What an entitled jerk that defendant is. I can't believe he thought it was ok to just pull the rug out from under the plaintiff's event in the first place, let alone without giving him any compensation!
Shady people go real far and above a lot of honest people...cause they have no moral compass that stops them ...that is only last for so long, but you know the mob "government"and their money laundering etc
A shame because it was very clearly explained to him by Judge Milian. But from his comments in the hallway, looks like it didn't quite sink in all the way. Well he's young, 23 he said, hopefully he'll live and grow. Let's hope so...
Bless the plaintiff's heart, he was so nervous. The defendant should be ashamed. I wouldn't want to do business with anyone who, as JM says, has no honor.
What the defendant doesn't realize is the plaintiff had to spend $1,500 out of his own pocket versus the $2,500 bar minimum that would have come from the total amount of guests/ patrons pockets, not just the plaintiffs. At worst the plaintiff would have only needed to pay the difference. They just got greedy. Simple as that
Ok, so in order to get the venue for free, he just had to assure a $2500 bar minimum. So since the defendant had to actually pay $1500 for new venue, he got all that back (with no bar min), so he basically got a free party venue? Geez, which one got snookered?🤷🏻♂️
@@stevelozano9523 The defendant likely would've not paid much or any at all since $2,500 / 200 people is only $12.50 per person. I'm sure you know people spend far more than that usually on a bar tab. Even with 150 people it's not much at all.

I'm curious when the defendant was going to tell the plaintiff that he didn't have the venue on that date, if the plaintiff didn't reach out to him that day... Or if he was planning on telling him at all...
I’d be surprised if he’s still in business with that attitude. He should’ve bent over backwards to accommodate the plaintiff to keep good will. Not sure what he was thinking.
I love how the defendant was complaining that there should have been a more concrete agreement. Hmmm... I wonder how the venue could have possibly made it into a more concrete agreement...
Anyone watching this should really think twice before conducting any kind of business with this defendant . I think he is going to be seeing the inside of a courtroom as a defendant many, many times.
I'm not happy that the People's Court is over, but on the flip side I am happy that it's over just so we don't have to listen to Harvey anymore. I could never stand how he would talk down to people and acts like he's better than everyone and knows all and everyone else is just stupid. He also loves to brag about how he used to be a lawyer. Used to be is nothing to brag about.
The business is so short-sighted chasing the quick buck. Trust, confidence, goodwill are all things money can't buy and can only be earned by doing good business. And by good I mean fair, honest and with integrity. They might have made more money that one night but in the long run, when people hear and learn about their business practices, they're going to find they have no business at all. I'm glad the plaintiff was able to find another venue and was able to have an enjoyable party. Especially with a cute friend like that.
I do not see the business the defendant works for lasting that long if they can't even realize they had a binding contract for the plaintiff's event, smh.
What a jerk the defendant is! He may have thought that he was doing what was best and smart by taking the higher contract that night but he probably actually hurt his business in the long run, the reason I say that is because people aren't going to want to rent a venue if they think there could be a chance that the venue is going to cancel a couple of days before because they have a higher contract, not only that but these types of businesses heavily rely on referral by word-of-mouth so I would think he would want to do right by the customer and honor his obligation! His comment at the end saying the plaintiff only paid $1,500 for a venue so really he was saving money was the stupidest thing I ever heard! He also had a lot less people show up than he had intended so of course he got a smaller venue.
That's karma. Felt sorry for the poor bloke. (Plaintiff). At least now he'll think twice before going to the Defendant's business. Very greedy people. 👎
