Thank you SO much for doing this video - travelling Sri Lanka solo is definitely different to travelling Australia solo but I'm so determined not to let my gender stop me from travelling alone!
Speaking from experience (I’ am a short and thin Asian 22 year old) Sri Lanka is a pretty safe country to travel solo as a female. The locals are pretty much always friendly and trying to help you. Watch for the usual travel scams though (but pretty basic comparing to scams in other destinations.) And try not to go out alone late at night because many places in Sri Lanka don’t have a busy nightlife, even in Galle and Kandy. Have a great time, if you haven’t went yet : )!!!
This location 😍 I did a big solo trip in summer and thought I had everything sussed. Then I went on a weekend trip to Cologne and felt SO vulnerable. I decided to get the train to the airport, at about 5am, when everyone was leaving the clubs and getting on trains! After 20 minutes of trying to get the very drunk Ukrainian man to leave me alone, I was so relieved when my train arrived!
Really good tips Christianne. Such small changes can make a huge difference to making you feel more safe. Great tip on asking the receptionist for advice, so that they know where you're going. Genius :)
Very good advice!!! For the last 20 years I’ve been traveling all over the world and never have I ever had any problems!!! You just have to use common sense and always be visual all the time when traveling
This is great! I am building out a 1988 chevy van home to travel and work in film and tv and I have been worried bc I am a solo female traveler so I really want to make sure I take extra safety precautions. Thank you for making a video for fellow women. It can be a battle to be a woman in this world but we are so much safer if we have each other's backs
You know what, I didn't even think too much about letting someone know when you're leaving your hostel or going somewhere specific. I was just thinking about you know letting family back home know whenever I'm in a new city, but your point made me think about a backpacker that went missing and nobody really knew where he went, not even his friends he was backpacking with (I saw this on a backpacker's facebook group). Thanks for the tip though!
your videos (and the variety/ratio of vlog style vs. advice) have been so good lately, i've been clicking on every single one! looking forward to watching your channel continue to grow :)
How can I look confident walking around and look like I know where I'm going if I'm trying to take in everything there is to see on the streets? I imagine I'll look like a tourist if I'm amazed at everything I see.
My parents are terrified of me travelling alone, which I find a bit odd since I'm from Namibia and lived in south Africa for uni, and these places are generally considered dangerous. But I'll show them this, hopefully it'll make them worry less. ❤❤❤
Hey Hun, great tips and advice. I just wondered what are your tips for when you go to the beach as a solo traveller but want to go in the ocean. I never know what to do with my phone and beach bag etc :/
Love all the advice it’s a nice refresher and puts you at ease! I have been backpacking on three occasions now but planning my next one to be solo.. yet being blonde and female drew way more attention to myself than I was comfortable with (in SE Asia). How is Latin America with this kind of thing?
I was thinking that you gonna tell us about special gear like knives, rifles, axes or so. Ok, I just kidding! For sure the mentioned advises are quite useful, the main idea here is to follow them :-)
Great video and thanks for the advice :) As you are also traveling in areas where you can go swimming: How do you secure your personal belongings while you in the water (while traveling solo)?
Thank you so much for sharing! I go on my first solo trip in December and am a little anxious. I feel a bit better knowing I’m on a tour but I feel like I know I’m going to get homesick. However, I also feel like once that trip is done I’m not going to be able to stop booking trips. Either way, I enjoy your content! Thanks for sharing 😄
My pleasure ❤️❤️ Try to focus less on your worries and more on what your excited about and why you’re going in the first place. If I’m ever nervous about something, I try to turn it positive by thinking what a stronger person I’ll be when I come out the other side ☺️
I was told that all achievements begins with the step to start,I got recommended here also about Austin how he help make hug profit for people I have tired now I have made withdrawal within a short period of time
I have never heard about pressing the iPhone off button 5 times, that's so handy to know!
It’s good hey! I only found out about it recently
Thank you SO much for doing this video - travelling Sri Lanka solo is definitely different to travelling Australia solo but I'm so determined not to let my gender stop me from travelling alone!
❤️❤️ that’s the spirit 😁😁

I couldn’t resist filming here 🙈 Oh man I hate when situations like that happen. Sounds like you dealt with it so well ☺️☺️

I get asked this question SO much. I think I’m gonna make a video on it! (Not that I have the perfect answer but I have a few suggestions 🙈)
thanks for making this video - it's so important that women feel empowered and SAFE to travel solo!
