  • In this video I discuss the strategy of rushing out early research using Philosophers as Early Age Arcoscephale, as well as some suitable God ideas and expansion strategy.

Not enough of a meme. Now do a domkill rush with skeptics.

Domkill focus in general is pretty memey, maybe on a future video I will talk about it using Arco/Mekone/Mictlan

Domkill - when one God's dominion utterly overwhelms another God's dominion or it dies from other means
Skeptic - Unit with Heretic (3), a trait that makes them capable of killing any God's dominion, including the god that recruited them.
Mictlan, Mekone, Arco/Arcoscephale - three different Dominions nations.

Just focus on expansion into philosophers, good expansion and great research.

Turn 24 should be start of year 3?

its kind of hard to tell the effectiveness of the expansion as you chose to showcase the results on turn 24 instead of the turn 12. It would have been more interesting to see the results on turn 12 which most if not all players consider this the end of expansion phase.

That’s correct, I should have shown a little bit from earlier, and then a more developed game. I can say that the expansion was alright, above par for turn but not as good as using blessed wind riders which is terrific in EA.

Philosophers are great yeah, unfortunately they compete with wind riders who are the best expanders in the game*
    *I think

Yea there are definite drawbacks since as Arco there is so much competition for your capital, but I wanted to make a case to consider Philosophers since they can be very powerful, if risky.

@@CairnEnjoyer A few years back Perun did an expansion with wind riders that had more stuff on t12 than you have here on t24, wind riders are pretty ridiculous.
In competitive MP, if you're averaging 15 provinces by t12 in tests you'll probably get squeezed in expansion phase in the real game and rushed. It's not uncommon to hit 20-30 provinces in expo test and then (due to other players expanding effectively finish with 17-20 in the real game (more if lucky with opponent initial expansion directions, but can't count on it). You'll have a significant research lead on t12-15, but probably won't be able to reliably deploy FV yet.
All it takes is missing W on 1-2 STR cap mages and there's no FV before cap is under siege. Can also run into trouble if some Abysia or Pan with PR in bless runs you down, since the troop scales aren't there and wind riders aren't as good in army fights.
If you're doing this, classic/boring drakon is a good choice too. Same idea with hardskin + PR + low light vision + resilience. Yes, it's boring, but it will have a ton of prot, the poison spit is really good, and if you point buff moss body + quickness onto it while it runs temper flesh + regen + ironskin, hand it a dancing trident or stone bird...it's going to fight on par with any SC titan. Only downside is it can't magic phase by default, but some of the titans suggested can't either. You can also put strength on it rather than hard skin so the wind riders hit a bit harder, you might want that. Makes its poison spit a bit better (str bless + earth might + dominion + bear claw talisman makes the already effective poison breath pretty ridiculous), and the attacks hit extremely hard. Hard enough that with quickness you can brute force through stuff like ethereal or the 25% of time moss body doesn't activate and just maul stuff.

Going with a big monster like Drakon or E-Snake or ManEater is very reliable for a philosopher focused game, i had a better expansion in a test game using ManEater (had skin + blood surge) with basically same scales, however I wanted to show a game in the video where I used a Titan since you can leverage the greater magic diversity in early wars plus rush Construction to gear them up for big army support when you are lacking mages in the early-mid game. But definitely using Philosophers at all is sub-optimal when Mystics are already great researchers in magic scales and you will be recruiting these in every off cap fort anyway.

@@CairnEnjoyer Yeah pretty much. Philosophers are great but so is everything else on EA arco so the competition is ruthless. fully endorse going Titan on this build though - something to actually leverage the cheap research/mitigate low mage count
