  • The Oyster 745 ist an amazing yacht. It offers the highest quality standards and a seaworthy layout. The yacht is highly customizable, so the final price of such boat really depends on the wishes of the client. But a price around 4 million Euros (app. $4.8M) is realistic.

    What dreams I have of owning this boat, living on it and sailing around the world over and over,

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +4

      I totally agree, if you have the money and the crew to care about the boat, then this is a very comfortable option to sail around the world. Personally I like to sail without crew, just by my own. Therefore we are building now the perfect boat for 2 people with just 42 feet.

    • @philandlyra3365
      @philandlyra3365 6 років тому

      Volt-At-Sea do u need a crew to sail this 745? Or can two at minimum do it

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +2

      In theory you may be able to sail it as a couple. The sailing passages might be even relatively easy, as everything is hydraulic or electric. But docking needs more helping hands. And everything is bigger. Sails have much more force. So if something goes wrong, reefing in a gust or handling the boat in a squall, you might want to have a crew. At least I didn't see boats of this size without a crew.

    • @philandlyra3365
      @philandlyra3365 6 років тому +2

      Volt-At-Sea I suppose you would really want to plan your trips, for big passages bring on some extra hands, but as far as hiring someone, don’t think I would do that, with a boat like that, there would be no shortage of friends and family to help out on trips, 👍

      Carpet on a boat means the owners are flying into a location and as they step into their boat a full course meal is waiting for them as the over exhausted crew watches and hopes the owners don't notice the dank carpet that they stayed up the night before trying to completely dry after the passage

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +1

      Well, what I could see from many marinas, the bigger the boat, the less time the owner spends on board. Usually the crew can enjoy the yacht for month without a visit of the owner. I presume that for a passage the carpets can be removed.

    this oyster is awesome.. i dont like 3 things about this boat..
    1. i dont like fiberglass to this big.. i mean in the hull...
    2. i feel that the carbonfiber mast is not too strong for sailing in some weather.
    3. the price for this boat its ridicolous.. I can do two like this O745 with less thant 700k dollars and 8 month of work (simultaneously).
    It is a perfect boat in many aspects but the price is a robbery.
    Thanks for the video dude.. excelent work.

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  5 років тому +2

      I agree with the fiberglass. Therefore we just build in aluminium. Fiberglass is extremely fragil, any collision may ruin the boat. The mast on the contrary is extremely durable. Carbon is better than steel, but extremely lightweighted. That is most important, so you can save weight and gain performance. Also the sailing is better with a carbon mast. Much bettern than with aluminium. The price is out of this world, sure. It is for people, who really don't bother much to spend 1 million or 10 million on a boat. But you won't build one for 700K, this is just not possible. Very simple, because the material and parts are so expensive. Just for the mast you will spend 100K. Believe me, I know, because I just pay for all the parts for our own boat project.

    • @frankjobs7113
      @frankjobs7113 5 років тому

      I could see how the other carbon mast was made, and it does not leave me very satisfied in terms of rigidity. I think both masts have pros and cons. but i agree with u that having 60ft of aluminum mast in weight is too much. maybe seeing the process of assembling this carbon fiber mast makes me change my mind. My way of thinking is always based on the worst weather conditions (saving the distances).
      Doing calculations you can do something very similar to an o745 for a very small fraction of the original price. I understand that such high values have their economic advantages and I respect it. but I am also aware of the value that everything has (including labor and applied engineering). to me the tree does not prevent me from seeing the forest.
      can u do some specials about carbon and aluminum mast ? hope u can
      nice talk anyway

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +1

      Just let's be fair please. Yes, it is not acceptable for a yacht to loose it's keel. Especially when the reason was poor engineering. But we also know that Oyster is capable to build outstanding boats. So why did this happen? To my knowledge, the financial investors pressed the engineers to save money by using a more lighter construction. So they did and we know the result. And finally this mistake might have even caused the bancrupcy of Oyster. But I hope that Oyster will come back to the old quality and again build those outstanding yachts that we all enjoy to watch.

    • @MetalDetectingwithCZkidd
      @MetalDetectingwithCZkidd 6 років тому

      Hope their customer service improves too and don’t run to bankruptcy court every time a keel falls off from here on out. Read the owners version of what happened. Not pretty.

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +1

      I know the story and "every time" was just once. So let's presume that it will not happen again. I'm sure the new owner is aware that this was a terrible mistake to put the safety of the crew at stake, just to save a few $$$ in production costs.

  • @shampus66

    What strongly needed for interior filming - one shot movie. "Nice transitions" between scenes totally confuse the viewer. Very difficult to understand something about layout.

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  4 роки тому

      This is not realistic. The boat show is a very busy place, so you need to wait until you can make a shot. For the layout, there are many other sources available.

    • @shampus66
      @shampus66 4 роки тому

      @@viatormarine I know what you mean. But it can be a simulation that looks like "one shoot movie". Just shot everything in "go pro" regime and invest more time in editing. Visit "Bot Tube" or "Yacht Travel" channels and see, how it can be. Compare the same movies, for example about "Amel 50" and try to understand what I mean. I want to get "presence effect" from such a movie. Like I'm really on this boat. Sketch of layout on the sign doesn't give me this.
      This is not just criticism, it is a recommentation. If you want more views and subscribers, then you should be better than existing channels.
      Good luck!

      @viatormarine  4 роки тому +1

      Well, if you are full time living on board, you will appreciate the space and comfort. The designs are changing and boats now have more light and less dark wood. Classic boats are often dark caves. So personally I prefer the modern design.

    As always, Oyster completely ruins what they could have done with this boat. So much potential...

    • @viatormarine
      @viatormarine  6 років тому +2

      The boat itself is pure luxury. It depends what you are looking for. It is definitively not my boat, because I like to sail a boat that I can handle by myself without a crew. And I don't want 2 hugh generators running 24/7 to supply energy for all board systems. For me sailing is about reduction and simplicity. But everybody is free to fulfill his own dreams. For some people this big Oyster is a dream.

    • @rcconroy
      @rcconroy 6 років тому

      I appreciate that, but compared to some of the others of that size and calibre, I just found the layout and amenities to be lacking. They have so much room to work with, and they still manage to make many of the cabins appear cramped. I'm sure that it's luxurious, but I was disappointed.
