    These are some of the cleanest and informational vids I've seen for any game yet. I especially like when you talk about spacing and timing in detail. It is not obvious to everyone that a delayed input is necessary for a section to connect. I think this is what is lacking from most (in-game) tutorials.
    Very well done. And thanks.

      But in UNIST tutorials and character trials, it's clearly specified when an input needs to be delayed or charged. That's why this game has one of the best in-game tutorials ever.

    • @ThatGBAGamer
      @ThatGBAGamer 5 років тому +33

      Learn in segments! Learn the directions and notations and start doing them individually to where you don't even gotta think about it. Once thats done practice a combo with notations and do it 30 times. Once you get the flow take off the notations and try to say them in your head until it feels natural. Once its happening subconsciously you'll have to start learning strategy but thats after!

    • @lastans18
      @lastans18 5 років тому +26

      Some drills I find useful: this is a little winded so please bear with me. I hope this helps.
      1)Try to do the movements of the combo with a stick/controller that is not logged on. Just practice going through the motions of the combo. This will help get your hands used to feeling natural doing the motions. For example: before I play I will go to training mode and work on ⬇↙⬅ and ⬇↘➡ without pressing the button and just watch the character move just slightly to ensure the inputs are correct. I'll do ten per side and then half circle motions. Slow to fast but focused on clean.
      2) watch and learn the pattern of the combo. They all have a rhythm. Download a metronome app on your PC of phone and you can use this both with the first tip and in real time in practice mode to help with timing execution.
      3) discipline and reward yourself for input mistakes and clean inputs alike. When you get frazzled and start mashing it out, give yourself a punishment (ie pushups, squats, etc.) This will not only give you incentive to get better, but you will also physically benefit from it as well. And when you execute well, reward yourself with whatever treat you enjoy.
      4) Practice both sides. Each side feels different on the hand and through the eye. Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
      5) As the first guy said break the combos down. But also only perfom each section of the combo until it is comfortable and then build from there in real match speeds.
      6) Be patient, take breaks and stretch your fingers. Sometimes taking a break after working a tricky combo you come back and are suddenly able to nail it. Sometimes a day of rest is necessary. Let your body and mind absorb the information and feeling of the motions.
      7) Have fun and work at your own pace. No need to get upset when it is only fun. No one is pressuring you to get better. We are all here to help each other get better. No one is judging you for not being able to hit that ridiculous combo. But it'll be dope when you do.
      8) and above all else believe in yourself and encourage others.

    Nice video :) i have a problem hitting the dash 2c. any tips?

    • @raidhyn
      @raidhyn  5 років тому +16

      All of Akatsuki's Dashes are links, not cancels. If you're not getting the dash you're likely inputting it too early. The window for it is very very small but gets more comfortable with time.
      For me I wait to input the dash as the animation for 6c is ending and he is drawing his fist back after the uppercut. Hope that helps and good luck!

  • @GonFreeccs123
    @GonFreeccs123 5 років тому

    Awesome video! Quick question, whenever I go for 6c>214b I miss the first hit of the armor pierce kick, is that a problem with my spacing or with my timing for the link?

    • @ITNoetic
      @ITNoetic 5 років тому +2

      Try that string out in one of the mission mode combos. You can watch the CPU do it. There's a delay in some of the moves you need to do. Basically, stretch your combo out a little longer when juggling, and they'll be lower when you do 214B, so all 3 hits will connect.

  • @drwill439
    @drwill439 5 років тому +1

    I need better execution. I always drop j.C>j.A due to the speed at which it needs to come out. Even when I get that link, I normally drop the button afterwards. How do you improve inputs?

    • @ImSomebady
      @ImSomebady 5 років тому +1

      Practice and consistency. Remember that when you input j.bca, you are not linking the air attacks, but chaining, so you can press j.A during the j.C animation, with no delay between the buttons needed

    Really struggling with the midscreen OTG combo route. Almost every time the fireball will just whiff unless I delay the 2b>6c greatly, and in that case the j.bc lands but the final a always whiffs. Any tips for that one?

    • @raidhyn
      @raidhyn  5 років тому +1

      Yeah. Keep messing with timing and do each part separately. It takes a while. Honestly the hardest combo in this whole video and I still have trouble with it.
      For the j.bca that part is faster than you think it is. Think of it as squeezing in the j.a where it doesn't belong before you hit the ground. The timing is pretty quick.

    • @VulgarBearSteak
      @VulgarBearSteak 5 років тому

      @@raidhyn I've been wood-shedding it since I left the comment and I'm getting it a decent amount of the time. Thanks a ton for the help. It seems that getting the really deep dash was the most crucial for landing the final part of the combo

    • @raidhyn
      @raidhyn  5 років тому +1

      @@VulgarBearSteak woo progress! Once you get a feel for it it's definitely much easier to do. That dash window is tight. One thing you can do if you don't get a deep dash but land 5c at the tip you can jump and do j.b air tatsu which will still connect and give you corner carry, just less damage. Useful if that dash isn't deep enough.

    • @raidhyn

    It’s already giving me a headache at 14 seconds in...I’m not good with technical terms! Just say stuff like ⬇️↘️➡️ triangle and neutral circle! I get that you wrote it that way for the sake of abbreviation, but THAT DOESN’T FUCKING HELP FOR NEWBIES LIKE ME!
    This is exactly the kind of shit that makes fighting games feel unfriendly and near-insurmountable to newcomers like me!
    I get the idea of special directional inputs like quarter/half-circle forward and the “shoryuken” input (➡️⬇️↘️) because of Terry Bogard getting into Smash, but still! Firing off so much technical terminology at once without explaining it doesn’t help! If I have to repeatedly pause the video to figure out what the fuck you’ve written, then something’s clearly wrong!
