EXCELLENT - Jah Wobble is one of the greatest - yet one of the most under rated by the mainstream - British musicians of all time. A talented, genuine and honest creative genius who stuck to his guns and had it his way. Huge respect
Sono d'accordo è un grande in
Italia è praticamente sconosciuto dal grande pubblico
Più sono bravi, più vengono trascurati.

That half hour has made my day!...Big fan of Jah W and PIL. These guys are 'kin awesome. Also loved the PIL variation...superb! Got to add these guys are so tight!...That drum kit sounds sublime! Way to go guys!
Wobble - massively underrated!
The personality and music of Jah Wobble are all about diversity. From pungent London punk underground over rose pedalled Algerian rai-music to jasmine scented Chinese dub.
Jah Wobble may be best known as a member of Invaders of The Heart, Deep Space, and now The Damage Manual. Wobble was also the original bassist for Public Image, he has also played with David Holmes, Holgar Czukay, Primal Scream, The Edge, François K and Brian Eno, to name a few.
Born John Wardle in Stepney, East London he was given the name Jah Wobble by a drunken Sid Vicious, who also loaned him his first bass guitar. Embracing both punk and reggae, Wobble created an original rock/reggae hybrid all of his own.
The Sex Pistols connection continued when Wobble joined John Lydon in Public Image Limited (aka PiL) with his distinctive low-end bass providing the backbone and heartbeat of the band.
His critical stance towards the commercialisation of the music business, compounded by heavy drinking and drunken brawls, led to his abandoning music - it was him who attacked rock journo Nick Kent at the Club 100 after a harsh and aloof review.
For a short period in the mid-1980s, he worked a variety of straight jobs, such as for the London Underground. In an oft-quoted tale, it is related that he once, at Tower Hill Tube, humorously regaled commuters via the Public address system with the deadpan announcement, “I used to be somebody. I repeat, I used to be somebody.”
Still, he continued to perform and record his music in what spare time he had.
Wobble has since collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, including original Can members Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit, Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Bill Laswell, Harold Budd, Sinead O'Connor, Primal Scream, Natacha Atlas, and Bjork, and his output has spanned a number of musical genres including avant-garde jazz-rock, English folk, multi-cultural fusion, ambient, dance, and the writings of William Blake.
In the late 90s, he set up his own independent label, 30 Hertz Records, and has released a series of more experimental, non-commercial sounding records, including cross-cultural projects, such as Chinese and Japanese Dub.
Yaaaaawwn!!!
I thought you were highly informative there btw not boring at all
public image!!!!what a suprise to hear it !!!
I hadn’t listened to jah wobble for ages but this really hits the spot.Excellent arrangement and musicianship.👏👏👏👍
Listening to Public Image for the first time since the 80's. Wow! it's gone from a rough diamond to a fine cut.
This session has now removed all darkness from my soul. Can't beat a bit of Mr.Wobble.
Love Jah. PIL's strength lay in his bass playing & Lydon's searing delivery of lyrics. It's great to hear these newer songs and some of the revamp. But why, oh why, was the mix on Jah's bass-playing so low? One never hides one's strengths...
That's the best half an hour I've had in ages ❤️
I wouldn't quite say that Jah is a "Invasion" I would more say that He is the "Essence" of the heart.
"It's perfect... oh so perfect...." That was fantastic, thank you.
no lie - saw an ad for a Brooklyn show feat. a white guy named Jah and had to start digging. holy moly. count me in. i'm all aboard. and a helluva group of musicians around him
Really impressed, I had no idea that Wobble had progressed to such heights. Well played all.
Ja woble has been a favorite musician for me over the years since first heard PIL circa 81 or therabout, so happy to hear his creative soul over the air waves. ....and i miss the good ol days in the 80s....
Jah's really feeling it! I love how he directs his band, he really gets into his own head. He inspired me to be a bass player.
21.30 wins the internet. The Bass has no natural predator. Gold!
Saw this line up in Chicago in 2016. Wonderful evening with our very affable host. The bass in the mix was decidedly throbbing at a higher level than this one. My sternum was rattling.
Mitch McNeil seen this line-up 5 times now, sadly May’s Albert Hall show (on my birthday!) with The Psychedelics Furs may not go ahead. This drummer......
Woah!! Best group to come through the KEXP studios in years... Top notch musicians all around.
Man that part where he pretended to be in the studio was really really cool.
I loved it, was grinning like an idiot all through it.
Legend. John´s life should be a source of inspiration to everyone .
agreed. his auto-biography is excellent
Very nice! Good to see that Jah never stopped evolving.
I'm married to a bassist so Jah is my second most favourite bassist... just though...
No one has bass tone like Wobble. No one.
Public image knocked it out of the park - the best ever!
moment of pure musical bliss, Jah Wobble the groova man yeah ! thank you thank you thank you thank you...onandonandonandon
Amazing! Not listened to this band for decades. What a transformation
The jazz at the end is hugely enjoyable.
jah wobble und bill laswell, sinb für mich die götter am basssssss
"Congratulations; you passed the audition." SOLID GOLD. Much love and so glad I once saw you live. Bracknell, Berks. maybe, not too sure!
Saw this band on Friday night at our local in Guildford, Surrey, England after missing them last time round. Loved the gig. Such a talented line-up that John has there. I really hope that they return. Thank you for that Seattle!
Such a great musician and what a band.
Awesome. Always have time for the Wobble
love, love, love he played Liquidator!
CFC for life
still love your Work!!
pleasure, thanks gentlemen for the proper music.
Accidentally came across this, so glad I did. Cosmic Blueprint is great fusion. Excellent! I'm off to buy this!
Distinct Herbie Hancock Headhunters vibe on Cosmic Blueprint.
Terrific ensemble playing
The Legend Lives On...
See you tomorrow night!
Great show!
Awesome show, Awesome Band
Masterpiece!
love love love
Outstanding!
è un artista stupendo
Nice job by Kevin Suggs. Taming THAT bass must have taken a day filled with expert diplomacy. The only time I ever saw Wobble live was in the Caverns in Glasgow, with Bill Laswell and Jaki Leibzeit, and some other famous names I've now forgotten. The problem was the only sound that could be perceived was the bass. Not heard (or even felt) but drowned. Jaki spent the whole gig at the front of the stage with a pained expression on his face. The man is brilliant!
Liquidator! I saw him play that one live after talking about how it inspired him.
United by our love of Ska..you know who you are!
And that drummer was heavily invested!
my kind of music\
Jah, like Sting, is really influential for many beginner bass player who wants to play simple yet interesting basslines. Not everyone can start on RHCP and Primus lol.
Wow a bass legend, very good band 2.
Saw these guys on Saturday night in Frome. They were cooking on 10 burners. Awesome gig.
Wonderful - London Punk Jazz! Love it.
What a great band
Fantastic
CONGRATES U SOUND FABULOSO THANKS
I went to University of Huddersfield with Martin, the guitarist (playing the Ibanez). Top top bloke, and supremely talented.
Jah Wobble is a fucking legend.
Pretty wild. Jah's records are not EZ to get here in the states. I know i am missing a few but i am glad somebody finally uploaded BTWN 2 FREQUENCIES to the Utube
Yeah! Jah! Yeah!
Grrrrreat!really nice guitar playing too
That version of Public image was A M A Z I N G
Merton Library ...Wimbledon & some ❤❤❤😮❤❤❤
Whoa, this was really cool!
Whoa, Snap! Heard them in Belfast last Saturday night! Best gig of my life!! The sound here though clear, doesn't do them justice. The bass was Vibratory, in the Chest-al Area!!!!
thx
I like it
素晴らしい音楽に感謝🧘🏻
He is a GOD.
Jah Wobble has a Great nearly uprightish sound… sure due to the Tapewounds….great sound….
fuck yeah jah wobble
Holy shit
cebadísimoooo
Channeling Harold Shand - I wish I had kept my PiL metal disc records.. in a metal disk. Must be worth a fortune now.
Great, although I thought Jah's Bass was too low in the mix.
Yes, very low!!! I just saw them last night, and Jah's bass totally FILLS the room. The sound engineer obviously hadn't heard any of the Wobbles work before, or decided on a change in emphasis!
Yes I saw him w The Invaders in 1995 at Womadelaide...and the mix was great w Jah's bass just right, you can barely hear it in this mix. Lucky you seeing him recently :)
Yep I agree
I have an awesome sub on my PC's speaker set. Sounds fine to me.
Use a good headphone and you can hear the bass perfectly.
great BVs
Jah... i would like to invite you for a Coffe , whereever you are.
Still can't understand why the CDs were deleted off a sites and now it's very rare to get them
I agree that the bass is under-mixed. We're missing it!
Get a better sound system for your PC. My sub is rocking this.
Great…
seeing him tonight with Bill Laswell! in SF
saw them in Belfast last Saturday night!! Best gig of my life!!! As good as they are here, it was Mind-Blowing live!!!!!
My Gooowwwdd!!! How did did you do ...????
Of course, he's not taking the piss.
London Underground's loss is our gain!
I am MADE UP that Google/UA-cam let me know this had happened! and mashed to view it...
What's up, Kevin Cole.
Jah Wobble strokes black nylon...How good can it get? Saw you in 82ish at the Warehouse in Leeds. I tried to play bass and the guys I tried to copy were you and Jean Jaques Burnel...I prefered you due to my reggea obsession...I played a round wound nylon Ibanez BB400 :)
unleecensedminky
Jay wobble playing at vintage TV
A very clever man
What an excellent cover version. Even better than the real thing.
hard to beat two drummers, no pun
He looks at 'DJ El Toro' like 'who is this prat?' And who can blame him?
#bassgod
jah wobble with "gum strings"?
lots of praise for the band but I couldn't catch any mention of their names? wtf?
He should cover metallica ...and justice for all
awesome last track! were is this album available?
Keeping Jah away from the very volatile Ginger Baker was probably very wise.
Intro to Cosmic Blueprint sounds awfully similar to iron Maiden's "run the hills'.......
Fuck I never noticed that.
I've listened to the album about a hundred times but never noticed it!
Wait is Jah playing through that Micro SVT?
I've been looking for the band that performed Bagpipe Music the song for over a decade. Anyone know who actually sings on that track?
never pretened brother
