    I have my Grandfather's 1967 Caprice Custom Coupe. It was ordered by him in late 1966, 396 cu in, posi track, bucket seats, A/C, factory tach and guages, tilt wheel, AM/FM Multiplex radio. I have had this car since 1980 after his passing. I tell people that it is still his car, and that I am taking care of it for him. It is a beauty, after the work I did way back in 1985. Cars become part of our lives, they become family in a sense. I can still see him driving me in this car to my haircuts when I was 7 years old. This car will always stay in our family. That's so much for the great job you did in making this video for your brother and his wife.

    I have a 1966 Caprice Sports Coupe 396 I bought my first one when I was 15 years old when I turned 16 my parents deemed it too fast and they sold it In 90 I was fortunate enough to find another one original owner car I spent 3 years talking him into showing me the car I was still fairly young but I made him a promise that I would never hot ride or race the car and he sold it to me I am now 56 years old I still own this car to this day There is no other car that I have ever climbed into and driven that drives like this car a lifetime of memories in this car both good and bad People who know me also know me for my 66 I know exactly what your brother feels for his car it is part of his life and it would be a great loss if they ever parted Give my regards to your brother tell him he owns a fantastic piece of history and I am very sure he enjoys it as much today as he did when he first bought it but appreciates it much more Chevrolet runs deep

Had to sell it due to hard times in 80 or 81 I think. As time went on I would check the market for another one. Finally in 08 I found another one. I'll never forget the smiles and waiting family the night I drove it home. We were please to take it on our 30th anniversary to the site of our Honeymoon. Yeah, we got some "duplicate pics too. Hey buddy,
      Good for you!
      I read your comment, and you said you had a lot to learn, so I will give you some quick easy advice:
      I wouldn't put a bunch of bullshit on a car like that. Stay the hell away from retro mod crap like wheels, cheesy electronics on the dash, chopping and slicing, hydraulics, and worst of all: CANDY PAINT!😞😆😝.
      It's your baby, do what you want, but I've been around, and I've messed with every kind of car you can imagine.
      My advice comes from seeing people destroy beautiful originality way too many times. Most mods are fleeting fads and really start to go out of style and look stupid quicker than one may realize.
      If you must change something, consider being able to revert back to stock. That way, if it becomes super rare and valuable, you can maintain that.
      If I couldn't resist, the only things I would do is: headers, four speed, and maybe fuel injection. That's it man.
      Anyway, just some freindly advice.
      Good luck with her!!

    I usually don't comment on Videos but I have to tell you my story. I purchased our 1974 Caprice Coupe New 40 years ago when I was 20 years old ( It's loaded and has a 454 in it ). I met my wife shortly after I bought it and my brother drove us in it on our wedding day (1976). It still looks like the day I bought it after 140,000 Miles. We celebrated our 38TH. Hi Mitch,
    I've had a desire to own a muscle car for years. So back in 2008 I searched for a 60's Mustang Fastback, my favorite car. After noticing the insane prices and the chances were very good that I would never afford one, I started poking around at other makes. I fell upon a gentleman in N.H. selling a 66 Impala. Classic cars of any kind for sale in New England is kind of rare so I jumped on it. Drove to look at the car with my son, we both feel in love with it and the rest is history.

    Hey Mitch, thanks for this video! My Grandma wanted to get rid of her '59 Impala because it had the 6cyl in it and she wanted more power for the newly built freeways. So her brother-in-law worked at the Chevy dealership downtown. She was so upset at the lack of power in the '59 she wanted to order "the biggest, most powerful V8 they had". Of course my Uncles talked her out of the 427/425hp version and she settled for the 283 with a powerglide. I ended up buying from her in 1977 (a year before I could drive) and had it all through high school. I had a crash in 1984 and didn't have enough money to get it fixed. The neighbors called the police on me for having 'an abandoned' car. So it went to the junkyard.
    Thanks again for bringing back some great memories of not only my first car but family and friends that spent a lot of time in it too! :)

    As a car guy, I am especially drawn to the stories about the cars and guys that stayed together over many years. In many of these cases, the cars went through several iterations, and somewhere along the line usually reached the point where any sane human being would have sold it or sent it off to the wrecking yard!
    But, for some reason, a bond was formed with the owner, and getting rid of the vehicle became as unthinkable as getting rid of one of your own family members! And then, after years of doing all the things that you “had” to do, and all the things society said you “should” do, the owner finally reaches the point where he can do something for himself and has his prized old vehicle restored to its prior glory!
    The only thing that could be better is if the owner has a son or daughter (or even grandson or granddaughter) who shares the love of the vehicle and will make the perfect new owner when that time comes along…..👍

    • @MitchGrooms
      @MitchGrooms  2 роки тому

    Mom and Dad bought a '66 Impala new on 06/05/66, Marina Blue,Black Vinyl Top,(first year for both), 283/3 on the tree. Ran like a dream. Twelve years of salted roads did her in but I pulled the motor/trans and small parts off her, put the motor in my '68 Camaro, used it for two years and when I traded it in that 283 sounded and ran like a Swiss watch. I regret to this day not keeping that motor. If I'm lucky enough to get a '66 some day the steering wheel will be replaced with the one that was in Mom and Dad's car. ..... Jim .

    So many questions. First. ..Awesome video. I'm getting ready to purchase a 66 4 door impala. Just three questions. Number the color of the paint job at the end if the video. Second the size of your tires..rear and front and third your suspension. Everything flowed together. Please enlighten me. Great video. Memories you nailed. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Mitch. Just came across this video today. I love it. Great job, great choreography and choice of song. I also have a 1966 Impala that is an SS and I love it. My question to you and Scott is what size and type of wheels and tires do you have on the Impala? It has an awesome stance and look..

      15 on the front and 17 on the back but not sure how wide. This was a very emotional video to make. Thanks for your nice moments.

    Thanks so much for the kinds words, after my brother and Tamara "his wife" in the video, they were in such shock amd emotional because this video will be important to their kids when they are gone because it shows the sheer love they have for each other and for this car..Please tell me about your car, I know my brother would LOVE to hear your story, are you on Facebook?

    So, I saw your comment on Scott R's Chris Watt's post and thought I would glance to see if you had content on your channel. I have not even looked at anything else on your channel and have no idea what it is about, BUT seeing as you have your lead video of an Impala... I subbed right away. You had me at Impala. lol My husband laughs because I stop at car shows when I am by myself. I don't know much about automobiles, but I do know what I like and I like muscle cars. Have a blessed day.

      That is so nice of you to say that. I am a Realtor who has a fit over cars I guess you can say :-). It is mostly a car channel but I have Weddings I shot on here too, a mixture of sorts.. This Watts case is so crazy and I am so hooked on it, tragic all way around it. Have you watched all of Shannan's vids? She was hooked on Thrive..

    Hey Mitch, THat is a beautiful car and a great story. I love those wheels. Are they 17"? Ask you brother what size tires he is using (i.e. 245/ 50 17)

    • @MitchGrooms
      @MitchGrooms  5 років тому

    Great story Mitch! I have a 1966 Impala convertible. My first car was a 1966 Bel Air and I loved it so I got the Impala. What color of blue is this one, Mist or Marina blue?

    I'm unfortunately priced out of buying an Impala, but I'm working on your car's baby sister, a '66 Corvair Monza. Looks like a baby Impala, handles like a Corvette, and is cheap to buy and repair...
