I bloody loved this series man! I work for a small motorcycle restoration company in Suffolk UK and deal with bikes like this everyday - you just can’t beat it can you! Cheers for keeping me entertained each Saturday!

Dick Mann was a good guy all around. he helped me all the time and i went to him in Oakland at Hap Alzina, the BSA distributor on the west coast. He rebuilt my 250 star that I scrables raced at local tracks in north Calif.

I'm so glad I found your channel a few months ago. Love what you're doing! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄 🎅 ❤
I have a short story for ya. In the mid 60's I remember going to the BSA / Bultaco dealer. They had an oval track behind the building with a little jump on the front straight. My desire was to ride around it on the BSA 175cc Trail Bronc, but the owner knew I didn't have 300 or so bucks!
Eventually, my dad bought a used Bantam & we took the lights off and changed to the big rear sprocket. Life was grand!

@@wheelhousegarage That A-10 is a cold-blooded bike, and always has been. But, a little warm-up and then it run's just fine. That's a very cool bike! Originally built by Dick Mann for Charlie Higdon from Redding, CA. Very special, cool Dick Mann built bike!

A few years ago after the seasons last club race at Oulton Park, they held a freak hill climb on Beeston Castle hill that was a "widow maker".Very steep and very few made it to the top. However Roger Kiffyn riding his own manufacture frame with a BSA Saffire engine, Roger not only stormed to the top but rode down again.A local legend sadly missed!

Now thats what a 4 stroke motocrosser should sound like. I remember attending the first USGP at carlsbad. Team Maico showed up with shocks moved up half way on the swingarm, Ake was there on his factory YZ with maico forks, Lackey was with his second year with Kawasaki sporting green leathers, and of course all the euro greats of the day but, the one rider and bike that you could hear above everyone else in the 500cc class was the British rider John Banks on his BSA.....pretty sure he finished 3rd overall that day

Thanks, and a Merry Christmas! Dick Mann made a much better looking bike of it than the original BSA factory did. That is lovely. I once saw a guy with a trials outfit (ie, a trials sidecar) with one of those motors. It sounded similar too!! Love it. CU in 2023!

I'm really liking all the Dick Mann and Malcolm Smith stuff. Both were big time heroes of mine. I remember watching Dick MX at Honda Hills in Ohio. It was the first year the Europeans came over to show Americans how to MX. I think Dick was riding an Ossa. It was Ake Jonsson and Maico's year however. I think Dick may have been second for several laps, not sure the end. We'd seen Dick flat tracking before so he was the local favorite. There was one big downhill at Honda Hills. The up front European riders jumped at the top and didn't touch the ground again till they were near the bottom. The Americans, for the most part, weren't into so much air time. I think Roger DeCoster and Joel Robert were there too. That was the early 70s, 72 perhaps. I read that Honda Hills is going to open again.

Have you got any experience of importing vintage bikes from UK to USA?
