    Ideal Soil temperature to grow Alyssum is - 18 to 22°C 965 to 71.6°F] and in India, we can sow the seeds either in October or on November. Please note that, temperature really matters a lot and so please sow the seeds according to the temperature in your place. Good luck and please let me know if you have any question. Thank you for watching :-)

    I've been growing some Alyssum and I've seen some of my plants stretch, do you know why is that? Thank you for your attention

      @Talim Dibuja, Greetings and thank you so much for your words, appreciate it :-)
      I am actually getting bit difficult to get the actual issue...but most likely they are getting leggy? If yes, please take a look how much direct sunlight they are getting. They usually stretch a bit when there is lack of sunlight. Also, please water very carefully. The stem rot very fast with even little bit over-watering. Thank you and please let me know if I got your wrong!!

    Can i ask you how i plant lily of the valley pips please ? I have tried for past 2 years now and i never get shoots or plant popping up , it just decomposes in the mix , i think i must be doing something wrong . Thank you

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 роки тому

      You can definitely ask me any questions! Bulbs or Rhizomes rot mainly because of too wet or heavy soil. As they decompose or rot in your case, definitely it's because of the heavy or too wet soil mix. To avoid this, please try this -
      1. Take a small pot like 4-6 inch
      2. Fill the pot with very light soil mix like Peat Moss or Coco Coir
      3. Plant the bulbs and then cover them very slightly [like 5-10 cm deep]
      4. Water it moderately and then keep only in shady area.
      5. Please avoid watering before you see top few inches of the Peat Moss looks dry. In most cases, you won't need to water for next 10-15 days at least.
      6. If all goes well, the pips would sprout within few days
      7. Once they have sprouted, you can transplant them in pots or in your garden by using well drained rich soil mix.
      I know that, my tips may not match with many other online resources. But, I always provide info from my own experience and this is how I grow Ranunculus at my home. They also rot very quickly and finally, find out this method and they grow well (at least the rhizomes don't rot). But, for Ranunculus, we need to soak them in plain water for at least 30 minutes before planting them. I hope, that helps. Thank you and wish you all the best!

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 роки тому +3

      @Beautiful You With Ankita, You can remove surrounding soil (1/2 inch) and then add Chilly powder (strong one, not the Kashmiri one that is just for color). 2-3 spoons would be okay and distribute them evenly. In most cases, it works. But you can try some other methods as well - like boil few leaves of Mint in water (1 liter) and add few drops of Lemon into the final mixture. Then pour the water in the soil...repeat for 2-3 times and they should be gone. I would do a video about it as many people get this issue...I am just waiting for Ants to attack my pot again so that I can record everything with result :-)
