Hey Iram, thank you so much for watching and subscribing! That's amazing. Yes, so many people wrote me they don't like how the aerial roots look and they cut them, I thought it's an important topic to talk about
Hi Anna, I have an overgrown monstera, which was re-potted by professionals about 3 years ago. I have a huge sentimental attachment to this plant, which was initially very small & belonged to my sister. I took the plant from her in 2013 & told her I will return it to her when she is healed from cancer. Sadly, my sister passed away in Sep 2013. This plant is beyond Precious to me. I have had it for 9 years. I would Love to hear your expert advice on caring for it...... Thanks in advance.
Hey Noni, I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. It's very tough to lose people we love and I can imagine what that plant means to you. As for conditions, they like indirect bright light. I think watering is the most difficult with them, as they may get rotten, if overwatered. The leaves get black spots and turn yellow, if overwatered. If your plant is too big and it's hard to repot, maybe use fertilizer to provide nutrients to it. I guess it's a huge tree already
It really depends on so many things - size and type of the pot, temperature, soil type, plant size. I would leave the soil dry out between watering. My big one, which is about 2 meters high, is in a very big pot and the soil stay moist for longer time than my small ones. The smaller ones are in a 12-16cm pot, I water them every 4-5 days, in the summer maybe every other day. The one in the big pot is in a clay pot. When I water the clay pot gets wet too. So, to water the next time, I check the soil, try to touch the bottom of the clay pot to see if it is still moist or not. It's better to water them less than overwater them.
I stopped after perlite plus wood chips since the wood chips does the same thing as perlite so it's redundant. Been doing it that way for years. My 25+ year old plant used to give me two new leaves in Spring and Fall but since I started feeding it my homemade fertilizers, it's now up to five 2wice annually

How often should you water the monstera plant?
