I do believe one owner was ok with “underage” people being there (for the benefit of the business) and the other owner wasn’t willing to take the risk of underage people (at the risk of the business). I worked in a restaurant/bar and it was mostly restaurant traffic 'til 9PM when kitchen shut down and then the clubbers would come out for liquor service after that (with DJ or Band with dancing). No under 21s allowed after 10PM. Clearly, plaintiff wanted a club party (18+) involving drinks but not food. One waitress seems a bit unrealistic, but servers don't make their tips on selling soft drinks. Also, I presume walk up service was available at the bar. Anyway, I can see why owners and staff don't care much for such an event and not to mention keeping track of 18s and 21s creates a lot of hassle, especially if they were mixing an adult event and an 18+ event in the same hall. I think plaintiff realized that this is pretty ridiculous and that she will really have to wait 2 more years to party in the clubs with the 21s. Defendant is an idiot.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 good for her, I'm glad she had the courage to go there and actually have her case together and just state the facts. She was very mature and on point. Judge was immediately drawn to that bc she knew she wasn't going to waste her time. The promotor on the other hand was not prepared and basically incriminated himself. If she had the idea of a party at night and you know there is alcohol that is the main seller, no one under 21 should be there. That isn't her fault. He knew he was wrong by selling her a false dream. And whether the owners are not communicating or what, is not her responsibility and he should be alittle more thorough in his event planning. Regardless if it is $600 or $6000 , that shouldn't deter you from being transparent and loyal to your client and making sure you give them the best outcome and experience you can. People can be more understanding if you tell the truth and provide transparency from the jump.

The defendant has no defense in this case. He essentially booked a party that never happened. He should have to refund the money. No doubt about it. Just take your loss and move on. Amazing job by the plantiff.

My dad used to own a bar+grill when I was growing up. His rule was no minors in the arcade/pool table area after 9:30 pm as it was connected to the bar, and no minors in the building period after 10:30 pm unless to pick up a Togo order. If someone booked a party it could go one of two ways, either all guests were 21+ or no guests could drink. He would rent the arcade/dance floor area out for parties to minors over the age of 15 but a chaperone must be there at all times & no alcohol could be severed to guests, the wrist band shit is way too hard to control because one person will walk up to get a drink & take it back to a table where minors could easily have access to it. The first & only time he ever made an acceptation for the rule(for a good friend) to book a party & have his whole family there including minors, his friends 18 year old grandson snuck about 5 beers before he was caught onto & kicked out. Just not worth the risk of having to supervise the guests that much harder.
