I spend some time with Chris, a 52 year old expat, who after a year, is leaving Cebu and moving to Dumaguete. Is he making the right decision?
Chris's UA-cam Channel
/ @carefreechris
The usual hangout location for quick pick up’s is TGIF in Ayala..it’s hilarious watching these old dudes acting as if they were ballers or Hugh Hefner at TGIF..then what’s even funny is when they walk around the mall looking like grandpa and his grand daughter..
chris seems like a nice guy, but acts like he's some expert after living in a bubble area for 10 months and snagging the first girl he basically dated there. 3k needed for a monthly budget?? lmao. maybe when you eat in ayala mall 3 times a day with your GF
He seems like a nice guy. But I'm clicking off now that you got to the "hate culture" in the US.. I spend 2 to 4 months a year in the US. The kind of division he is talking about is online mostly. In real life, and I spend most of the my US time in NYC, people are friendly and doing pretty good. So I'm avoiding this argumentative perspective I see mostly in online conversations. People get caught in their online bubbles and are constantly outraged by opposite online bubbles. It is not what I experience in the real world.
They do exaggerate it or mislead. Half of it comes from the fantasy media, as to make it seem everywhere and affecting everyone. Division is normal (natural) in a place where different distinct peoples are forced together. It never really works. That's the way of the world, has been for ages. It's hard to say more on here with all the censorship about these topics.
Yes there is a great divide in the US that is why I watch BILL OREILLY, he is 73 and has most of the same ideals that we all grew up with. It is no secret who is causing all of the presumed chaos in the US, personally I do not listen to all the noise and rarely watch the news.
@@robertdavis7312lol😂, people like Bill O'Reilly are fanning the flames! If you only watch one source, you are the definition of living in a bubble. Get away from the negativity!
I watch Oreilly he is an Independent and because he is my age. But I also watch Newsmax and Megyn Kelley periodically. Notice I do not watch NBC< MSNBC< CNN or CBS, I used to watch FOX NEWS until the 2020 election was stolen. Now days I rarely even discuss politics because it is a waste of time.
@@robertdavis7312 it wasn't stolen, you're just a loser 😭🤣
Why does this guy talk like a victim? In American, we are free to say whatever you want. Free to turn off the news. Free to move to any town and enjoy everything that America has to offer. Foreigners would love to switch places with us.
agree totally
We are free to move overseas too often living a better quality of life.
I went to the Philippines the first time July 2022 and stayed 7 months traveling from Dumaguete to Siquijor Island to Alona Beach Bohol to IT Park Cebu and Business Park Cebu .Spent a month or two in each place met some of you at Ground Zero Coffee shop. I didn't hesitate at all I love the Philippines and visiting each place for a few months. Be back in December one way ticket making it my second home.
You are not going to notice the division unless you watch the news, UA-cam, Facebook meme pages or go to church every Sunday which have become political centers these days. But as far as work and going shopping, there are no divisions. Yes, if you go to a poor urban area. Yes, if you go to a hillbilly town. But otherwise it's not noticeable except during a presidential election year.
Glad you kept it real by immediately mentioning the cost of living...which is the real reason other than females, that middle aged and older men go to the Philippines. Everything else is just justification/rationalization whether true or not.
Chris appears to be a high character human being. I only disagree with one point, in IT Park a foreigner can live off of $1,300 US to $1,500 US if you cook alot of food in your condo and eat out only 1 to 2 times per week with your Filipina. As Chris said he eats out all of the time so that is why his budget is a lot higher.
Yeah man. I eat out a ton
That was my thought, too @@CarefreeChris--$2k-$3k seemed high. But a) lifestyle choices matter and it sounds like you make good decisions wrt spending/saving; and b) maybe a bit of inflation (I have been monitoring Cebu/Duma prices for a couple years) and/or if the exchange rate goes the wrong way.
yup,,,,u can find a studio in IT park as low as $280...Most foreigners do not cook, so they spend a lot of money on food and girls. Some also drink a lot,,,,,I am paying in IT park $363 for newer condo, and if u cook healthy food at home u save a lot of money. But most foreigner here are fat and old, and they do not take care of themselves. YOu need money saved for medical emergencies also
Women who approach you only see you as a walking ATM machine. Lol 😆 😅😅
Faaaaacts 👍 lol
Good info Paul👍. 😂 important indeed to check for an Adam's apple too just like in Bangkok. The polarization I'm beginning to think is by design in the USA 😢. In addition to most speaking English in the Philippines I have been told by many who have immigrated to the USA that they remember that General MacArthur came back to help liberate the region from one of the toughest of Axis powers. Nice they haven't forgotten like most have in Europe.
I've been to both Cebu City and Dumaguete City a number of times. He's right - Ayala Mall and IT Park area is pretty good in Cebu City. Dumaguete is much smaller and quite noisy for a small city. I prefer Cebu City.
This is interesting
I appreciate this information
I have not yet visited Cebu
Only Dumaguete
I’ll have to check Cebu out in my next trip
Great interview. I landed in Cebu. Been here for two months. Chris is right on point. I live now in Lapu-Lapu in a rental house I chose Cebu for great medical care and I was right about that. Difference is I am old (79), don't drink, and eat out rarely. Just dumped two (yes 2) filipinas. I spoiled one and the other was just too young. Now I am seeking a Registered Nurse and/or a partner. Before too many jump by butt, I amambulatory and can pay for the nursing part and I will. I would love to meet Chris.
More money then sence
Wow 79 years old, a couple of hotties, good for you. Living the dream, hopefully God willing I'll make it that far. Sounds like it's been a good run for you. Take care, stay healthy. Enjoy.
As 35 yr old living in Colombia believing these are my best years..
It’s encouraging to hear a guy in his 50’s say these are his best years
good choice. I initially went there in 2007... with long term intentions. Then realized. Oh No. I play golf and the golf is extremely limited there.
These white guys talk about Filipinas as if they’re some kind of property or stock..that’s the problem with these dudes acting as if they’re more important than the people living and struggling in the country..just like the rest of of the UA-camrs that are from other countries trying to make money with the locals as props..
That’s why they are divorced and frustrated men. They can’t find a date in their own country.
Nice to see Chris on your channel. I was told that all the tall beautiful women were staying in Dumaguete when I first came to the Philippines but that wasn't true. What kind of woman can you find in Cebu? I was in Cebu when I found my pretty wife in Ozamiz online, took me 40 minutes to fly there and convince her that I was the right man for her😊. Chris is 53 I understand and I was 51 when I arrived in Cebu first time in 2006 but I quickly headed for Bantayan Island. Chris says "Could I live here?", yes and no. It is easy to think you will live in the Philippines when you are in your 50s but when you get closer to 70 you start to think. Anyway, I think we would choose to live on Bantayan Island if it wasn't for our children because the schools in the Philippines aren't great.
strange listening to you 2 after i watched phillipine pea who spent 3 months in usa and loved it, her interviews did not line up with one thing you guys said is not working in usa ...hummm living in thailand not sure to listen too.???
This guy doesn't come across as honest to me, earlier in the interview he says one of the advantages is it's cheaper to live, later he tells a budget of 2k to 3k!! Don't think he has the money he claims, probably $600, $700 budget!!
cheaper compared to the USA
Too much misinformation with these blogs..US 3000 to 4000..rubbish.2000 is more than enough..remember it is the Phil, not Monaco..many Amrricans like to brag how much money they spend!
He's living downtown Cebu in a nice place with amenities. Eating out most of the time, does some traveling without stressing over pennies. Has a 30 year old girlfriend. $3K/month is modest living for that. And $3K is almost poverty level in the states. Guy is living the dream for cheap.
you definitely don't need 3k to live near ayala mall and eat out most of the time. he clearly spends all his time in starbucks and TGIF, plus paying for all her expenses too@@glorgau
I find it interesting that so many older men are looking to bail out of the U.S. now. Just to be clear, I'm also in that cohort, but I think that my motivations are different from what I see in the comments.
The U.S. is my home, it's where I was born, and I will always love it no matter what. I'm a permanent resident visa holder in another nation but it's still my home country.
Comments here on this channel describe all this constant strife, but I just don't see it, frankly. There is a small percentage of people on the left who are very loud, very vocal, who insist that everyone needs to go along with this absurd make-believe world they have fashioned for themselves where a man can have surgery and hormones and literally become a "woman" and it's a world where almost everyone has been treated badly, either currently or historically, and now deserves to be compensated mightily in some way for that. They insist that everyone needs to join them in this ridiculous theatre of national self-flagellation. There is a slightly larger, but still small percentage overall of very loud, belligerent people on the right that who wrap themselves in the flag and hold a bible above their head, while angrily espousing violence and hatred towards other Americans, because those "other people" are not real Americans, and America is being destroyed by everyone except them. These phony patriots and phony Christians also have an alarming appetite for lies and completely unhinged conspiracy theories.
The people not in these two groups, the big middle, pretty much just want the people in these two extreme camps to shut up and let them live their lives. The perception that the whole United States is in some constant state of mayhem and imminent destruction is a false narrative.
You want to go to another country to live, to retire, to do something different? You should do that. Get on the plane tomorrow. It's a blast, I've lived in 4 different countries, it's a great experience, and if you choose well, you can get the same (or even better) quality of life that you have in the States, but for 30%, 40%, even 50% less than what you pay in the U.S. It will change your life for the better.
All I'm saying is that it is not wise to base your decision to leave on the premise that America will soon have a civil war, or, is in danger of collapse soon.
civil War is not likely because most people are cowards. they will allow this nation to continue to degrade. are actually slaves taxation greed. Inflation has destroyed the economic future and well-being. murder, rape and theft is everywhere and continue to get worse.. freedom is constantly at risk. don’t care about anyone they treat you very rude and there is no safety net here. This nation has rejected a moral culture of decency. apathy is everywhere people don’t care about what others are going through. If you live here in America and you don’t experience this, then I would say you’re blind. people don’t go to church and they don’t put the values of morals first in their lives. America is on the decline. there is a lot of Islamic influence in this country right now we’ve got Palestinians in Congress. Bad people. look at what the universities fostering teaching hate and antisemitism about Israel.
I agree completely and most of this men are looking to date girls 20-30 younger than them which they can’t do in the USA.
Cebu City and Dumaguete are like chalk and cheese. Cebu has all the conveniences of a modern city. it's very busy crowded and expensive in comparison to a regional city or province town. Personally I prefer being just outside the city limits Say Liloan to the North or Talisay to the south. Gives you the tranquillity of the provinces but close enough to major medical hospitals should it be needed. This is where Michelle and I differ due to her growing up in Lapu Lapu City she likes everything being close at hand which is not readily available in the province.
Chris's take on the States is not much different to my own in relation to Australia. The economic pressures racial and political divisions just make my home land unattractive to me and the life I wish to lead.
I disagree on many points here. This video is better suited for those who have never traveled or very little. Frankly when I venture into a new country the LAST thing I want to see is a bunch of American corporate restaraunts. I would rather begin the adventure immediately. I think so many American are so scared to come here they tend to migrate to places line Cebu, Duma etc. Come on guys, grow some! Emerge yourself in the country and cultures you chose. If you need all the luxuries of the US stay there. And for gods sake don't be like so many that come here and do nothing but bitch about things
I find it interesting... that he says you'll need between 2~3K to live (closer to the 3K side)...then he will follow it up that the cost of living is "Nothing" compared to the states. Hmmm, I don't know, I can live in the states...own home and new car cashed out. Own an RV to go traveling up the coast with every year for well under 2K a month. Matter of fact, I can live in the USA pretty darn comfortable for under 1500 a month and still manage to put away a few bucks into high yield savings. So... If I gotta go fly half way around the world to spend close to 3K a month. Double what I budget in the USA, why bother? To be honest, the Phillipines wouldn't be my first choice to live, and the #1 attraction was that I kept hearing you can do it CHEAP, and still live a good, safe, healthy lifestyle. 3K? Nope.... For a vacation maybe. To me, it seems like the cost is going up and up... Or they see the white man coming and everyone just see's $$$$$. .... Let the party happen. I'm not into that. I just renewed my visa, and never have been to the philippines, I've traveled around Korea, and UK. So, it's not first time out of the states. I plan to go to Malayasia, then I am going to go to thailand and the philippines. See how I feel about it all next year for the summer months. Spend at least a month in each place. I'll probably be way over my budget, but.. I'll be seeing pretty good chunk of SE Asia. If I like a particular place, I'd have some wiggle room, to spend a month more there. If I don't seem to like any of it, I'll be booking trips to Singapore and Cambodia. But living half my life in Hawaii, I already know the deal. Over half my life have been with asian woman. Started off with a Thai/Chinese woman, then a Chinese Woman I spent over 10 years with. One day I'd like to visit China... The idea of moving to another country to live forever is really intriguing to me. However, my budget for me right now is 1500 a month. Maybe later when I get my SSI, and cash out 401K's and retirement I'll have a different view. I figure, if I sell it all I'll have well over 1 mil in savings. I suppose then, I could afford to live pretty much anywhere. But, that's another 7 years down the road.
Make it Cebu! The city is very near an international airport and better hospital facilities.
Finally, a guy that is honest about how much it cost to live comfortably in Philippines. I lived there so it always irritates me when I hear people say "you can live like a king for a $1000 a month". A monthly income of between $2000-$3000 is a good assessment but probably closer to $3000.
After 10 years in the Philippines I have found I live well on just over 1 thousand a month
This applies to you. If you can’t live on 1000 usd your just a spoiled foreigner.
$3k is gooooood. Anything lower than that is ( living locally and still okay, but better to have to budget $3k if you can afford that lifestyle is gooooood. I'm a Filipina, was married to an American guy from Michigan for 42 years lived in America to different States for 16 years and lived 26 years in Philippines till he passed away before COVID hit 2019, we lived happily in the Philippines but didn't live like the locals, maintained an American/expat lives.
@@carmelaelliott227 If you think I live like the locals I don't I own and run a car and eat the best food and sometimes buy important items
It does not cost anywhere near 3k a month to live anywhere in the Philippines, not even the cities. Otherwise, the entire local population would be homeless. I think you just are unwilling to take in the culture and still have too much of a western mindset.
Good stuff guys! I am watch both of you all the time. My ticket has been purchased for my first trip; doing Manila, then Cebu, then Dumaguete after that. Two weeks trip to get a feel for the Philippines. A good start. Maybe I can see you there. I have seen so many videos now I feel that I know you both already! Honestly, I can’t wait to escape this American way of life. It is not the same place I grew up in, not by far.
Baby Boomers will be at home in the Philippines because of our values and belief system. I personally am aghast at the rampant looting in high-end shops by gangs in San Francisco! What is happening in SF? Besides, in some cities US$ 3k a month goes to rental only. While in the Philippines, $3k a month in the provinces will afford a luxurious lifestyle. Just take care of your health/medical needs.
We grew up in the pre-Reagan years in America!
I wish I didn't mind humid weather. I tried out orlando, moving from idaho, and couldn't take it. I can imagine Philippines even more intense than FL.
Wonder what his initial attraction was, why the Philippines and not some other place..the divisiveness in the US was really exacerbated by the previous so-called president, he made it permissible to put down and criticize and deny truth and too many Americans too easily copied his example and still do..there are many places on our fair planet to settle in, so to each his own..good vid 👏👍🏻🇵🇭

One of the more common reasons among many of these vloggers who relocate to another country is to get away from the blind, woke sheep mentality that’s become so prevalent in the U.S. today.
You talk about filipino women like commodities. It’s a shame!
Good interview, Paul and Chris. Both Cebu City area and Dumaguete have their good points. Boots on the ground and take your time.
Glad you enjoyed it

$2000 to $3000 per month in the Philippines? Are you fecin nuts? Jeez , no keeping up with the Jones here !
Paul! Appreciate your videos, very informative and helpful. I have a question about the tensions rising between the Philippines and China … do you feel there is a concern? I understand you can’t forecast anything but I feel the phil/china situation may be a deterrent for some of us.
Its been of concern for a long time Mate, i have been monitoring it closely for at least 12 years, hopefully thats all it will be, a concern for years to come....... Best wishes.
From a guy from the US, that’s my take on the visual..
Having a good filipina with you is always a asset.
Totally agree
Good video again Paul been back in the states for 2 months after living in the Philippines on Samal Island for 2 years and can't wait to get back home.
I love America but hate living here.
I didn't come to the Philippines to feel like I was in the US... Did you?
I am 51 and married to a Filipina for 10 years. We live in the States but I have spent enough time in the Phils to know what's up. I have been talking to the wife about relocating to Duma or Davao. Her family is close but not that close. We have a budget of around $3000 because we both know what we like and want. I know it can be done for way cheaper but I can live the same way I did in America for way cheaper. I am all in. Before people get all mad, lets agree that we can all live the way we want to as our means will allow. For me, I can live within my budget and still save money every month. Great videos Paul.
It's the vicitmhood of America now, 😢 🇺🇸
I just want Chris to be "Hank from Breaking Bad" for Halloween and I'll be happy.
Thanks for the interview, Paul. You guys are right, it's hard right now living in America. Am 62 and retired. I only receive social security, so $2000 would be the max I could afford. I'll hang in here a little longer and make a decision by the end of next year. A lot will depend on how all these wars work out. A friend of mine just retired from the police department L.A.P.D. and gets $7000 a month, sounds great but he's worried about his pension plan being cut or going broke so a lot of his life is on hold. Too many ifs or maybe right now in the U.S. Good luck, Mike, in the USA
The problem is that too many foreigners are moving into the bigger Phil cities, driving up prices of everything. $2000 bucks is not going to get you very far in a place like Cebu City anymore. On top of that, the dating scene has changed dramatically with so many Americans in competition for the same girls. Ladyboys are very common there now, if you are interested in that.

Basically Democrats hate Republicans and calls them nazis if they support Trump. Just a fact.
Agree completely guys. Also, I feel that the Philippines value older people more than they do in the US. The respect the Filipinos have for senior citizens is beyond compare. The culture just dictates it I guess. Even when falling in line, they have a dedicated line for senior citizens. In fact for older Filipinos they get a senior citizens discount for travel, lodging and in restaurants. Another great video Paul. I’ve been to the Philippines twice and I land in Cebu and stay for two days to acclimate to time jump. Cebu reminds me of Boston USA and I’m a New Hampshire country boy. My lady and I always spend most of our vacation in Bohol and Siquijor which I find far more comfortable. So I’m trying to narrow down places to retire. Not sure why guys worry about bad Filipinas. If you see red flags, just walk away. I’m very red pill.
Hi PAUL , another great interview , TY . This gentleman said a few things that struck home for me and maybe others.
It is VERY SAD that I , as an AMERICAN , would think to leave a country that IS or WAS possibly, the best in the world....
I would be in the PHILS right now but for various reasons can t and SADLY may never get there.
Since I watch various VLOGS dealing with the PHILS , I see that several guys have returned to the USA for different reasons but are back in the PHILS or will be returning soon.
I mention this because I think that ,depending on where in the USA you used to live , the change both economical , political and prejudice , violence etc etc , is MORE visible.
I have rambled to much here . TY GOD BLESS CIAO
America may be the best country to make money, but for men without millions of dollars to burn, it's not the best country for "the good life." I've got a multi-millionaire bud with four mistresses, each of whom he pays $600 - $700 a pop. But for those of us who aren't rich, we need to go overseas to enjoy that kind of "Hugh Hefner" lifestyle.
@@l.rongardner2150 The best country with the worst healthcare.
Cool guest, seems like a nice guy but 2-3K USD is a helluva lot there and to be fair from a lot of experience i could not spend more than 20 bucks a day living in the province in Mindanao { a/c guest house and local restaurant meals } and in stark contrast week upon week in Makati in Makati { family visa issues } highlighting the massive diversity i felt poor on 80 bucks a day. i am 59 now and it will be a while if i ever do settle down in the Philippines but i expect to live very well in a small provincial town for approx £1200 / 1500 USD a month at current 2023 rates. Too add the UK culture has changed too for the worse, woke culture rules and too many snowflake victims, very few know the meaning of real work and good values do not matter amongst many of the kids..
2-3K USD is what it takes to live a decent life in Cebu City. Prices of everything have gone up sharply since many foreigners have flooded the bigger cities. You can still manage to live on 1500 USD if you live alone, don't date and avoid restaurants. As soon as you hook up with a girl, your cost of living goes up dramatically.

Chris seems like a great guy with a real quality youtube channel that I frequently watch. Great interview Paul!
if the USA is so bad then why do we have so many people trying to get into the country? To those that think the grass is greener in some other country I say then go there and live BUT they should not be able to draw their SS or pensions IF they reside in another country, plain and simple.
I've been waiting for this interview Paul. Chris is a good dude, I've been following his channel for 4 months. Great interview.
Thank you:)
ok so why is he leaving?
if you like to live in a place that has no trafiic laws or traffic police, no stop signs, where the drivers do not yield and have the me first attitude, rhen CEBU or even worse MACTAN ISLAND is for you. If you like to smell human piss and see trash and garbage everywhere, then CEBU is for you. If you like to go into an raunchy CR that smelle horrible and there is no toilet paper or hand towels then the Philippines is for you. Persoanlly, I am a farm boy that grew up in farm country in Ohio, so I am used to smelling cow and horse shit but not in the streets of our city......GET IT. Yes Asia has some beautiful women as we grow older they become even more attractive toan aging male but would you move there for that? Some do I guess.
If you don't have patience, the Philippines is not for you.
Great interview! The reality is, in US, at least for right now, all it's problems are unresolvable, all of them!
I am 31 and definitely qualify as a minimalist. I spent 2 years in oahu hawaii in a bus conversion. Last 2 years in san diago doing the same. Been watching you for a long time. So far i got 250k saved in investments. Going
Going to be making my first trip down around February. America is a great place to earn your financial freedom but I am helping southeast Asia is where I want to spend it.
My math is 360 k after taxes on a modest 5 percentage interest will give me 1500 a month. If I need more I will go back and work but that my game plan
There are risk-free returns in money market funds and HYSA now around 5%, but those rates will fluctuate. The general market outside the top 7 in sp500 has been bad for the past year and a half. I'm down about 12% over that time. It's difficult to know what to buy now, since the market may keep trending down or sideways.
I am 34 in a similar boat although I prefer living in US and making periodic trips overseas for vacation. Definitely helps to invest early and often.
So cool. Thanks Paul. Really appreciate it.
Take your time to find partner , check up ,her background education and morals . Don’t get married soon , spend more time knowing the person
Letting someone move in with you, or worst....getting married, is usually the biggest downfall for many guys.
Philippine monthly rental + round trip ticket to Philippines and back is equivalent to monthly rental here in Southern California. I keep thinking about that....
Fixed and variable costs will be cheaper the longer you stay. For example, stay one month and pay $1200 air fare ($1200 per month), Stay one year ($100 per month).
I agree with you guys, right now here in the U.S. there is a feeling of hate every where you go and is very uncomfortable feeling, it was very different 30 years ago 🇵🇭🇺🇸
all you guys have to get a little tougher .
All depends what part of the US and if you are in a big city........There are still many areas that have not gone to S***
Welcome to getting old. Nowhere is the same as it was 30 years ago.
the politicians and the mainstream media in America have done a great job of getting everyone to hate each other, and it is likely their only "achievement." right now i would not want to live in a large city in the U.S.
I'm from Cebu and a subscriber of Chris. Dumaguete is a smaller area closer to nature and beaches and a peaceful safe place. I wouldn't wonder why foreigners or expats would love to live there. 😉 Btw, I enjoyed your conversation. Very good advice to check the bones in meeting girls. 😄😂♥️🇵🇭
Just say no to an Adams apple, bwahaha!
Cebu is not THE Philippines, Much like Miami is not THE USA. Dumaguete is not the Philippines, much like Boise is Not the USA.
I don’t understand why you guys doing the expat Chanel’s, focus so much on how bad things are in your home country. There is no comparison between Asian countries and western countries. I am speaking from experience here, having a house in Thailand. Bars and expat meeting places are full of expats comparing things back home, to where they’re living now. Ironically slagging off the imperfections in the country they are now living in.
For me personally, I prefer to focus on what I have, and embrace the cultural differences, good or bad. I enjoy your channel, and many other expat channels. But beginning to get bored with listening to the same old comparison stories being regurgitated over and over again. Sorry for this, I just have to get it off my chest.
On a more positive note, I do love and watch all your Vlogs.
Interesting . . . I lived in Bangkok and now Sisaket province. My experience in the expat community here, including with Americans, is that none of us talk much about politics and divisiveness back home. As a result I have met a bunch of great guys I might never have met otherwise in the US.
Thanks for your response, I can’t comment on you and your particular group of friends. I can only draw from my own experiences. I also have come into contact with great people in Thailand. I didn’t mention politics in any way in my comment.
Best think is to get her ID Address Check it out to see if ID is genuine,,So when they scam you have details
Hey Paul, you guys just confirmed my plans and thoughts, learn to fly in Cebu away from Manila and then explore places like Dumaguete etc.
I look forward to meeting you and baby Mae before I even think of settling down. I need Maes' approval of the Filipina I'm hanging out with first.😄
Thanks Paul & Chris
Nice interview Paul. A few takeaways. I think the talk of discontent in the USA is way overblown. You can find it if you want by watching or listening to either FoxNews, Newsmax, CNBC, or daytime radio shows. Otherwise, it’s not a relevant part of people’s lives. While Chris is retiring early, you’re leaving an awful lot on the table by opting out of work the next 10 years. You’re losing on the low end $850,000 gross plus all that you add to boost towards your Social Security. Lastly, no talk of parents. If he still has parents, how do you pack up and leave them in their elder years for a 30 year old girlfriend? That’s a big trade off in my opinion.
Who cares. Your health isn’t guaranteed into your 60s
overblown?!?...lol do your research. Its the number one reason people are leaving regardless of what they are telling you on "the View".
Who’s leaving? I don’t see a mass exodus of guys. It’s a handful of disgruntled, mostly divorced guys who want to somehow reinvent themselves somewhere else. Most have narcissistic personalities and have it’s an all about me attitude. Many abandon their parents and other family when they need them to most to sit in a coffee shop in the Philippines spending part of the day talking about how bad things are in America.
don't think he has kids, never mentions them, said he's been divorced for 10 years, so sounds like it was a marriage later in life. definitely trying to reinvent. doesn't mention family. said he had no friends. @@regoparknyc
@@regoparknyc I think you are making alot of assumptions. Of course it’s not a high percentage of men that pick up and move to the Philippines. That’s the same for going to any country. Why is this? A lot don’t have the money or finances. Some are already caught in the usual married/kids life. A lot frankly don’t have the balls. But the interest of men looking to move to countries such as the Philippines is definitely high judging by the explosion of the Philippine UA-cam community over the last decade. A lot of men are in the USA and are miserable and lonely and are doing no dating or dating the few fat women that are available. That’s their choice. But it’s also choice for a man to choose a new path and go where the water is warmer.
Dumaguete is okay if you are a retired person. Traffic not so heavy and AIRPORT & SEAPORT is just near the corner..
Now if you have to work to earn CEBU I’d a good choice.. 😮
yeah any girl who approaches you in Asia, run far away unless you're out for a quickie.
Never think of a day as a failure. Just a learning experience. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. My saying that I live by; If I wake, it's going to be a great day and everything else is trivial. Thanks again Paul for a great video. Stay safe and keep enjoying life
The new school in my town in the US has to put a sand box in the bathroom to accommodate for a certain identity group of students. Or the school could loose government funding. Maybe some political demographic groups think thats nomal. Im "old school," "old dog".., SO, Im doing my second scouting trip to Iloilo in a few days. And I am doing exactly that, staying at the Park inn just steps from a huge newer mall. I plan to make several acclamation trips within the next 4 years. I dont know what to tell you has and is happening in and too America. Being a bible based person and I prefer to be with humble, kind, like minded people! Here I come Philippines!🎉❤
I have lived in Iloilo for about a year. I enjoy it here. Has it's good and bad like all cities here. but overall no complaints.
Don't believe the stories about the "furries" it was meant to troll the right wing news channels. It's a joke that went viral! I can't believe people are still believing that!😂😂
My wife and I take our grandkids out to lunch every so often. Our grand-daughter had mentioned during lunch a couple of months ago, they now have a kitty litter box in the bathrooms at school. We were completely blown away. It’s for the kids that identify as a cat. One of the girls she knows identifies as a star. Not as a rockstar or movie star, but as a star in the sky. No kidding. WTF is happening here?
And people wonder why there are some people who want to relocate to a place with more sensible values. DUH.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE HERE:
I love freedom, so take this with a grain of salt. But our freedoms are so broad in America that some people have lost self control or the ability to be civil. So they go to a conservative country that has fewer freedoms and they flourish.
- They can't be obsessed with buying guns and more guns anymore.
- Unless they want to be arrested, they can't get into verbal disputes with other drivers, their neighbors or people at the store.
- They literally aren't wearing their beliefs on their sleeves, hats or T-shirts anymore.
- They aren't wearing American flag underwear anymore.
- They aren't going to rallies or protest marches.
- They're not saying provocative or insensitive things to people they don't know (called walking on eggshells in America.)
So now what is there to do? They're just leading their best lives as one should in their golden years in a land where their fixed income can go along way and love and friendship is abundant.
Great interview. I’m really on the fence about retirement in another country outside the US. I agree with allot of what I heard about how the US is changing and not for the better. But even if that wasn’t the case it’s more about the financial situation. I could afford to stay in the US but I would really have to live minimally. But minimally here in the US is much lower standard than minimal in the Philippines. I live in California and the cost of living is crazy high. I’ve owned homes in California and had my own business. I’ve always made good money. Now in my 60’s I look forward and I don’t see that bright retirement that I envisioned when I was younger. I’ve traveled the world but never the Philippines. These videos are enlightening and give me hope that it is possible to turn the clock back and start fresh in a place that has promise of a less stressful and happier life than what I’m experiencing now. So again thanks Paul and Chris.
I have enough pension in Germany, I can do without Asia. Why live in the Philippines? just because it's warm. That's not a reason for me.
Women in Philippines should be careful of Expats much like Expats has to be carful of Filipinas.
If you're in 30-40s cebu city is it. You can spring board all over the Philippines and you're surrounded by 1 night stands

So... why DID he decide to leave Cebu for Dumagete? Did I miss that explanation?
I don’t know about Cebu but I did like Dumaguete. I intend to return to the Philippines this winter and will spend a month in Dumaguete plus a few weeks in Manila. I enjoyed the people in Dumaguete as I walked with my lady friend meeting people
I would love to meet you at some point since I like your videos
Marty
Dumaguete is a nice city to connect for a small city however Cebu city has all the amenities and more women to choose. so, I would say Cebu city is the best choice for women but many women everywhere in the Philippines for expats.
why do you keep sayin $3000? i pay morgage and live in nashville. tn. and I clear $3000 here?
I will living there to try it at the end of year, but I will say I moved from Virginia to Jacksonville, Florida 4 months ago, and while not perfect, its a much better vibe than Virginia. So there are better places to be in the USA, but you do need money, and dating is still not great compared to Colombia and the Philippines.
Many new arrivals will gravitate towards the amenities they are accustomed to which is in these more modern cities. Unfortunately they tend to be pricey and are at a detriment to the reason why you came in the first place. They end up being staging areas for the savy expat and they progress as soon as they can to a more affordable area. Putting down roots in a place where you can't afford to be is a recipe for disaster. Doing recon missions before you ever pull the trigger on going over is mandatory and not doing so again is a recipe for disaster. If you have a woman you're talking to then go meet her and her family to get a feel for the legitimacy of the situation and travel with her on your recon missions and get her input as well as your own feel for the place. If you choose to stay with this person then you will be traveling with her and living with her so if the shoe fits then roll with it .she is your leason to the country and can save you buckets of money if she is a real Filipina because they know how to pinch pesos. Definitely get out of the big cities and get into a suburb or even a province if your needs permit. Remember many of us are retirement age and this is the final quarter of the game so be happy and enjoy every day.
Places like Cebu City, Davao, Manila have become flooded with Westerners. Prices have gone up sharply in just the past 2 years and there's no end in sight. Guys who are looking for a 'traditional Filipina' are finding themselves in increasing competition with other foreigners. The girls are taking advantage of that situation and have learned how to take a gullible foreigner to the cleaners. On top of that, finding a "real girl" is becoming more difficult as the number of ladyboys is increasing rapidly.
@@garyzies3486j-Some sweet talkin' momma with a face like a gent...I say my get up & go must have got up & went...
@garyzies3486 the bacla are looking for security just like the woman are and let's face it if there wasn't a demand for them then they wouldn't be there . Most if not all are up front and they don't profess to to being actual woman like the screwballs from the west. You can meet nice women but you need to travel around and talk to the ladies working in these little stores and shops as they either know a girl or are looking themselves for someone to date . We are not looking for girls with any particular financial background just loyal, faithful with traditional values that are single.
People here grew up on various islands speaking various languages and traded with each other for centuries. Magellan arrived with an attitude and that was put in check Pronto. That's why the Philippines is so welcoming if you show respect.
*that restaurant is so beautiful*
just asking, what's the name of the resto?
To expensive everywhere. Better medical and jobs/homes etc😊
Scouting trips...sage advice! Low risk and you dont have to sell everything until you are confident the Philippines are where you want to be.
Excellent interview Paul. I 100% agree about soft landing. Manila is nice to visit about 24 hours and move on quickly.
Cebu City offers many Western Style Restaurants that help with assimilation.
Nothing wrong with a soft landing, especially for guys like me that don't get to travel much. It could make the difference between staying.. and leaving in frustration.
Chris touched on a couple of reasons Americans like us are leaving the states as we see such division driving people apart away from our core values. Once we get a taste of the Philippines some of us see we can live there and thrive like we did in the states with less encumbrances. Less stress and more just enjoying life on a day to day basis with no rush. I do believe making friends More with Filipinos of all sorts immerses you more into understanding the culture and attitudes verses staying in a cocoon surrounded by expats. But some need that where some of us are more independent and strive to be on our own but still have a select few good ones around us. Like I met Derek of Q adventures as he has been a great person on many levels; so to me it is in being selective.
I disagree
There are less and less foreigners going to the Philippines!
And the ones who do come have many many issues in there life!
Then they meet a younger girl 25 -30 yrs younger and want to return too good ole USA and try to take there gf or wife back!
Good Luck there guys,,, I’ve been going to the Philippines for last 20 yrs,,,, But only for 30 vacation stay
Then I’m so happy to be back in my own country of USA!
@@donaldrump4037 the PI is a beautiful country and a nice place to visit for a month or less, but i could never live there permanently because of the chaos, noise, crime, con artists, etc.
@@donaldrump4037 IMO you are not describing problems with the Philippines, rather expats that don't have their lives in order. Granted the Phils aren't for everybody (I would perhaps even argue it's not for most) however that doesn't mean there aren't expats who can thrive there.
I have been in Cebu 5 years most guys come here for 2 things girls and cost of living but in reality there are so many places to live in other countries with far better infrastructure. that are sanitary and safe . My filipino wife & I are moving to Puerto Vallarta Mexico for its great culture, spectacular beaches , friendly locals, great dining and 2.5 hrs by airplane to the US.
Very interesting !!!! You should make some videos about life in Puerto Vallarta - I’d love to watch. Best Wishes to you both !!! Mabuhay !!!!
I should have waited before I posted the last time because if you are moving to the Philippines and ur needing $40,000 a year to live there ur living like a king ok if that is what you want. I know several people there that love it living on a Canadian pension of $1800 a month and want for nothing. Have a home a car go where they want to and have many friends. It's a big difference in living and enjoying when you put money on the top of that and most Americans were groomed and made to believe they need to have that much to be happy and survive, all I can say come down to earth and live like humble people. Most Americans have a big problem with being humble. FACT
They have 700 MILLION guns in private hands USA for freedom JEEÈEEEZ and peace by USA and voted a PUSSYGRABBER as a PRESIDENT.
