This will definitely slip into 2025. I dont fault FBW but volunteer work means they are doing this whenever they can.
Idk I think they will probably aim to release it alongside MSFS 2024. And it looks really close to being finished. Maybe just some minor polishing and a couple Liveries.
Still looks like they are blowing away that group that is working on the A220 though. This vid has actually operating footage of it taxiing, flying and exterior model. Meanwhile that A220 was announced back in 2021 and we haven't seen any of that. Even the 757 that is being developed looks further along than the A220. Also if FBW can release the A380 before Flightsim Labs releases anything in MSFS then that is commendable because as you said they are simply volunteers... (but somehow still working faster than even payware devs lol)

You guys are awesome, I really appreciate all you've given to the FS community. Makes a huge difference in immersion, your traffic alone is great & I love A320 also. Looking forward to you're A380 whenever that happens, but I know it will be worth the wait great !

Impressive a "PMDG quality" addon completely for free. I am totally impressed.
They claim they will have time compression support. I doubt it will be anything like PMDG. "The A320 has time compression support" Uhh... no it doesnt

@@freewayfive7142 I believe it will be. Sometimes it happens that Freeware projects are better than payware. These guys truly do it from passion and their hearts.

They are doing this in their free time and the A380 is completely free which makes it a non profit project you should instead thank them for it and donate if possible

Tried the airplane at FSexpo here are my notes for it:
FBW A380X NOTES MAY 2024 (FLIGHT TIME 0.7 HOURS)
MODEL:
UPPER DECK PARTIALLY MODELED, YOU'VE SEEN PLENTY OF VIDEOS OF THE MODEL ALREADY.
HANDLING:
AIRPLANE IS A LITTLE MORE SLUGGISH THAN THE A320, BUT STILL VERY RESPONSIVE (LIKE FLYING A BIG A320). FBW SYSTEM WORKS AS IT SHOULD. BE CAREFUL DURING THE FLARE, YOUR DEPTH PERCEPTION WILL BE DIFFERENT THEN OTHER AIRPLANES DUE TO THE COCKPIT HIGHT (SIMLIAR TO FLYING A 747).
SYSTEMS:
AUTOLAND STILL WIP A LOT OF SYSTEMS STILL INOP, FMS WORKS, SEC FPLN, DIVERSIONS, ETC STILL INOP ECAM PAGES WORK, CHECKLISTS ABSENT, AUTOPILOT AND RNAV STILL HAVE SOME ISSUES (EX ATHR NOT WORKING SOMETIMES, PITCH UP TENDENCY FOR THE A/P), 30% BUTTONS WORK ON OVERHEAD, A380 RELEASE SOMETIME BETWEEN NOW AND 1 YEAR LATER. OIS AND TAXI CAM NOT PLANNED AT THE MOMENT, MAYBE IN THE FUTURE AFTER A380 RELEASE, SAME FOR DIFFERENT CABIN OPTIONS.
PERFORMANCE:
FUEL FLOW 7T/H PER ENGINE AT TOGA AT SEA LEVEL, 4T/H AT FL250, MAX TIME ACCELERATION 2X
FLIGHT PLANNING AND NAVIGATION:
SIMBRIEF WORKS LIKE THE A32NX AFTER LOGGING ON WITH MY OWN ACCOUNT ON THE EFB, TEST FLIGHT PLAN KSFO-VIDP, FLIGHT PLAN LOADED FROM SIMBRIEF WITHOUT ISSUES (SINCE THIS IS A LONG FLIGHT THE PLAN TOOK ~30-50 SECONDS TO FULLY LOAD AFTER PRESSING F/PLN REQUEST ON THE INIT PAGE), W & B AND FUEL LOADED WITHOUT ISSUES FROM SIMBRIEF, LOADED TO 556T FLAPS 2 TOGA PWR, BARELY ROTATED OFF OF 28R NEAR THE THOUSAND FOOTERS, VR IS 165 KNOTS, FUEL FLOW IS A LITTLE LOW COMPARED TO SIMBRIEF. ALSO MADE A FLIGHT PLAN LOCALLY NEAR KLAS, MANUALLY PROGRAMMED THE FMS TO FLY THE HOOVER8 DEP AND THE ILS 01L APP, THE AIRPLANE FLEW THE DEPARTURE AND APP WITHOUT ISSUES (TESTED THE AUTOLAND, STILL NEEDS WORK, LANDED AT -700FPM).

You'd wish this was better done than PMDG.
I highly doubt they will have anywhere close to the amount of time compression support PMDG has with their 777. I can run 8x time compression and the plane flies perfectly. I also doubt they will add pause at TOD.

@@McAero08 no i definitely understand and fly using all aircraft systems however I do not have 13 hours in a day to sit at a computer. Proper time compression is becoming a valuable tool for simmers to fly real world routes in the time that they have to dedicate

Maybe FBW should reconsider making this a free addon, and get paid for their hard work. I wouldn't mind forking out some cash for this at all! especially if that means they can dedicate more time to the development and the completion of this and other planes :)

It's open source and that is always going to be freeware but you can give a donation if you want. Kind of like Linux .
I disagree unless they started properly scheduling staff and meet deadlines. Currently they are just doing things whenever they want which means this will likely be pushed to 2025.
@@freewayfive7142 Exactly, so it would be beneficial if they could give up their dayjob and dedicate all their time to making MSFS planes. The A380 wil probably be in even higher demand than the 777, so I imagine they could make a good bit of money out of it, as well as being able to release it sooner. I'd be all for it
@@payt01 agreed, an 70-80$ price would be well worth it so long as it’s near the same level of pmdg which I don’t think the current version will be. It will be similar to the 320 being not as good as fenix
By the way, there is no such MCU. It’s called MFD (Multi Function Display)

Probably can’t because of the license it operates under, which iirc means you can’t charge for it.

It's the GPL license I think, which allows commercial use. However, the caveat is that if you use GPL licenced code in your product, you will need to share the source code of your entire project to the end user under the same license, and they are free to distribute the product and source code as long as they retain the GPL licensing. Obviously this is not ideal for distributing a payware aircraft

@@CactusBravo42 Yeah licenses are a huge rabbit hole. Basically, if you wanna open source your code, use the GPL or AGPL license if you want to ensure your product remains free and open source. Use MIT, Apache or BSD if you don't care about that

@@neth77which a350 isnt going too be freeware anymore? I only know about two A350, the dfd and the one by ini. Ini will most likely be payware but dfd always stated to make it freeware. Shouldnt have changed, cause the dfd one will use code from fbw (fmsv2 i.e.).

pmdg 777 landing gear isnt even proper, and its payware, fbw is free and has verification from 400 pilots!

I'm sorry I just flew the A320 Neo and perhaps it's an issue with the latest EXPERIMENTAL version, but there's an issue with the taxi.. the plane would accelerate to 50+ KNOTS while the thrust levers are on idle...
The A320neo, when light, can accelerate quite fast on idle. This was confirmed by real-life pilots as being realistic.
On a side note - the experimental version hs been discontinued for a while. Do you perhaps mean development version?

maybe your thrust is stuck just apply full thrust and then go idle it might not show but you're probably not in idle.
