Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
Vaccine Safety Technical (VaST) Work Group
ACIP meetings are open to the public
VaST session on May 17, 2021
Included several presentations on myocarditis following mRNA vaccines
Reports from
Department of Defense (DoD)
Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS)
Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD)
Veteran’s Administration (VA)
Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment (CISA)
VaST concluded that there are relatively few reports of myocarditis
Cases seem to occur
predominantly in adolescents and young adults,
more often in males than females,
more often following dose 2 than dose 1, and
typically within 4 days after vaccination
Most cases appear to be mild
Follow-up of cases is ongoing

Is there a politician that would even comment on male vs female safety issues? I think they are more concerned about their careers than about our health.
... you guys literally called people concerned about vaccine safety "conspiracy theorists"
Bit late for this expectation now
The politicians don't make those decisions. The medical professionals do. As it happens, with AZ in the UK,169 females and 138 males have suffered from the clots associated with low platelet counts, so Johns suggestions based on the J&J vaccine are wide of the mark for the UK.

As always since January 2020 I tune into Dr;Johns videos. I’m a 68 yr old woman have had depression episodes in winter. Since taking vitamin D this winter the depression episodes were rare. Finally I had the answer. Vitamin D. !!! Thank you Dr. John
: ) Good to hear Deborah. Spreading the word might remind others to try or suggest others to try. It is obviously not the solution for everyone but can an will ease the suffering for some.
Superb. We tend to lack minerals in our diets. My age similar to yours. Niw and then I take some zinc and iron. The iron especially has quite a profound effect
Vitamin D has helped my mother as well. Be well ✌🙏🕊
Glad to hear Deborah vitimin D Will lift your mood plus you will sleep better with your 90 minute sleep cycles try it 5 cycles equals 7.5 hours and you will feel great 6 cycles equals 9hours sleep that with your vitimin D intake will make you have great energy levels stay safe best from Glasgow scotland 👍
Vitamin D is a necessary for Autophagy process to work ... so even if you were in perfect mental health ...it is still useful
Reminder for all that Vitamin D is extremely important in its moderating inflammation.

What is the mechanism of vaccine induced myocarditis and how many vaccinated people are walking around with mild asymptomatic heart damage?
"What is the mechanism of vaccine induced myocarditis" Unknown
My _personal theory_ would be something like loose spike glycoprotein (or some spike glycoprotein subunit) travels to the heart, binds with ACE2 receptor on cardiac cells, the resulting glycoprotein-ACE2-receptor complex is flagged by the immune system as not-self, eliciting production of antibody against this complex. Because of individual variation, some subset of individuals produce this antibody while others don't.
This proposed mechanism would also explain why Corona-chan herself induces myocarditis as well as why people who have been exposed to Corona-chan and are then vaccinated are more likely to develop myocarditis. They are being exposed multiple times to the spike glycoprotein.
"how many vaccinated people are walking around with mild asymptomatic heart damage?" Unknown and unknowable, unless large segments of the population are screened for it. Should also be specific here and note that myocarditis is not itself the same thing as heart damage. If myocarditis is severe it _can lead to_ the formation of scar tissue, which damages the heart.
Thanks Doctor. As always good clear information. We are all grateful.
Something to consider when looking at the numbers. Prior to the adenovirus vaccines, Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia was exceedingly rare and was typically only seen in patients with Heparin exposure. Myocarditis is much more common (3.1 million cases in 2017) and it’s generally seen more often in young men. With it being a more common ailment in this particular population prior to the mRNA vaccines, it might be more difficult for the regulating agencies to determine if there is significant increased risk to young men with these vaccines.

With work in Immune allergy etc. I was always concerned about vaccination, this late in the 100smillions of cases without Ab testing(which takes literally only a few minutes and could be done while you're waiting to get the vaccine) .Of course, and I would hope the MDs and Immunologists, step up, here, there should be NO need for vaccination if you already have natural Ab. It makes sense to me that a "larger" dose of Ag when you already have Ab, may generate a large immune response, should be obvious.P.S. I am in Australia and they point blank refuse to test for covid 19 antibodies. I was exposed to someone who had returned from Northern Italy and sick as a dog and I developed cold like symptoms afterwards( I had high vitamin D levels and still do) . I was willing to become a plasma donor to help with plasma for those with covid, if they tested me and I had antibodies. GPs point blank refused and said it was not allowed. Australian Red Cross blood bank who were BEGGING for donor who had covid and recovered also point blank refused to test for anti-bodies.
The percentage in Israel is much higher. Five million vaccinated is the entire population. Young people it is less than a million. According to data under the age of 30 the risk is one in 20,000. No small risk at all. In particular that this population is only slightly ill in Corona

Could it be that Myocarditis is discovered in young men more often because they are vastly more likely to do hard training than women and older men?
Possibly. When I go to the gym, there's almost a 7:3 ration of men:women. And guys (who are mostly between 15-45) tend to take a lot of shakes and are more likely to do demanding exercises.
50 years ago, yes. Now- no.
Or are young guys at the gym using steroids to get bigger muscles...
No, see dr Sucharit Bhachdi. Spike proteins will abound in vascular vessels and cause clotting. There was no off switch for producing spike proteins... go to the hospital if you have unusual headaches or swelling in limbs or other organs, heart, liver, Kidneys etc.
In general there is a different likelihood suffering from different deceases for women and men. There are loads of factors that could be the cause for this, both external/cultural activities and habits, like you suggest, or internal/biological, like hormones, lung capacity, muscular, or whatever. My guess it's a combination of many of these.
It seems to be we need in general to be more aware of differences between men and women and age ect when diagnosing illness ect and how to treat it. It seems to be very important in many regards . Maybe we should strive for a more individual and differentiated way of handling illness and health

It’s generally accepted that only 1% to 10% of adverse reactions are actually reported. What has happened to our world over the last 18 months.
Mass stupidity, that's what happened.
That doesn’t matter though, because even with 1% reported to VAERS, they can spot patterns and investigate further. That’s why try paused the J&J vaccine administrations when there were only 6 cases of blood clots, then they investigated and found 28 cases.
You need to understand what VAERS is for and how to use it properly.

If the at-risk group for post-vaccine myocarditis is basically males under 30, then that's the ones doing military or military reserve training in Israel. And the only times we've known the occupation of American victims, they were in the National Guard, too. 3 deaths within 3 weeks of vaccine. 2 in their 30's and one who's 65. All blood related. Stroke and Heart attacks
Where I work there's been two more deaths from heart attacks. Again, one in 30's which is being investigated but recently had vaccine.
And now my dad's friend died following the vaccine who was healthy, didn't smoke or drink. Vaccinated then immediately felt sick then suffered a stroke dying the following day.
To my knowledge, NONE have been reported / yellow carded linking to vaccine. I can't confirm that for all of them but at the time, none of them were considered to be vaccine related.
And yet, with Covid, the opposite approach was adopted. My mother is pressuring my dad to have the vaccine which he doesn't want (moreso now his friend has died) and my mother still has headaches every day following her 2nd 4 weeks ago. This is apart from studying whether giving two different types of vaccines could offer a broader spectrum of immunity. Does Canada have data on their adverse reactions associated with vaccines? I have understood that there have been plans to offer different vaccines, as first and second doses, in parts of Canada due to shortage of vaccine supply.

The sex difference with regards to side effects is interesting. Curious to see how they'll navigate that minefield given current sensitivity around such issues.
That’s easy. If I get a Pfizer shot I declare myself a woman and take a hot bath. If I get AS I’m a man. It also works with toilets.✊🏿✊🏿
I suspect there is reluctance (among officials) to differentiate between the sexes in the vaccine approach because they'll have to include some sort of statement about where trans people fit in. That's the real minefield.
@@davidbarry6900 I don't think they care about social minefields as much as you might think. The problem is more likely that they aren't sure if it's hormonal or not. If it's hormones you could recommend trans people taking HRT to go with their transitioned sex recommendations, and if not then to take the vaccine recommended for their birth assigned sex. The risk is small enough that letting someone choose between the two isn't unreasonable. What we don't need is a blanket statement for everyone.
Perhaps the risk is small enough that they'd rather not say one way or another, but it would be nice for some more detailed recommendations.
@@davidbarry6900, your comment is insightful. Sadly, such hesitation is borne of ignorance, perhaps due to the siloed nature of knowledge in different sectors. I suppose this is where translational research scientists such as Dr C. become an important bridge.
Indeed, gender responsive vaccination is potentially a politically explosive issue. However, the speed of adaptation to life with Covid evidenced in early 2020 suggests we have the global capacity for adaptation toward potentially life saving gender policy and practice if needed.
Should the public sector remain hesitant about making bold statements, one hopes that the emerging Covid private sector will drive change, if only to protect bottom lines. One motivation toward shared problem solving is that for minority communities worldwide, including LGBTQ, lack of clarity on gender specific safeguards may further compound preexisting factors underlying vaccine hesitancy. That is one issue government and private industry can agree needs addressing.
These are infinitesimal small numbers in the first place - Dr. C. may be jumping the gun on recommending one vaccine over another. I could picture as more data comes in new trendlines may be established.

@@daverok1113 Seriously, this is a numbers issue, we have a very rare event with a gender difference showing but until we have a large enough sample size of the rare event, we don't know if the gender difference is actual or just a coincidence for now. It's just like how we first thought the blood clots were just a one in a million or one in two million event initially but as more vaccinations occurred and monitoring for the conditions actually started being systematic, the data has gradually moved to the 1 in 55,000 range. Drawing cinclusiins on rare events are priblematic as you are talking about subsets of an already exceedingly small sample set and simply crying "false" on social media doesn't change this. And also the adverse affect reporting such as UK's yellow card system supports what I say, not your claim of "false" as the reporting shows the incidence are exceedingly rare and indeed in the UK they're still saying it's around a 1 in 150,000 incidence while other health authorities are saying their reporting systems are showing a 1 in 55,000 incidence. As to referencing social media commentaries and interpretations, well that's also not relevant except for protecting your cognitive bias, basically for protecting your ego.

I’m wondering if the timing of the second dose has an affect. The US spaced theirs at 3 weeks. Will be interesting to see the stats from the UK that spaced at 12 weeks.
The trials were designed to evaluate SAFETY! & efficacy with a 3 week spacing, yet our glorious leaders decided to make that spacing 12 weeks!
I'm scheduled for my second dose 7 weeks after my first.
I reckon spacing the doses so very close together as 3 or 4 weeks has made adverse reactions to the second dose worse.
There is already a study out that the 12 week spacing produces a stronger mid-term immunity (nobody knows about long term immunity).
I expect that in 2022 the recommendation will come out to space out the vaccine doses by 6 to 8 or 6 to 12 weeks, but officials will want more and stronger data to make that call officially.
This is just my opinion as a layperson closely watching the situation.
@@Lost-In-Blank I reckon the exact opposite: the side effects will be worse after the longer spacing because the body has had more time to build immunity. The studies show the first shot increases efficacy long after the 3-week mark, it's just getting started building immunity at that stage so it very possible if not even likely that also the side effects will increase with longer intervals up to some point where it levels out.
