    Billy! I have a question regarding 아닌가. I can never fully understand it, most of the time, and only in some context does it make sense to me. I'll give you examples that doesn't make sense to me, that came from my reading book. "저 멀리 날아가는 것이 아닌가" Is the main character saying that "thing" is flying far away (as a guess and they know it is true)?
    Another is: "도둑이 경찰을 피해 죽음의 미로로 숨어든 게 아닌가 싶어" Is this supposing that the robber did hide in the maze (as a guess and they know it is true)?
    Most of the time when it does appear, there's no question marks after 아닌가 and they only end with a period, so that confuses me. Cause I know "ㄴ가" is usually as a question.

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  5 років тому +3

      My book series explains it (3rd book I think), but I haven't made a video about it yet. Maybe I can make a video about that topic in the future :)

  • @jakelefkowitz4570
    @jakelefkowitz4570 Рік тому

    I thought the future tense was 을 건가 보다. Do people not use that? Also, on the TTMIK website, it emphasizes that 으려나 보다 is only for people/animate objects. Your example sentence talked about the weather so I’m confused! TTMIK also says this form can not be used with adjectives but only adjectives plus 지디 such as 에뻐지려나 봐요

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  Рік тому

      ~건가 would be ~것인가 (shortened to 건가) + 보다, as shown in this video.

    • @jakelefkowitz4570

    • @GoBillyKorean
      @GoBillyKorean  4 роки тому +1

      That's just a verb 지다. You can find all of those verbs in a dictionary and those happen to end with a verb 지다.

    So 가/나 보다 can be used based on what you see, experience etc and you say "I guess/it seems"
    but 같아요 can be used if you have a hunch or you didn't experience firsthand and when expressing an opinion. Right?

    It says:

    I thought ‘와’ is pronounced like “wa” but you say “아” ~나 봐요
    (Also you say ㅂ like ㅍ but this is something I hear many Koreans do)

    • @nati4218
      @nati4218 2 роки тому

      The 오 is pronounced really fast, that's why.
      And is not that ㅂ is pronounced like ㅍ is just that is commonly thought that ㅂ is exactly like b and ㅍ exactly like p but it's doesn't work like that, they sound like those letters but they're different, ㅍ is a very strong (aspirted) letter, the same way that letter is pronounced if it's done leas strongly is a ㅂ. So basicaly ㅂ can sound both b and p to us and ㅍ just like a p. I really recommend you to look at pronunciation videos and practice a lot, good luck!

      From what I've read, when you use 은/ㄴ가 보다/나 보다, the speaker has a direct reason as to why she feels that way, while 것 같아 is based on intuition and there isn't really any implied concrete reason. Please correct me if I am wrong, Billy.
