As a plus size girly, I just want a brand that actually has high quality fabrics with the glamour of VS in 2010s. I want the different shades of pink, the feminine, the girly, the elegant. I don’t want tacky and I don’t want cheap looks. I tried hard to like Fenty but I just don’t like a lot of the styles. If VS can make high quality garments that are also flattering for different body types & get the glamour aesthetic right again, they can absolutely bounce back
Their products quality has definitely declined. I stopped shopping with them. Also, they tried to charged me interest on the next billing cycle after I paid off my account. I don’t shop with them at all after that.
I recommend La Perla, Agent Provocateur (most use synthetic fabrics but I got a silk set for around $100 that has lasted me years), Marjolaine, and independent lingerie designers that makes tailored pieces. They are expensive but you can find a lot on sale for the same price as a VS set from them directly or secondhand in unused condition.
As a member of Gen Z that had to shop at VS and Pink very young due to puberty, I remember seeing the models and actually feeling seen in a way. Mainly with Jasmine Tookes because she was small from the waist down, but had a bigger chest. Growing up pretty skinny and black whilst seeing Jasmine walk for years in my youth made me feel happy to be girly and see it on someone who looked like me. The only issue I had with the rebrand that VS tried to have was that the took away the glamour and the girliness of it. Even in Pink, which is marketed towards a younger demographic (13-19 I assume), has lost a bit of its luster. I wish that brands would realise that a rebrand doesn’t just mean a clean, dull slate. It could just mean adding and taking away some details that hindered it in the past. If I could work on the marketing team, believe me I would. I tried to get into Fenty, and some of the pieces are cute, but for me, that only really includes their robes and pj sets. Other than that, I feel no connection to the brand.
literally obsessed with VS and anything related to fashion since a kid, no joking, this is literally my comfort “place”, it’s really my inspiration.. The vibes are amazing!! always gives that 2000-2015!! It’s definitely something I want to be involved in the future I got so excited that VS actually heard people and are bringing back the real show!! #2014isback
I don’t really care about gen Z, or who they are targeting, just wanted to learn about the aesthetic. The aesthetic is just about being pretty and feminine, it doesn’t have to be something that we need to overthink about.
Newly 20 & I loved this. I grew up with older siblings & got to see this version of VS as a kid in the 2010s & being shown stuff from before. ur completely right, hopefully they put their thinking caps on and not let go of this bygone era
Love this content! And agree with your point regarding the decrease in glamour coincided with the push for inclusivity- Mattel did the same thing with Barbie dolls. It’s like corporations think inclusivity means realism, we can’t have a fairy princess barbie with a curvy figure and we can’t have a curvy Victoria Secret angel in an elaborate outfit on the runway & that is not the case.
The hypocrisy is that many, not all, but many of those girls/models that do not fit the type of a VS angel/model fantasy they wish they could, but maintain face denying it.
I'm so excited for this show to be back to normal ( and I appreciate your vocabulary of "gen-z-ify" lol )I'm a elderly millennial at 42 and grew up with VS and personally can't wait for its return.
oh I love the VS aesthetics, my favorite shows are the once from 2005-2008, the later once were really good too, but there were more segments that got too abstract for me... also, I miss the special remixed runway music, the later shows started feeling more like a concert than a fashion show... mid 2000 style was so glamorous, to this day one of my absolute faves and the wings.... they were something else and the models really had to earn the wings and it was so precious to see their happiness when the got their first pair 🥲
Yes thank youuuuuuu. I’m 29 and growing up seeing this it was very aspirational and beautiful, it made the brand dreamy. I miss old school VS 😭 also not everything is for everyone
They should definitely keep appealing to teens/young adults, there are many other boutiques for 25+ women and honestly they can still shop at Victoria Secret. The average Victoria Secret model was 22-23. I grew up with the Victoria Secret Craze and it was amazing to experience as a teen/young adult, if I got to experience that the other following generations should be able to as well. Let young girls have things. I think VS needs to return to what they used to be, pink + glamorous.
Absolutely all of this, I love this reimagining. It's perfection. All the nostalgia and glamour with some fresh additions like the off duty model aesthetic. I also love the emphasis on the reality of how hard they work, how much devotion they have to managing their nutrition, their workouts, sleep regimine, skincare etc.
To this date, it is incredible how the owners of VS felt for the pressure of changing the brand. I cannot stand how all of these non sense got into their brains. VS just needed to make some adjustments by implementing more normal size looking models in the healthier side of the spectrum and good looking. They should had allow Adriana and all of the angels that are now mothers to model on the show while pregnant. That is something they can change. Embrace motehrhood in the shows. Is an angel pregnant? Call her for the show!
I really like this take I’m a young Gen z girl and I wish Victoria secret kept their branding style because it worked all these years so why change now? I may not fit the Victoria secret models height requirements (5’1 tiny) but that what made it SPECIAL. Not everyone can be a Victoria secret model but you can become your OWN UNIQUE model. When you’re for everyone then you end up for no one 👎.
Me too, I’m only 5’1 and wish I could be a Victoria secret model. But that’s what makes it unique like you said , hopefully there will be a brand created and that puts the spotlight on petite models too in the future . 😊
It really felt like the VS grey and black frumpy look went on for a decade and I’m ready for something new. Grey sweatshirts and black leggings. I could puke
I like this channel because it really goes into details that I miss! I'm not going to be opting for this aesthetic per se (I don't fit it anyway), but it's nice to learn about the little things that make it what it is!!
I feel the problem is the costumes. There was literally no glamour. If your gonna try being "inclusive" why not just make it as glamorous?? The clothes were so ugly.
Hey, im a new subscriber to the channel and im loving it! You have helped me better myself, gain new hobbies and so much more! Self care is important! I am 21 (Gen Z), I grew up with Victoria secret wanting to be a model for them like they are SOO MUCH MORE than just being feminine and pink and lingerie!! Im gald you went into that along with talking about younger audiences that honest tend to ruin nor understand much so thank you for this video.
Babe they should pay you for all the sauce you gave them in this video. I always enjoyed the OG Victoria Secret branding for what it was as well and wish they had just stuck to their guns and maybe just shook things up a little bit.
@@beautyandbeyond000 No need to apologise, it might just be me but the rest was amazing anyways, thank you so much, I watch and love all you're content.
I will say as a 22 year old bisexual black guy, I was obsessed with the beauty and conceptuality of the fashion shows. My all time favorite segments were Parisian Nights and the Circus opening. THESE are the levels I expect for this comeback. I am one of the Gen Z that knows and realizes that my generation wants to be fair and inclusive (which is how things should be) but I am so for and sometimes fight for things that just make sense. For instance, when it comes to desirability, the iconic “look” of a VS model should remain, but also more color diversity of the women embracing more Asian and black models and not just white and Brazilian women. I also do want some freaking power-built women, like large builds, but like you said, muscularity. I really do think because as masculine as I am, I was always enamored by beauty and feminine things (May because I’m a Pisces/Cancer/Libra LOL) but I really miss these shows. I used to watch them secretly in my room as a kid and I really miss some of my favorites like Candice, Laís, Doutzen, Erin, and Miranda. So much. Great video!!! ❤
They should increase their quality if they want to differentiate themselves and create a feeling of “luxury.” They did a good job with their branding making it seem as though it was exclusive and therefore good, but at the end of the day it’s just a fast-fashion mall store for the lower and middle classes. Better quality and slightly more inclusivity is all there customer ever wanted. I remember when they made Barbara Palvin their first “plus size” model-that’s what infuriated people to the point of wanting to torch the place (besides all the Epstein ties): she was a size 4 I believe, maybe a 6, and they had the gall to claim that she was overweight just bc she had round thighs and hips.
I loved the old Victoria Secret brand. Derived a lot of my middle school and high school aesthetic from this brand and still do in adulthood! They should embrace exclusivity but keep the aesthetic…idk what they were trying to do with their new stuff…it just across as boring. They have so much opportunity but they abandoned it for no reason. They should hire you as a consultant SN: You sound a little nasally. Try to talk from your oral cavity
Love this comment! I knew I sounded nasally! You know, I got sick earlier on this year and ever since that I’ve felt like my voice has changed or like every time I go to record …ugh! lol. Thanks for that though because I knew I did but no one ever said anything 😭

I didn’t say you were dumb sweetie :) if you’re not impressionable that’s great, but the frontal lobe isn’t fully developed for many people that age so in general … yeah
All VS had to do was stay exactly the same and simply add some diversity in their models. Idk why their marketing teams decided to overthink the whole thing… what people were asking was pretty simple lol.

vs was always cheap and synthetic.

I genuinely think if they had just kept the sensual feminine glamorous aspect of vs they would’ve succeeded with their rebrand the first time
