Some days, everything flows. Sometimes, the clay wants to be something you didn't plan. It looks like the whole process went perfectly. I love those days. Everything turned out so beautiful!
I think my favourite of the bunch is probably the big blue plate. It has some lovely variation in the glaze that just makes it looks so interesting even with how simple it is. The edge grooves are awesome too. I love pottery with texture. All in all, a great set!
When you said "welcome these pieces into your home" it gave me goosebumps. I often think about the pieces that I sell and hope that they make peoples lives ever so slightly more whimsical.
The aet as a whole is wonderful. The glazing of the big plate jumps out to me and I fell in love with the subtle scalloped edge from the moment you carved it..
Love watching you and how you make things. You are so real and it is so great to see how true you are! I have the same wheel as you and was wanting to also make some plates.. Your bats look really easy to work on.. and was wondering what material and thickness they are made from.. Thank you for the way you teach
Oh I love the floating equations as you're trying to remember how to do the thing! And it's really neat seeing you draw those round curves with the plastic circle thingy. I just love watching the process of pottery so much. The bubble/donut plate is definitely the coolest idea, but they're all so pretty and interesting that it's hard to pick a favourite... the one where you left the texture around the rim looks really neat that way, and the one with the sharp spiky sunburst silhouette is so cool-looking, and the kinda bowl-ish one with the petals is pretty and nice, and that nerikomi, dang! So nice! And the one with the sort of lil stripes of contrasting colour radiating on the edge, that's so nifty and striking! I think maybe the one I'd most want in my own home is the big big blue one, #7. I can imagine using it as like a decorative platter to serve big stuff on at a dinner party... it's such a nice kind of swirl situation with the colour, like, it's got a subtle visual interest to it, texture and character but nothing too overwhelming? That's the kind of thing I really like. On the other hand, if I ignore the colour and just look at the shape, I'm most drawn to #8, with that super smooth bowl situation. I could see it being a favourite plate for big meals - I just really really love that simple smooth curve.
Thank you for taking care of yourself. I always love your work ❤ Ever since I started watching your work you had mentioned something about your mental health and so I started talking to my teens more deeply and getting them the help they need because there is so much negative stigma on mental health that they struggled to reach out first. ❤❤❤ you are an inspiration and have truely helped my family thrive. Thank you soooo much for being unique and original
Love the scalloped bowl! Like you said its perfect for pasta. I think I'll try that soon. I know its always an awesome feeling when everything turns out, very happy for you. :)
These are beautiful. I love them all,but my faves are the small blue star plate, the large blue bowl and the plate with the contrasting stripes. Great job!👍🏾❤️
As a beginner to ceramics, you inspire and motivate me to get a master degree in ceramics! It’s like i want to learn more and more and one day have my own ceramic studio 🥹🤍
And I do like all of them, they’re beautiful! I think my two favourites are the big plates, one with the varied blue glaze, and the other with the dashes around the edge
The outcomes were great! Congrats on going through without any cracks or setbacks - a testament to your making! I love functional ware. The blue glaze is so gorgeous. Tho I kinda felt like the title was misleading - I thought we'd go though different techniques to make plates like slap, moulds, coil, hand-building, throwing, different techniques for throwing. I'd still like to see that various ways to make video!
15:00 For me, I'm not looking at buying plates (for now, until I get my own place) but I have some things I'd look for. 1- I'd prefer to have the larger plate be max 11"/28cm, preferably smaller. This helps me control portion size. 2- Has to be microwavable. We had a set of plates that you needed oven mitts to remove after 1 min and the food was still cold. 3- Has to be stackable. 4- Easy to clean, but I think that already happens with the glazes for food safe ceramics. I really like how the plates turned out ^^
This is amazing. I’m trying to open up a pottery business where I live. I might need to “borrow “ some ideas. Thank you so much. Love your channel and I’ll take a look at your website.
Great set!!! I imagine this whole thing as a great set to display your amazing party spread of delicious food!! Charcuterie needs MORE pottery in it! You’ve inspired me!
I like all of them, but would be more likely to buy the scalloped bowl and the little sun ray plate. I would like them in the tan speckled clay, but I like the blue too.
I thought of a cool idea while you were forming the beginning. Make a chip and dip bowl/platter with a middle chip bowl and a dip ring around outside, like a moat.
horray, happy for you, the 'flower' shaped plates were pretty especially the one where you hardly took anything off around the edge, the larger pieces, i especially like the one with the clock face rim detail with the alternative colour clay. The blue on some for me pull it all together. i know its easy to see the faults, but you are a great potter thats why we all watch you, you cant control the clay, the kiln gods all of the time thats why ceramics is so exciting, keep going, doing what you do, huge fan x
This project turned out so well, I felt compelled to comment. I LOVE the idea of a set of dishes that are related but mixed. I'd have to have an idea for a complete set of 6 or 12 to decide on buying a set, but if it wasn't astronomical (and I have to say to be fair, that I'm past the age of throwing dinner parties -- but if I still was, I'd consider a set like this), I think it would be very tempting. If you get the type of response you'd like to do this, maybe could design two or three sets and get deposits for orders? If you start selling again, you could take pics of each set, and maybe one set with you when you show? Either way, I've been loving your work. Thank you for sharing. :)
Even if it was subconsciously done, I like that it elevates the ephemeral paper plate design into something permanent that could last thousands of years.
I buy you all!! First time here and i love your style!! You make me dream! One day may be i will have my studio to work like you for hours with my hands!!❤
Glad everything went according to plan, your plates are so charming! Are you not gonna do the abstract self-sculpture episode? I was excited to see your take on that!
Sorry, I planned to skip it! I am more into functional wares (or at least stuff that alludes to function haha) I wouldn't even know where to start with an abstract self-portrait!
@@PotterytothePeople It's totally fine I respect the choice, it's just fun to see you take on big projects! By the way, I set up my home studio at the beginning of the month which has been great for me, been making a lot and will venture into renting a kiln for the first time in April! Appreciate your videos a lot!
Wheres is the chef who does the 9 cours meal for the plades? 😉 all looking nice. And yes those will sell, all of them. My favorite is the bluish one with stripes.
I've seen pots that are only a centimeter thick. I've also bought dishes that were made by experienced potters that broke because they were to thin for daily use. I think you could make them half as thick.
I have been wanting to make some plates,so this video comes at a great time for me! It is hard to choose a favourite, I really love the stripes, and your blue glazes are magical. The scalloped and detailed edges are also beautiful. I'm wondering where you got the dividing circle? What is it called. I would love to have a tool like that! I loved this edition, and I found your joy at the end completely relatable!
you should mention the great pottery throwdown in the title and thumbnail😭 i didn't click on this video because i thought it was a tutorial, and i don't do pottery im only here for entertainment
I agreeee that flower bowl is so whimsy and joy I love it But I assume I probably wouldn’t be a purchaser because international shipping costs I suppose you could do a preorder sale so you know how much genuine interest there is ?
Yeah plates to the people! Please sell some! 🤩
plates to the people! hahaha! 💙

All in all, a great set!
thank you!! 💙
This project turned out absolutely amazing.
I love the big blue plate and the nerikomi plate. You are very inspiring and fun to watch 😌 thanks for sharing
When you said "welcome these pieces into your home" it gave me goosebumps. I often think about the pieces that I sell and hope that they make peoples lives ever so slightly more whimsical.
yes!! 💙💙
I love the big plate with the stripes of other clay. All of them are gorgeous and simply connected.
That's a special one 💙
I think they are a perfect family together ❤
Thank you! 💙
The aet as a whole is wonderful. The glazing of the big plate jumps out to me and I fell in love with the subtle scalloped edge from the moment you carved it..
Thank you! 💙💙
This is so helpful- i really loved the bat method combined with the wheel- i have struggled with plate making a lot. I love the bowl!
Love watching you and how you make things. You are so real and it is so great to see how true you are! I have the same wheel as you and was wanting to also make some plates.. Your bats look really easy to work on.. and was wondering what material and thickness they are made from.. Thank you for the way you teach
I love how they are all
unique and yes are part of the family. To hard to pick my favorite but the scalloped bowl might be it 😊
mine too 💙 thanks for watching!

Wow, I like what you did. My favorite is the plate that looks like a flower. In the throwdown I'd like the sets of Kiefer and Thomas very much
Thank you for taking care of yourself. I always love your work ❤

Gosh you made throwing plates so easy. ALL your plates look great together, I like the variety so they definitely would look great for a tea party.
Thanks so much! 😊💙
Love the colors! Would definitely purchase these if I were in the market.
Awesome! Thanks for watching 💙
Truly truly love the concept behind these plates! 🤩😍
Yes, I would buy them, especially the blue and speckled ones.
I love most the nerikomi plate and the big plate with the stripes of a different clay ❤, but all was beautiful 🤩
Thanks so much! 💙💙
Great job!👍🏾❤️
absolutely love that blue glaze and that darker clay together
As a beginner to ceramics, you inspire and motivate me to get a master degree in ceramics! It’s like i want to learn more and more and one day have my own ceramic studio 🥹🤍
wowza! I never even studied ceramics, so you're going to blow me out of the water pretty soon :)
Oh you should do it!
A great set, and it will be so much fun to set the table and serve food on this family of plates and bowls.
I would definitely buy the flowers ones (especially the smaller one) and the small plate with the "fatty" edge❤
And I do like all of them, they’re beautiful! I think my two favourites are the big plates, one with the varied blue glaze, and the other with the dashes around the edge
I love these! The blue starburst plates would be something I'd buy a whole set of.
💙💙
That blue! SO GORGEOUS!
💙💙💙
Love your designs. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! 💙
They all turned out amazing! My favourites are the nerikomi one and the larger cream colour plate with the other colour pieces fitted into the rim.
I'd still like to see that various ways to make video!
oops! Sorry about that! I guess I should mention wheel throwing at least. I will consider changing it!
ok I just changed it to 'throw a plate'! Thanks for the feedback, that's really helpful.

Really like how harmonious the colors and forms are.
These are so pretty! I love the bubble plate. Very funky
Wow! Love these! I especially love the big plain one that is a tiny bit bowlish. I would buy this xxx
Love the big blue plate, nerikomi, and the more simple bubble rim white plates
I would totally buy sets! Redoing my kitchen and thinking of buying handmade pieces!
I love the small flower plate, and the bubble rim plate, and the large bowl x
Turned out so well! Love them all together.
Thank you! 💙💙
I love these! Such a great set! I love when they match but aren't all matching! Perfection!
Can you please please please add a mini Tutorial for a how glaze the look of the big blue plate ( 13:37 )? It looks amazing ❤
I have a video coming out on that topic soon!
This is amazing. I’m trying to open up a pottery business where I live. I might need to “borrow “ some ideas. Thank you so much. Love your channel and I’ll take a look at your website.
I love all of those. I would buy the star/sun blue plate.
They are all perfect! I can't define a personal favorite 😊
What a funky set! Love this project
Yay! Thank you 💙
Great set!!! I imagine this whole thing as a great set to display your amazing party spread of delicious food!! Charcuterie needs MORE pottery in it! You’ve inspired me!
Agreed! Glad you like them 💙
this is a great collection!!!!!! I love the sunshine looking one!
I would buy nerikomi dinner ware and specked glazed ware. I particularly like high contrast clay and glazes.
Would absolutely buy a plate!! They came out soo good!
Is there nothing you cannot do?!? Love this!
That is kind of you (but there is plenty haha) 💙💙
This series is so fun!
Its fun to make! 😄😄
❤❤❤FLOWER PLATES❤❤❤ I would love a complete set of flower plates bowls and mugs❤❤❤
I like all of them, but would be more likely to buy the scalloped bowl and the little sun ray plate. I would like them in the tan speckled clay, but I like the blue too.
Hi! I love your work. Yes, I would 1,000% buy your plates and basically anything you make!
I love the one that looks like a flower!! 🌸😍
Thats my favorite too 💙💙
I love them all, truly. I would buy and use them all.
thank you 💙💙💙
I thought of a cool idea while you were forming the beginning. Make a chip and dip bowl/platter with a middle chip bowl and a dip ring around outside, like a moat.
It is absolutely stunning, love the shapes and shades and would adopt them without any doubt
yay! 💙

I have never made plates yet, you have totally inspired me!❤
Love the set Amazing
Thank you 🤗
I have a bat with foam glued on for trimming. It works quit well to hold the pot or plate
Die sind alle wunderschön. Ein Tisch gedeckt mit all diesen Tellern wäre ein Traum!
I would definitely buy #5, #7 and #8! Love the set overall but those are my favorites ❤️
Thanks so much! My favorites too 💙💙
Your set is much more nicer then the sets from the canadian throw down!!!
That is very kind of you to say 💙
I love them all! You made it look so easy. I would purchase them all
Yay! Thank you!
Yay to things going to plan! I really like the XL blue plate that has a nod to paper plates. I’d buy that.
omg! I didn't see it before but I totally see it now. That's some subconscious object memory 🙌
Even if it was subconsciously done, I like that it elevates the ephemeral paper plate design into something permanent that could last thousands of years.
I loove the flower plates and the nerikomi sm! Would prob buy the sun and flowers among all of them :O :)
Thank you! 💙💙
I buy you all!! First time here and i love your style!! You make me dream! One day may be i will have my studio to work like you for hours with my hands!!❤
The one with the gravel texture on the outside, and the one with the sunshine stripes on the edges

Such great results! If I may ask- what bats are you using?
Thank you! My friend made them for me so unfortunately I dont have much info on the material. It’s some kind of hard plastic.
I love your work! I would buy your plates snd bowls!
I would absolutely buy these! Probably for a decorative plate though because they are too nice to use 😂
i would totally buy all of them, great work ❤
💙💙💙
Hey Mia, can you tell me how you did the formula bit around 3:30? Making that happen is critical to succeeding with a movie concept I have.
Love this! May I ask what the circle tool with the lines for measuring is called?
The one at 15:08 is my favorite. I can't afford to buy anything, but it would be a cool set to have. :)
Quel talent 😍
💙💙💙
These are lovely! ❤❤❤
How are we not in the same pottery world? I’ve only seen those bubble plates once!! Lol
All of them are ❤❤❤
thank you!! 💙
beautiful!
Bonjour, I prefer the 2 plates with stripes around the rim. One has clay strips added to the rim and the other one has carved strips.
Thank you! I love them too 💙💙
