How to spearfish series was legit. Can't recommend enough. Provides an amazing foundation for NZ spearfishing. Gave me the confidence to get going as a beginner without any mentorship.

Cheers mate, just remember the freediving safety principles. I feel like I have a responsibility after the content reaches out to quite a lot of new spearos. Champion

That was among the best things about the series. Really felt like it gave an in depth understanding of the physiology behind a blackout and how they go down. @@AquaticRehabSpearfishing

Can confirm the "how to spearfish series" is mean. Helped me heaps when I first started and every summer I go back and rewatch to pickup something new

I read somewhere the snapper in the harbour were starving and the flesh appeared more white. This does not appear to be the case with the two rippers you caught? Or is it isolated cases? Cheers for sharing.

WTF would love a vid of your approach to the reef, fuck tards like me need help, Seeing that snap and staying so chill blows my mind, Whats your body position in that run up? How do you stay so quiet?

I come around the corner down in the kelp and am fairly small shape because I am approaching front on and trying to stay low. I’m not out in open water and not making big movements. I also watched the fish for signs of it catching me because they will get a bit of a fright first and then run, if it got the fright and began to process that I was something unnatural - I would’ve shot sooner but it was not noticing me. I also was approaching from a harsh shadow against a ledge and the fish was in bright sunlight. The simple reality is it was looking at something else and it didn’t catch my movement or pay enough attention. It was clearly looking at the kina or shell hence why it moved over to where it wanted to be and was searching.

Shooting spawning snapper in the gulf… pretty questionable in my opinion.
Nice colour grading tho, always good looking footage

All milt no guilt, plus I’ve had 24 months off killing them, plus I’ve got 2 kids to feed, plus I could be killing all the other spawning species (unsure why we isolate snapper). Plus the only thing separating a spawning gulf snapper from a non spawning one is time. Plus these are some of the healthiest schools I’ve seen on these spots I know better than my wife in 15 years 🤙🏻
