Ah yes, I know, I'm also a climber.
many years ago when I was rock climbing I was explaining what a top rope and top bottom belay was to my work colleagues .. I said basically one went up the easy way to set up the toprope and then went back to the bottom of the cliff and climbed up the hard way with rope, etc .. One of my colleagues was older gentleman from village in rural India who exclaimed that if he told his older relatives in Gujarat about this they would wonder how North Americans maganged to do anything practical when we did silly things like this . Later is eldest daughter married a chap of Indian descent who loved to rock climb

Not only solo top roping, but filming while climbing... from two vantage points. Glad you are in more hospitable temps and that you seem to be getting more socializing! Stay safe.

I could just watch you and Rocko hang out, cook, look at the scenery. Doesn't have to be anything fancy for me. It just gives me a sense of peace and calm wherever you two go. :)

I've been watching your videos for breakfast for about three years now. There's nothing better for me than having a cup of coffee, a nice warm meal and one of your adventures. It really doesn't matter to me if it's a massive hike, easy day, chores or your van building series. Watching you and Rocko is just so relaxing for me. From the bottom of my heart: All the best for 2024! And thanks for all the great videos, they really make my mornings.
The rock climbing is gong to be an awesome skill set to have available. I'm sure those dudes in Canada who do the crazy stuff would approve!
You do not need to suffer through that awful cold for my entertainment, it's cold and dark enough in Utah at this time of year. Enjoy the sun and stay warm.
I had a small breed Jack Russell for 17 years. Always kept some canned pumpkin purée on hand. Especially when we were camping. She would eat anything she found. Pumpkin is awesome for settling upset tummies.

You are a thorough dude who does research and doesn’t cut corners. I’m not trying to give unsolicited advice, more just offering caution because we all want your content to continue. As you probably know from your research, make sure your solo device you are using is backed up. The devices can fail, and although it’s rare, you don’t want to only rely on one. Secondly, make sure you know how to self rescue. If you get part way up a climb and are too tired, get injured, or need to bail for an emergency, you want to have that system dialed in to quickly and safely rappel back to the bottom. If one of your devices is a grigri, rappelling is conveniently built in luckily. Have fun and stay safe! Looks like you’re crushing already after just learning for a short time!

You are so right about the JRT tummy. Random times in the morning he tells me he has to puke, plus he gets this weird reverse hiccup thing that makes him panic and swallow for hours (vet said maybe reflex). Then he will do this aggressive cow like munching on grass and puke repeatedly. Have never been able to change his kibble and have to watch the treats too. Never a dull moment
Agree on so many of the comments. I'm here to get away from the fast paced life I live, so need for anything fancy from me. And you're doing so many of us a wonderful thing, so take care of yourself too. Just seeing you enjoying a good meal with Rocko and a nice fire is very refreshing. I'm looking forward to retiring in five years and then I'm hiking the A.T. and traveling some like yourself. Take care.

My cairn terrier is super sensitive about her food too. I just started feeding her this frozen, raw food called K-9 Kravings Rabbit, duck, and vegetable recipe, and she loves it and has done really well on it. I’ve just learned so much negative things lately about kibble, I just had to take her off of it. Anyway, good luck with Rocco!❤
Good for your dog!! Dry kibble is the worse food for dogs and cats!!

glad you have a new hobby! be careful with rope soloing, there have been many accidents over the years even when the rope systems were "properly" set up. a lot of dirtbags go to joshua tree or huecos, red rocks, it wont be hard to find a partner there in the winter

Simon I think most of us are happy even just getting shorts just so we know you and Rocko are good. I envy you sir. Mortgage, property taxes, homeowners fees, electricity, water, maintenance, upkeep and all the rest expenses that go with owning a home and those expenses keep going up - a lot. Like where do they think we're getting extra money to pay all the increases??? I feel I'm very close to living your life I just can't stand the thought of being cold all the time. But boy how I'd love to just say "ENOUGH" and go for it. Hope precious Rocko is feeling better. Happy New Year.

I was wondering what happened to you. Nice to see you making vids again. I'll let you do the rock climbing. By the way, those are tumble weeds or Russian Thistle, not goat heads. Goat heads/puncturevine/tackweeds are actually worse and Rocko will enjoy them even less and so will your bicycle tires.
Do it whatever you can. Memories are best when you can't anymore. Nothing but love.

Utah is a bucket list destination for me, I live in Queensland Australia, so I’m used to outback but them mountains, ancient ruins, I’m sold 👍
