Its not that hard and I didn't have any experience with drawing people or took a lesson or watched tutorial nothing. Take a A3 paper and draw big :D thats how you learn it
MaskaraGirl xXTotallyxX So true XD It was pretty funny, I drew my first perfect hand that wasn't a fist and my friend jokingly said "curse you and your hands" cuz she couldn't draw them yet. Since then, I can't draw another perfect hand XD
DankBurstFlame // i always see a style and want to draw in it but i'm bad at replicating things and i'd be accused for """stealing"" the artstyle, and i want it to be unique to me so i'm just stuck hating my stupid artstyle
*Who else went into the "the sketch looks amazing but when i/you do the lineart it actually sucks" phase* ??🙌🙌 Edit: i pray for all the people that replied to me about being in that phase soon graduate 😔😔✨
I actually learned that you don't have to make it the same width. Its better to let it be slightly messy. Having different strokes makes it have more depth actually.
Lmao when I was about 12 the only animes I knew were death note and yandere so I loved it and I thought that all anime was edgy and dark and creepy but then one of my friends showed me fairytale and I dropped anime like I'd grabbed the hot end of a curling iron cause I cringed so hard lmao because lemme tell you I hate fakeout deaths and even more I hate every villain turning good.
I'm in the "I want to have a cute art style that will be faster to draw but I want to keep the anatomy correct like a taught myself my whole life- anyways it sucks and everyone else's style is better and nobody likes me" phase🥰
Honestly same- except for the part "fast to draw" I don't care how long it takes, I want to have a good art style. Instead I find myself not even being capable of drawing stickmen properly
Bouvardia Aj what if you can't keep a style. Example: Two days ago you drew exactly like LavenderTowne, yesterday you could only draw like Draw with Jazza, and today you draw like Jaiden Animations. ( I dont mean you would draw like UA-cam Artists, I mean you would draw in completely different drawing styles each day, cuz thats how I seem to draw :/ )
I’m still pretty young, so I haven’t found my style yet. You definitely helped me understand how. Thanks! Also did anyone else go through the “always have the hands behind the back” Anime phase?
@@how.do.i.delete.this.32 i actually gotten better at the hands lol and now im in the head is too big phase i gotten good at hair too so i think im improving
I'm scared that when I find a style I enjoy and am comfortable with its gonna be really similar to someone elses and then its gonna seem like I'm just copying them
I know that feel. Until like yesterday, I was convinced I'll always use a quite realistic artstyle because I just love kinda realistic artstyle. Well I was just scribbling on paper a few weeks ago and I've drawn some chibi weird things. Yesterday I came to the horrible realization that I actually like them and now I can't decide which is my main artstyle. Like wtf brain?
After I watched this, I sat down for 8 hours straight and tried different things, and I’ve actually begun developing a style!! Very helpful, thanks so much!
Thats how I was for the longest time until i started looking at my friends's art styles and took some things i liked and applied them to my art style... Hope this helps ❤️
Just keep drawing. Would find it. Don't think about that when you're drawing. At some point you will bild one. It seems to me that I have no style either but I've stopped care about that too much or I would stop drawing. Don't worry it'll happen.
How does a simple word make someone sound idiotic? It is the internet. Even if it made them look strange, they don't have to type the same way they would in an essay. Let them type the way they would like to, please. Thank you.

YALLLLL heres a tip that no one told me, idk if it’ll work for everyone but heres what i did: i started drawing in pen instead of pencil and because you cant rub it out i just went along and kept sketching in pen, because of that it made my drawings better? cause i kept practicing instead of rubbing it out and thats also how i found my style in such a short amount of time. (also look at other artists styles and see what u like and try drawing that but dont like fully copy it) its only been a few days and ive found a style i really like, i just need to work on the eyes :)
I found my style while making fanart, i never used eraser as a child i always just draw with pen even now,i can draw a finished thing without erasing a thing and my style is pretty realistic so
I went from pencil to Ink pens! I got really bored with me erasing every tiny thing I thought looked wrong, So I stopped drawing for a time. until I started to draw with ink pens (Thanks to Inktober that got me interested) It felt easier in some weird way, because I couldn't rubb away the mistakes, so I got more confident that "I can actually do this!" instead of "That looked bad! Just rubb it away!" The only time I use pencils is when I am sketching really lightly! =) I often draw nature like trees stones mountains (landscapes) and houses Sorry for my bad English! I don't speak it normally!
I remember when I was in 3rd grade I sat next to these to girls who said my stick men were ugly and then I drew some other thing with no nose and then drew a nose like 5 years later and felt so proud
I can’t believe I’ve watched you for so long! I decided to return to this video specifically since I want to start my own channel and comic now that I’m older and could handle that. I’ve noticed my art still has aspects I picked up from you from when I was 10 years old. You’ve been one of my biggest and most consistent motivators in my art journey and I’m really glad I found your channel. So even if you don’t find this comment I want to leave my thanks since I don’t often comment. You’ve been and will continue to be a great artist and inspiration to me.
@@matt-sn9mv I know, it's hard to find art styles. I'm quite creative (according to my friends and family, though personally I think they're over exaggerating) and yet I found it hard to find my style 😂
@@yurigacha-san1367 Being unique isn't really what art is about though. Look at anime, all of it has a relatively similar artstyle. You're allowed to have an artstyle similar or the same as someone else's as long as you're expressing yourself and like what you're doing.
Brain: Ok guys, all we have to do is draw a straight line. Eyes: Yeah, I think that should be easy. Hands: Could I offer you a snake in these trying times?
My style is just weird xD (my profile picture wasn't drawn by me I found this picture on google and I didn't saw a "devianart" watermark so I just take a screenshot from it {Yes this isn't a picture,it's a gif} and I use it untill now except when I found my artstyle and I will change this photo
can I just say, my art style was also a bit inspired by yours, I love your style so I decided to get some stuff from it and implement it into my own style, you were a big inspiration for me
Does anyone get like, art style dysphoria?? Like I like semi realism but I also love cartoony stuff too and my art style basically goes back and forth :///
I adjust the realism depending on the character. I usually make more stoic or scary characters lean a bit more on the realistic side, but it can also go the other way 'round.
juunbug I have roughly 5 different art styles that I switch between. So I agree. Semi-realistic (like comic books), more cartoony, and a lot of little variable styles
I can't draw a stickman well, they always turn out wobbly. I'm used to sketching realistic crap so I used quick little pencil strokes. Great on you to be able to do that, cuz I can't.
*My art style started from copying Greg from Diary of a Wimpy Kid and gradually changing my OC self to look more like me. But I haven't picked up a pencil in like two years.*
How to develop your artstyle? In 4 steps Step 1: learn anatomy Step 2: learn how to draw hand Step 3: learn how to draw cute girls Step 4 draw cute girls holding hands
and don't forget: coloring is also a huuuuugggee part of your and other's styles! lines make up one part of your style, but color can make up a massive part of the personality of your art. like- do you use more saturated colors or blanched out colors? what about shading? or what about complexion on skin? even lighting or how you color eyes can carve out your style and make a difference. i know with my art the finished/colored product always looks different than just the lines
Mine: TheOdd1sOut's body + Jake's eyes + Rigby's mouth = Cartoon perfection. XD Edit: Oml can you guys stop? My art style has changed completely since then-
This girl gives better advice than the more popular artists. You deserve so much more love. My cousin showed me this channel a couple of weeks ago because she loves art and knew I wanted to get better at it. She is really inspired by you, and so am I. You are the best!
A lot of my friends are like: "I'm not a real artist, I only draw Anime" and I'm over here like "How is it POSSIBLE to draw Anime!? I suck at drawing Anime! Teach Me!"
What my style became since it took me forever to get liners and pens scared me: Commitment? Line art? Never heard of it. That said, I've actually had a lot of people tell me that clean lines just dont feel "me" and that they preferred messier sketches or messier/more jagged line art. I also kind of prefer it (and not just because it's easier)
I absolutely love ur style. It's so cartoonish yet charming, and it's different from other people's art. It is good to be able to draw with every photographic detail, but it can as well get boring as there is such a lot of artists doing that and even though their art is just beautiful and stunning and all that, I much prefer it when people have their own style that makes them different, even if the proportions of the face are not quite correct ( depends on what we call correct :3)
Smile :) photorealism is quite impressive and can be boring, but for me i add realistic elements to my style. The characters have proper human proportions except for their faces. The noses are longer, mouths are smaller and the eyes are oval shaped. Like a squished up 0 (zero). Thats basically it, besides the fingers being sharper and clawlike, and a few characters having horse bent legs. Lavender towne' style differs from mine of course but hers IS really good.
I am so glad I watched this! Thank you LavenderTowne! I was having so much trouble drawing to the point I wanted to quit until I watched this! This is why you are my Idol at drawing!
I have the complete collection of the Calvin and Hobbes comics! I got them two years ago for my birthday, before I knew what it was, and now it’s my favorite comic!
I copied alot of garfield too back then. And I made this huge drawing of garfield for my art class, and they had my drawing displayed for an event. After the event my mom wanted the piece back so she could hang it at home. I was running to my teacher's office to fetch the piece when I saw him throwing it in the garbage so yeh :/ I stopped drawing garfield ever since.
Oh no, that sucks. Keep motivated and draw! I haven't had that happen to me, but I have dropped a little watercolor drawing on a rainy day and just died a little inside
I drew a Chinese dragon in and advanced art class, they hanged it up for a contest, I won, went to go get it and found some other students looking at it then shove it in their bags. Little me was pissed.
I feel the same way I have a generic art style but it changes on the character. Some times my eyes are sharp and then sometimes they and round and simple but then the body is sometimes changed so I don’t really know my art style
try drawing each one for atleast a week or a month. When your done with all of them choose the one that your more comfortable with, the one thats not too complicated for you or not too easy for you, and then keep improving on that one.
Yes, don't listen to them! My style USED TO be like perfectly proportional characters BUT their eyes and mouths were bigger and more expressive. People were calling my style ugly all the time at school, later when I tried to find a publisher and so on. This devastated me so much that I gave up on it. Now I draw anime and want to kill myself. Now when I look at those old drawings I see a style that was MINE that was a part of me and it was ruined because I was an idiot. Don't listen to other people. They are not you and they cannot tell you how to draw in your style!
I have the same problem now with my uncle saying that my drawing needs to be realistic like some artist he knows, but between you and me.... WE DON'T NEED TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE LIKE THEM, WE HAVE OUR OWN STYLE AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE!! NEVER FORGET THAT!!
I agree with the "copying" of art styles, as in go for it! Everyone starts somewhere (for me it was crudely drawn anime characters) and as I got older, I started to compare my art to others, not in a bad way, but to see what I might've been missing anatomically or coloring wise and boy did it help. Eventually I kinda jumped on the bandwagon of the SU art style, but it turned into my own thing and to this very day I'm still on the journey towards finding my own art style. So if you're having trouble finding what yours is, don't be scared. Experiment! Try things outside the box! Even that silly little doodle you drew on one of the corners of homework or something can help! And great video Lavender! :D
I know its different for every artist, but how long did it take some of you guys to find a style? I love drawing, but only if I have a reference and know exactly what I am drawing. I want so bad to be able to draw without a reference and with a style but it takes forever! 😖
Drawing with references isn't cheating, if that's the reason why you want to totally dump them. A lot of artists out there use references. The thing is, though, when you're using a reference you tend to copy everything you see and that makes it hard for you to put in your own ideas. I'm finding it hard to find my own style when I'm using references but I won't dump them yet. 😂
Loreal Not Paris I never plan to stop drawing from reference- I think it's really important. And you're right, it is hard to get your own ideas from copying something, which is why I'd like to learn what my style is :)
Cat Cake72 Keep crafting, that's what people say. And you know what? That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna trash my projects for school and do what I love. 😂 Good luck to you! ☺
Inshirah Ali Do you always listen to you teachers when they discuss new lessons? If you are not such of an angel student... Maybe you should try what I always do: Step 1: Look at your teacher... pretending you're listening. Step 2: Take out your notes... and pens... and pencils... Step 3: Find a blank page/space Step 4: DOODLE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! That way you can practice and improve your drawing skills... Omg... wait... Mr.Teacher is going near us... Step 5: Look at your teacher again... pretending you're listening and interested in the lesson. You might as well turn in the other page with no doodles... and write some words that he keeps on saying... But I don't recommend this if you don't like failing grades... I have failing grades... so... yeah... I got used to it XD And if you're not a student anymore... FIND SOME FREE TIME TO PRACTICE YOUR DRAWING... Hope it helped! -A useless tip from a friend (Nhori) lol are we even friends? XD
The copying thing is actually what actually made me take drawing more seriously. I would redraw lots of scenes from Hazbin Hotel and that influenced some of my art
sailor mooo-roblox and stuff Try using a light box to help trace it. Once you trace it a couple times, your fingers and brain develop the muscle memory and it's easier to copy it. Or maybe try drawing the same thing in a different style. When I first tried to draw animatronics, I drew them EXACTLY how they looked and came out awful. Then I developed my own style for them and now I've perfected it. Just play around with it a bit, you'll figure it out eventually

My art style is cartoony but with an anime influence. I love anime eyes but also smooth, cheerful shapes.

That's mine too! Simple style but with an anime feel

YALLLLL heres a tip that no one told me, idk if it’ll work for everyone but heres what i did:
i started drawing in pen instead of pencil and because you cant rub it out i just went along and kept sketching in pen, because of that it made my drawings better? cause i kept practicing instead of rubbing it out and thats also how i found my style in such a short amount of time. (also look at other artists styles and see what u like and try drawing that but dont like fully copy it) its only been a few days and ive found a style i really like, i just need to work on the eyes :)
I found my style while making fanart, i never used eraser as a child i always just draw with pen even now,i can draw a finished thing without erasing a thing and my style is pretty realistic so
I only found my eye style, but i will try what you said
The eyes are the hardest because they make things look completely different
Pen's good
I went from pencil to Ink pens! =)
I often draw nature like trees stones mountains (landscapes) and houses
Sorry for my bad English! I don't speak it normally!
I felt like my drawing weren't complete enough
Then I added a nose
And now I always draw noses
I remember when I was in 3rd grade I sat next to these to girls who said my stick men were ugly and then I drew some other thing with no nose and then drew a nose like 5 years later and felt so proud
Lol

and don't forget: coloring is also a huuuuugggee part of your and other's styles! lines make up one part of your style, but color can make up a massive part of the personality of your art. like- do you use more saturated colors or blanched out colors? what about shading? or what about complexion on skin? even lighting or how you color eyes can carve out your style and make a difference. i know with my art the finished/colored product always looks different than just the lines

Agreed
Smile :) photorealism is quite impressive and can be boring, but for me i add realistic elements to my style. The characters have proper human proportions except for their faces. The noses are longer, mouths are smaller and the eyes are oval shaped. Like a squished up 0 (zero). Thats basically it, besides the fingers being sharper and clawlike, and a few characters having horse bent legs. Lavender towne' style differs from mine of course but hers IS really good.
Smile :) yeah
her voice is so calming

I copied alot of garfield too back then. And I made this huge drawing of garfield for my art class, and they had my drawing displayed for an event. After the event my mom wanted the piece back so she could hang it at home. I was running to my teacher's office to fetch the piece when I saw him throwing it in the garbage so yeh :/

Stick to the one you're most comfortable with, and experiment with different styles by slowly De-emphasizing or emphasizing things.
try drawing each one for atleast a week or a month. When your done with all of them choose the one that your more comfortable with, the one thats not too complicated for you or not too easy for you, and then keep improving on that one.

dont listen to them! dont let anyone put down ur style dude. do what YOU want, not what someone else wants
alec a thanks ♥️
Yes, don't listen to them! My style USED TO be like perfectly proportional characters BUT their eyes and mouths were bigger and more expressive. People were calling my style ugly all the time at school, later when I tried to find a publisher and so on. This devastated me so much that I gave up on it. Now I draw anime and want to kill myself. Now when I look at those old drawings I see a style that was MINE that was a part of me and it was ruined because I was an idiot. Don't listen to other people. They are not you and they cannot tell you how to draw in your style!
Sara Stanojevic I’m sorry that happened and thank you for the encouragement

Step 1: Look at your teacher... pretending you're listening.
Step 2: Take out your notes... and pens... and pencils...
Step 3: Find a blank page/space
Step 4: DOODLE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!
I have failing grades... so... yeah... I got used to it XD
And if you're not a student anymore...

sailor mooo-roblox and stuff Try using a light box to help trace it.
