAM except they have way too much overhang that takes up way too much space on getting your gear in and out of them. But think I'm going with the Rugid cases - same with them, wish they had a tweener size.
This is the best channel right here. Thank you for the videos/information
Wow, thanks!
17:58 - 18:10 like those Pelican cases.
Window/door weatherstrip fits into the Plano Sportsman trunk lid to provide a pretty great weather seal. I stole the idea from someone else and can't find the video, but I have done it to all of mine. Simple, cheap increase to the weather protection for these bins.
Great tip 🙏
Round 2 for a giveaway attempt - 17:58 Just got some BGF KA 02's and would be psyched for a freebie. Thanks again Nathan.
Good luck
@@OutdoorAuto - Appreciate it and the videos - just starting out in Overlanding - 07 GX470 - and the info you have been providing is very helpful. I live over on the wet side of Oregon so you're videos showing actual sunshine are always helpful as well!
Enjoy your KO2s!
Thanks for all the info. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
17:58. Great info. I've been looking for a system like the Plane case solution.
Awesome... glad I could share. Hopefully they get back in stock soon... I noticed several options were running low.
I don't know if prices have changed since this was published but the Pelican cases are actually pretty competitively priced compared to Roam and 23Zero cases. They are all in the same range, and the Pelicans appear to be much higher quality.
I think they came down a bit… I just like the flexibility of them.
17:58 just ordered my roof rack and trying to decide on which case to put up there with. Thanks for the info!
what rack did you get.
@@OutdoorAuto I went with UpTop Overland TRUSS bed rack and UpTop Overland Bravo roof rack
@@ulovix8565 Awesome... that is a great rack!
@17:58 Glad to finally see this video drop! Thanks for all the hard work!
17:58... Thanks again for such quality content on UA-cam! I really think you're one of the best channels out there and I appreciate Your real world reviews... The one thing I'll say about the deck system that I don't like is that they don't make an 8-ft bed length option for a super duty Ford... Thank you and stay well!
Wow, Thank you 🙏 ... We really appreciate the feedback and support.
@@OutdoorAuto You're very welcome, seriously I think you approach things in such a common sense and genuine way, thanks again...
17:58 to 18:10 love all your videos helping me with my tacoma build so much!
Watching this video, I’m glad I bought my Roam Cases 😎
Roam was pretty smart with their timing.
17:58, great videos and this one is just the info I was looking for !
Awesome... thanks for watching.
17:58 This would be an awesome addition to the truck! I could run the RC truck when weather is nasty!
I like this plan.
I"m redoing what I have timing is everything...Yes I have Plano now but that Pelican as I'm planning a long trip may be a good investment. Tks
23:11 Vivobarefoot TRACKER FG's...I have a pair myself. Great boot!
Good eye... most comfortable boot I have ever worn... I just wish they didn’t wear out so fast.
I just got a Pelican box and its great. For my application the Plano was just a bit too tall but I wanted something more durable anyway.
Hi, which Pelican box did you get? What are the dimensions? Also, do you mount it onto your roof? Thanks.
17:58 just getting into overlanding and storage is currently on my shopping list. great timing
Great video man! I’m picking up my new truck this month, and am excited to get into over landing asap. Obviously I’d want to get better equipment like the Pelicans down the road, but for now those Plano’s will keep me out of debt and on the road more - and help me figure out what I want/need when looking at upgrading my setup. Thanks!
I still use PLanos on every big trip... they are great and a great place to get going... - If you have ever had questions on offroad/overland Jacks... check out the new video that just went live.
What kind of truck do you have
Instead of your climbing up on your truck to fasten the brackets for the pelican case if you had a RSI smart rack your feet would never have to leave the ground. This rack slides towards you and then drops down making it easier to load gear you lift it up and slide it back in lock it in place there’s always a solution.
I have heard about these... I need to check them out.
17:58 I'm happy with Planos but I'll seriously look into new Pelican products. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! Good luck in the drawing.
Try the Echo brand square case for your chain saw. I carry mine in my truck and on my side by side it takes a beating.
I am going to check that out... square case would definitely make it easier.
17:58 amazing storage options but I think I will stick with the Plano mainly do to cost 😂 believe me I will make them work!!!
There is a reason they are in the video... they are the cost effective heavyweight champion of overlanding. 😂
17:58 Me and my son watching the video we saw the RC Truck now he wants it . But the kid in me wants one too.
The first 20 seconds makes this a thumbs-up video, lol (the rest of the video is good too!)
I have to take the opportunity to make fun of myself when I can...
17:58 I've been looking for a reasonably priced cases to store in the garage and throw in the truck when i hit the road. too big and they get too heavy. gotta be dust/water resistant. I've noticed some use the Rigid portable tool storage boxes. great budget option. love this channel. keep up the great work!
thank you for the information, i’ve been looking to better organize my jeep lately. 18:03 for the boredom bomb
The Yeti looks like a good trauma box / first aid kit
Yeah... it would be great for that... in a lot of ways that is what we use it for rafting.
17:58. Great video. I currently have the pelican cases they are awesome
Any other feedback for everyone that I missed? Thanks for watching.
@@OutdoorAuto no, you pretty much nailed it. I did just watch a video on the apache cases from harbor freight. They look awesome for half the price of the pelican
17:58 Love the information, maybe don’t worry about the criticism so much? Great channel & thanks!
Good advice...
Awesome review. Thanks so much! Subscribed :)
Awesome, glad it was helpful. We have a whole run of new videos coming… starting this week.
Great video! I love my planos. They are a versatile case, I won't trust them to my roof rack, but they work. But those new pelican cases are so sexy. My mind has a decked system and the pelicans mounted inside on the bed rail... That's for when I win the lottery... Guess I should start playing ;) lol
Yeah... Pelican with Decked is a pretty amazing system to get really organized and make getting out a lot more convenient... but a lot more pricey .
@@OutdoorAuto sometimes though, the convenience is worth it, sometimes. Lol
17:58
Thanks for the video. I’m trying to decide what storage I want to go with for weekend trips.
Apparently people don't have much issue with the Pelican pricing because they are sold out :-D Thanks for your channel and info. Great stuff!
With all the talk about the Pelican mounting system options, would have been helpful to see close ups of how they mount. Although it sounds like you are waiting on the correct bed mounting brackets. I appreciate the rafting comparisons. Would you trust the Pelican Cargo Boxes on the river? I’ve used the normal Pelicans on the river for years, would be interesting to know how they compare. Seems like the new cargo boxes wouldn’t be as waterproof. Boredom Bomb at 17:59. 💣👍 Keep up the great work!
Great feedback... and yes, unfortunately I am waiting on the bed brackets. I will do a much shorter "Install video" just on the Pelican Cargo when they get here. Even the Roof Rack brackets need a basic walk through if you aren't installing them on a front runner rack so I will cover both... that will be a much shorter video just on technical items related to Pelican Cargo. This video is definitely more of a "things to consider" when planning a storage solution. We do take the Yeti on the river and have had no issues so far. it really is an indestructible little box that works great for rafting.
I will have shorter Pelican Cargo ONLY video coming out soon that will cover technical details on install. I need to get my brackets in the bed switched out first and of course beat them up a little... Subscribe to be notified when new videos drop. This was more a "Storage Comparison" video and it was already long. Thanks for your patience while I get the right brackets.
17:58 Plano it is for me at those prices.
I do appreciate how thorough you are! Thanks for all the good information. Keep pumping good videos for us 😂
All you need is a Ruck Sack, 550 cord and a few MREs. 👍🏻😎
17:58. Nice to see a Tundra build.
I love Tundras... Once I went to the full size platform for extended trips... now I dont know if I could go back... I have a full build video out there but it will need an update soon...
I do have 2 huge Pelican Cases. My girls said use those, I said perfect. Going use them in an FJ. But looking at that Rack one. Looks cool to add on. But Do you need their Rack? Mine is rounded. There has a Grove.
You probably wont be able to use the factory mounting on the roof rack if it isn't theirs... but dont worry. I mounted mine on a different rack... yes I had to drill a couple holes... but it was no big deal. BTW - If you have ever had questions on offroad/overland Jacks... check out the new video that just went live.
Will the Pelican Bed Cases, that mount above the wheel well - Fit Below a bed cover? Will the BakFlip close on top of it?
17:58 -18:10 Sneaky ... I noticed it when it disappeared...
Just trying to keep it fun 😉
17:58 Definitely would enjoy playing with it with my little brother while at a camping spot! If I’m the chosen winner, you can play with it before sending it to me! And good advice also!!
I'm definitely all about the cheap cases. I'm not bagging on people spending $$ for a Pelican case, if I had the funds to go crazy that's what I'd get. It's just that most of the time what I'm putting in there costs less than the case. If somebody is stealing stuff from my truck they're not going to want what is inside, the case is more valuable than the gear. They'll just dump contents on the ground so it's easier to run off with the case.
But mostly I like cheap stuff like the Plano because my setup and packing layout changes all the time. If I suddenly get some new gear that needs a different sized case or a re-arrangement of the bed I like being able to get new cases for under $20.
Cheap and (figuratively) flexible ...as long as it keeps most of the dust and water out.
if i had a truck, decked would definitely be my option, but only owning a CUV in limited to roof rack
Love your channel, great work!!
Thank you.
Bracket options for the Pelican cases is limited for very specific installs...and ridiculously priced. The don't have any brackets suitable for DIY mount solutions. I was surprised how thin these are (got a deal on a couple of the cube-shaped ones). The Pelican website sucks and brackets are invisible on the cargo case page.
I used the mounting brackets that they have and then I just modified the hardware I used to secure them... that has worked with quite a few different racks in the past. But, yes I get your point... you have to get creative with the hardware... I even had to drill some holes in a rack to make one work.
Enjoy the video it’s OK I am a pelican fan but I’ve been using pelican cases for more than 2 1/2 decades and I stole my camera equipment in them and they’ve never failed me so yeah I would easily save up my money and buy the proper cases I’d ride or buy something of quality ones instead of something cheap many times I find in many cases the cheaper product tends to be faults economy.
17:58 man I'm a new subscriber but I love the videos. I've recently got into overlanding ( not a word) lol with my son and were loving it so far.
17:57 - 18:10 I built a Tamiya Black foot kit when I was a kid. The ladder in the garage fell over and crushed it. I never rebuilt it :(
Bummer 😞
17:58 pelican all the way
