Good morning Ollie, just remember a bad day underwater in NZ is still better than a good day in many places around the world.
Very true
Beautiful cinematography and great spearfishing. Great day!
Cheers Paul!
Can't wait to get out there!
Highly infectious positive energy
Cheers Trev slayer
Awesome video bro! If you are ever down in the BOP, come drone fishing ✌️
Smashing up kina also releases all of their eggs as well, bro. This can help them spread much quicker than normal if everyone does it, and multiplies their numbers dramatically. That's why you tend to see it more close to shore.
Shit, first i've heard that! Thanks for the info
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit I live next to a marine Park in Sydney and people smash kina for the big gropers to come in and feed. But there are signs up telling people to stop doing this because it basically makes them all spawn. I didn't know either! Been smashing burleys with them for ages.
@@antonposa5345 interesting!
Thanks for the tip Il keep this in mind next time
In California, most urchins in a barren are sterile, but you do find some that are reproductive. In NZ, they spawn from November to March. It is best to avoid smashing during their reproductive cycles. I'm no expert though, just some stuff I found online.
Nice video I am burning to see that king fish bro. Love the fact you did the reel to shaft. Definitely give it try on my double band .
love watching your videos Ollie, so awesome dude.
Cheers Sam 🙏
Thanks Ollie, yummo food.

Awesome!
Thanks for the info about getting started I’m actually attending the padi dive course
Easy mate! I started out my ocean adventures by doing my padi open water.

Cheers Bro!
Big fan bro. Simple done well 🤠
CHeers Aiden!
Awesome. I got a nice cray from a shore dive last weekend around Tairua. It was unexpected becuase of how accessible this paticular spot is.
🤫 no crays in Tairua, only big sharks
Awesome mate. Love the coromandel
Beautiful feed bro well done!
Cheers Jay!
Hey Ollie, another great vid. Cheers, keep them coming please! Hoping you might have some tips for overcoming fear of swimming in the ocean. Ive done scuba and free-diving before, but always struggled with low viz, and I'm not really comfortable when i cant see the bottom. The fear of what I cant see i guess. Just considering getting back into it, but I'll be doing it solo until I can talk someone into joining me. Cheers!
Can totally relate. I’m the same. Need super clean deep water or reef diving
Hi Brad, not sure how you combat that. I guess it’s just more time in the water. Perhaps just start back in clean water etc then move into other situations. All in the head mate. Bronzies are chill and extremely rare to come across a g white.
Can’t wait for the summer vids bro 🙌
Bro, cant wait for summer!!
Epic vlog bro keep it up
Cheers brother
best youtuber spearo out there always love the vids brother
Appreciate the comment bro.
Nice cray! lucky bro
Lucky alright!
Another wicked video bro. If u ever need a dive buddy let me know 😂 got a 14.5ft alloy and always struggle to get my mates motivated haha
Fuck ill be keen mate, recently moved to auckland from bay of islands and got no dive buddies down here hahah
Be keen if your around the coromandel bro
Good result bro and yeah as you say the viz comes and goes aye but you’ve made the lost of it and secured a good day out 🤙🏽
Cheers Michael, Yep, managed to get the result!
Sup bro mean vid ! Wea about you launch the boat awesome spot
pm me mate
Awesome vids mate. FYI there's an NZ company 'True Kit' that makes reasonably priced inflatables specific for diving, looks like your one might be on its last legs.
She’s got plenty of life left in it mate good old Hypalon irb
Bro your vid’s make me wanna jump in the water asap, and I’m in Dunners! It was 9 degrees today! 😂
Shiiiit! thats a bit rough!
how big was the bang when the boat fell!! :)
Mint 💯
CHur
love the content, just wondering where this is. cheers
Cheers mate. Spot x 😉
Hi Ollie, have you settled on standard guns now and gone away from rollers? I know it can be somewhat difficult going back and forth as they do shoot differently. I myself seem to have the same predicament. Your thoughts? Beautiful video as usual!
Thanks Roland. I still have one roller. I still prefer my standard setup as they are just a little quicker to reload and I have years of muscle memory etc shooting the traditional set up so easier for me to aim. With rollers they are great, can shoot long range and no recoil etc just a bit weird to aim. Will keep them for big fish fish trips
Hi ollie, I am wondering about the brand of that orange color inflatable boat you have ?? I really like it
i was out on the same day and it was 15m vis easy out wide from flat rock (probs about 10km) - weird it can change that much
Yeah cray right. big currents and tides- A lot of water passes through there can change things up quickly alright
There are a lot of boats always finishing around there, did you forget the dive flag on the boat?
I love diving that 1st spot but the current can rip, did u have probs getting back to the boat?
Yeah current can be extreme alright. Nah, not too bad perhaps we had the right phase of moon, not pushing too hard etc
Hey ollie mint video. Just wondering what your preferred gun is so far over your time spearfishing? as I see your using a double band rail gun and not a roller?
Cheers
My favourite setup is my 120cm speargun with twin 14mm bands. Rollers are great but still that extra few seconds loading etc put me off sometimes.
🎯🐟✌️
👍👍
Yep yep yep yah done good
Cheers Mark
hey... which bay/ramp did you launch your boat from?
Hey bro been watching for about 2 years love the content was wondering wat all the bits on a rob Allen spear gun are called bkoz I have just the spear gun but not sure wat other parts it needs I found the gun washed up about a year ago haven't found the owner so thought I might get it fixed up
Hey mate, Best to take it into a spearfishing shop which sell rob allen guns. They will get it all fixed up for you. Won't cost you too much. most likely need new rubber(s), a gun bungee, shooting line and a new spear.
@@olliecraig-primalpursuitokay sounds good thank you 🤙
Mean video, what beach did u launch from??
Cheers mate. Martins
where in the gulf was this bc i want to try do more spearfishing but cant go to far
Hey mate. Whats the name of the Dive Watch you use?
Hey mate I use the Suunto D4f
I can't believe ur pumping that thing up by hand like a God dam pilgrim lol
Nice bro, mean, chur.
Thanks Bro
Another awesome video bro 👌 nice combination 🦞🐟
Thanks bro!! Came together somehow !
Mean vids Ollie. I'm a new subscriber and also amateur diver. How are you able to train your lungs to hold your breathe for a long time? I can only go a few metres and want to improve my lung capacity
Hey mate, we all start where you are. Time in the water biggest influence. Make sure you are fit and healthy, eat the right food and look into doign a breath hold/freediving course to learn how to duckdive properly and do a proper breathup/recovery breaths etc
hey bro just wondering how you retreve your drone after flight? - just catch it or na - need ideas too scared to try with mine :D
Yeah mate just do dodgy as landings haha and be ready to get a few cuts on the fingers etc haha
the mantis bro!
Thanks bro
HI Ollie, i have my oun inflatable and am just starting to try get into spearfishing with my son, we need help!!!! no luck yet, dont know what we are doing wrong.. could you help us get going or join us for a dive? Great show
Hi Darren, Bets thing to do is to go to fishier locations. Plenty of info online to read through and on forums/facebook groups. Not sure where you are located, but if in major city get as afar away as you can
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit Auckland!!!!
@@madthindle I would recommend doing a day trip or an overnight trip once borders open up to the likes of the coromandel peninsula or northland. So much more fish life and opportunities to shoot fish etc. once it cleans up try diving around the Leigh coast etc or around tiri tiri matangi. When I started I would do overnight trips to the coromandel all the time. Lots of awesome doc camp sites to stay at etc and has clean water.
hay bro what do you think about starting out spear fishing at ti point
great place to start. will be kicking into life big time very soon
Mean! Hard to find cray around hauraki!
Totally. Very nice unexpected find!
10 metres short on the Viz, been there done that😂👍
Love the Mercury, what year Ollie?
Hey Peter, can’t remember exactly perhaps 2010ish?
Goes good as long as serviced and used most importantly!
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit l meant myself, people and even the weather forecast, but somehow, when you go under its a whole new ballgame.
Can you do a tutorial on how you hunt and grab crays please
Will look into it!
Packing heat! Would love to know you're thoughts on roller guns?
Hey mate no denying set up correctly they are super accurate and powerful. But after years starting on the traditional setup I still like the old double bands more but they are great if you want a small gun with loads of punch! Good thing is most guns are easy to convert and revert is you don’t like them!!
How thick is your wetsuit and do you recommend seabuck wetsuits
Hey Barry. 5mm suit( most common for North Island NZ). Yeah its a great suit (one i'm wearing is a sample for the new suits arriving end of year. would definitely recommend
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit thanks going to order me one tomorrow
Be good to see you get involved with #TeamSeas and raise some awareness. We are not to bad here in NZ but i bet you still find to much rubbish out there.
Will look into it. Cheers
Your title says freediving and spear fishing for cray fish
Freediving and spearfishing for crayfish and snapper
Flick me a message if your fee, I'm trying to start a podcast about spearing etc, Fucking love your vids..even if they make me realise how shit my spearing skills are. Be mean to have a yarn and you're input!
Hey mate flick me a message on Instagram or Facebook
Do you smoke cigarettes?
Nope
