Who won the bet, you or Mark? I’ve never been on a mountain but I turned the volume up, sat on the edge of my chair, shut my eyes and I believe I could hear, feel and smell that hunt like I was there! Excellent story! Thanks so much for sharing Steve.
I’m 40years old and one of my favorite things is sitting around deer camp listening to my dad and uncle retell the same hunting stories over and over and over again. But Steve is One of the Greatest Story Tellers EVER!
Your Hunter is a little bit of a superhero too! Split open head and he just went right back out.... Great story!!! I'm sure he's told that one by the fireplace at his home more than once!!
Awesome story Steve, well done ! It makes you feel great when a plan comes together. I get as much of a charge when I watch a friend or family member connect on an animal after they’ve listened to me and it unfolds just like I predicted. It’s a great feeling to prove you know what you’re talking about. Right on, you’re the man.
My sons first time being apart of a successful elk hunt in the rough country of North idaho was like that and I'm thankful. Ten years old with a pack on , 9 days just over 100 miles , blisters, everything and every hike was miserable and in eventful and on the morning of the last day we call one in to 7 yards. Very emotional .
I watched your video with that 13yr old kid taking a stone sheep. I would have ZERO DOUBT in my mind if I just shut up and did everything you told me I'd come home having had an adventure others only dream of and a trophy rack mounted behind me to back up my tale every time I told it! Another great story from the archives. Thanx👍🏻
I like to listen to your stories as I wind down at night to go to bed so I can dream and relive hunts ive had or dream about future hunts that may, or may not, happen. Thanks so much for posting
Thank you for embracing the suck so faithfully! My freedom is precious and not taken for granted...ALL the time. Your service will never be unappreciated, just underappreciated. Merry Christmas!
Got to admit I never heard that one. But I'll damn sure never forget it. Whenever I'm in a s*** situation with somebody that will be my quote. Thanks for your service bro God bless. Embrace the suck bro! Now let's get it done!
I simply love your storytelling! We are sooo lucky to hear them and you're one of the best views on UA-cam...TV is crap. How can we not love you... You are a fascinating and wonderful human being. Also, someone who has integrity honesty and depth. The perfect man...Like my own husband!! THANK YOU!!!
Oh my goodness I love your stories!! Keep them coming!!!! I would've loved hunting with you guys!!! Never minded getting dirty or roughing it. Cuts and scrapes no problem. Blood and guts?? No problem. I'm a retired nurse. In my 70s and disabled now. I can have my adventures through you!!! Ty
Ty, hi I am writing in response to your comment. I too am a retired nurse 10 years and nurse anesthetist for 30, have five sons, and widowed almost five years. I love Steve's stories about anything. This is the first time listening to just his hun ting guide stories. Makes retirement fun. I only fished as a sport never shot anything.
For future reference, if it’s someone who has long hair that splits their head open just, after cleaning out the wound, cross the hair across the wound and tie the hair shut. Like lacing down grommets! Works like a charm!
Yep, did this on a few kids. I am a nurse and a Navy Vet Corpsman. Works wonderfully and the scab keeps it secure as well. By the time it flakes off, the wound is barely visible.
Wahoo! This story could have been a movie. So very few people get to discover their true limits and your story is point on. Alaska and it's people are great and have to put up with the flatlanders that are not expecting this wonderful experience. Thank you, keep it up!
He's healthier than people half his age, he'd have to have dementia or other degenerative illness, God forbid, but yeah he can tell a great story. Super hunter that he is ...
Retirement homes are for city dopes. Even the basic idea of a retirement home is only something complete mush brain dopes in citys could come up with, in the real world retirement home is such an absurd and foreign concept.
Damn that 43 minutes went by fast. This was a great story Steve and I’m liking the editing where you show a clip of the area you were in. It really helps me visualize the scene. Keep it up dude!
Nice one STEVE. It’s great to get a glimpse of the world through a professional guides eyes and experiences. I really enjoy hearing the challenges you have to overcome. It sounds like the actual game animals aren’t always the biggest hurdles ??!! Thanks 👍🏻
You should definitely suggest Steve change his UA-cam name to Canadian Hunter Psychic Guide Ram Whisperer Who Sees Through Mountains (dropped the "crazy" because it might deter some people). Just excellent!
Thx for sharing your adventures with us all Steve! I always look forward to watching them when they come out as they’re my favorite from very few. Gotta admit I always hope there’s a Sasquatch story in there. Because that subject has reminded me of all the lone hikes I’ve done around the USA and now a revision of what I interpreted I was seeing and hearing as Sasquatch wasn’t on my radar then. Thank you again and all my best to you from Ohio!! 🙏🏻☀️🦶🤗🐾
You probably will not see this comment but i just stumbled across ur channel day b4 ystrday Feb 15th 2021 - kno idea why i put date on it - but i have to say i have been around a lot of hunters and sat around a lot of fires and i could listen to your stories all night long - i love the no BS approach and its nice to see a serious outdoors person willing to talk about the things that actually scare them in the woods - like it or not most outdoors people have a hard time ever admitting fear and even harder time talking about things they kno they saw but do not want to be labeled crazy by their buddies - but your hunting stories are great and you have a gift for telling them - thank you for taling the time to tell all of us
I’m am a psychotherapist by occupation. Never would I imagine that I would appreciate a hunting channel, but I do! Your way has shown me the integrity, expertise and sensitivity to be a hunter of your quality. I would love to pay just to go along watch and experience the whole thing. 😊
I loved this story! You made that man's "life", not just his "day"!! What a wonderful feeling it must have been to see that gigantic ram walking out of the willow! I can see why the hunter was completely in disbelief, and thought you were the "Guide God"!! No need to tell him it was your experience and knowledge that told you the "invisible" ram was exactly in that spot! You're a Super-Hero, Steve!! Accept all the accolades graciously!! Lol! What a hunt! 👏👏👏
Excellent hunting story. What I like best about reminiscing about the hunt, it’s not the shot and results. While that completes the story what makes the memory more cherished is all the parts of the hunt. Steve really tells the story the way I like to hear them and the way they are told in my hunting circles.
Great story! You’re accent had me cracking up though. It’s a little more Middle East than Spanish. That added a little comedy to a well told story. Keep those stories coming.. Nice Job
I was right there with you guys. Love the way you tell your stories. And i also admire your no nonsense way of handling certain situations and go with your gut. The gut never lies like the heart and brain. Keep em coming. I love going on these hunts with you. You are awesome!
And 1more thing. In case you have to deal with another head wound, if the persons hair is long enough and this guys was, you don't have to shave the wound. The hair can help in closing up the wound by lacing/weaving and tying it back together. Til you can get to civilization.
I've got to say I couldnt pause this story and get back to it nor could I stop part way thru it and not finish listening. You had my complete 100% attention to every word every detail right from the start to where I closed my eyes for the brief seconds it takes to shake your hand. I was on a hunt with my hunting partner and were on the western slope along the boundary of Cathedral Lakes Park, no need to explain exactly as Im sure you know where roughly we were. Well if your hunting episode didnt bring out the almost same scenario as did ours its an absolute coincidence. It was after the days hunt and we were just hanging out in camp around the fire having a drink or two. I was finishing up cleaning the dishes and tidying the camp up for the evening when my friend, may he R.I.P, was leaning back on what we after nicknamed "the killer lawnchair". He was in one of those reclining lawnchairs with the ratchet style hinges that were quite comfortable packed and folded ok for fitting into the back of the box and canopy with all the crap the two of would take in a Toyota 4X4 extra cab pick-up. He found out that ya these chairs are comfy but when your messing around with the reclining action at night a few drinks and not seriously paying attention on your hand placement while doing so, just isn't good hunter thinking. Turns out these lawnchairs have a much stronger bite than their bark. Long story short, similiar situation he cut his hand quite deep and when I looked at it as did he, we came to the conclusion was definitely a trip out to hospital but good luck when we pull into somewhere within a reasonable hour beyond 3 am and no way of having him being remotely sober or myself putting up with any whining all that driving to town. No f'n way its gonna happen. So here we go.... I told him to grab his Whiskey he was drinking, take a huge swig or whatever he wanted just save a wee bit for whats coming next. He had no clue, I think. Anyways I took a small amount of whiskey and poured it over the wound to get it as clean as possible, took a fairly good size branch of wood gave it to him and said bite down on this and look over that way.... towards the river. He did and then I doctored up his cut which definitely needed to be stitched, using tippet leaders I had with my fishing gear. I and Im sure my friend were grateful I was a fly fisherman, because i had to put at least 8 stitches in his hand with mono filament fly fishing leader. It was easily done no complaints from him and he didnt bleed all over camp attracting any unwanted animals. Sure he was in pain the next day but after the gunshot rang out about 40 m up the steep steep road from where we camped and woke him up, only to come waltzing up slowly with his rifle to see me standing over top of a massive 4 point muley filling out my tag with this huge smile on my face and a beer in one hand my hunting license in the other then looking at him and saying, " I hope you brought your knife, I shot it your cleaning it". Kidding of course but ya we have something in common about a hunt that could have been cut short. Though we werent with a guide but we had hunted for many many years together and we had some darn good success when it seems like its gonna end with no animal or worse... "cut short".
Awesome story, i could see the "pie plate" in my minds eye..... love it from Texas ... "Steve, i'm not gonna get my Ram & Billy" love it! He will be telling that story for generations to enjoy! ty for sharing
Excellent story , my Grandfather and Father used to hunt BC back in the late 60's and the storys they could tell. We sat around many camp fire listening to these storys for years. Miss Ya Dad
Could listen to your stories all day...who cares about the accent thing...the stories are so interesting and fun! Love the "I don't do stupid" as my attitude is the same. Seems to happen in old age! At least for me. I live in Alaska born and raised! I have relatives in Dawson Creek, BC. who have been there a generation or two.. My cousin, Billy Eckert recently passed away and was a hunter and had a nice horse ranch... The stories fly around our families, especially cousins...a fun bunch to get together with because off the stories! Listen to some of these stories (experiences) whilst sitting at my fire pit! Makes my evening complete!
Nothing like a rainy Sunday morning listening to Steve telling an awesome story. " Steve i must get my ram. I'm never going to get a ram ". Lol you got me laughing. Thanks Steve. Much luv from long island N.Y. 💋
I listened to this twice. Last year and today. Listening today just as satisfying and exciting as the first time. Great story. The guy goes home and then recounts stalking the beast whilst bleeding from a head wound. 💚
41:41 Fantastic advice and a very well placed motif to round up your lessons, after this hunt. Thank you for the reminder to go, get out there, and take advantage of life’s precious moments. You are quite inspiring, good sir. You make me envious with your symbiosis to wild life and your understanding of nature and specifically the unforgiving, Rocky Mountains. I’ve been drawn to your videos after having some terrifying experiences in the depths of the Rocky Mountains, in the states but I find myself watching your all your videos, regardless of the topic, because you are such an incredible storyteller. Thank you brother, for doing what you do!
Really cool story! Had me on the edge all the way thru, and the best way to end a story is getting what you came for. Thanks for the story time, I really enjoyed it! 🤠😄🤠
You know Steve I really enjoy and find the Sasquatch encounters tales both fascinating and scary . Your telling of your personal guide tale was exciting riveting. . I would buy the auto books of your guiding adventures .
Hey brother, great story! It's sad but there are few real men left in this world anymore. Hell, kids can't ride bikes without pads and helmets like they're going to play football. You're right, that was the right call! I love all your videos, I came to your channel because I saw the Bigfoot stuff and have seen some crazy things in the woods that I can't explain. I've never outright seen one but Ive seen trees shake like crazy and there's no way it was a buck, but at the time I passed it off as that as I had no better explanation. Anyhow, then I saw your hunting stories, and watch em all the time! Keep up the good work buddy! Hey BTW, that's one hell of an Indian/Mexican accent! LMAO
@@bryanbulmer6716 So you quote scripture and troll people just to be a smart ass? So to answer your question...Im obviously more of a man than you as I'm not confused about who I am. Your obviously a confused little boy...probably well intentioned most of the time, but then still childish enough to get online and be a dick to a complete stranger for no reason. I have no time for your type Bryan.
This is like my favorite hunting story ever! But your Bigfoot stories are pretty cool too! Whatever you have to talk about you're always full of good sensible information. Keep them coming!
Steve You really are a fabulous guide with eyes like a hawk! And not a bad story teller to boot...you must have a lot of air in ur Astro chart...my S.O. does and he can talk a leg off of a table...and then some🤪
I love your channel! If I were a hunter, you would be my guide. I got interested in your channel when a friend showed me one of your clips with a Sasquatch story. This topic has always intrigued me as I don't find it hard to believe that such a being exists. I spend lots of time hiking and exploring in the woods just south of you in Bellingham, WA. Perhaps someday I''ll get to be an eye-witness. I don't think I would get traumatized like the other folks... I'd get my camera out!
@@plagedh3 ya those hunts are hugely expensive. Two tags for a non-resident hunter, the travel fees, the fees for the guide, the cost of camp supplies for a 10 to 14 day hunt, tips/gratuities. These are some hard ass trips they book that and it's not a place for pussies. You are paying for their expertise and knowledge and you know Steve knows his shit. If this guy pd 50k for this hunt coming from Mexico he's not a poor sob he has money to burn.
I've listened to 90% of 'em & I think this is one of your best stories yet Steve. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking the time to share all your killer F'n stories with the millions of us less fortunate mofos that can't get out there & do the gnarly ass shit that you do. You rule Brother!!
What A GREAT hunting stort of haninging in there, knowing when to go with your gut (always) and it paying off. I have no doubt that man bieves you're a magician of a scout! Bit how could he still be doubtful after that hunt!? WTH! Not many people can I sit and watch and listen to them speak fot almost 45 minutes and never stop or move on! But you Sir I listen to every last word! Love your videos, thanks for sharing your experiences and memories with us!
Steve if I ever get to meet you I’m gonna give you some sutures to throw in your first aid kit and I will show you how to do them well. I’m a nursing supervisor now but I was a combat medic for 10 years and emergency first aid is what I’m the best at.
Steve freaking Hilarious! Lived In the Sierra Mountains for a decade, your story was a total mixed flashback on some of the foreigners I’ve met on pack trips! Thank You!
And you mentioned that you had completely forgotten about this hunt?? Steve, that just tells me that you have had some AWESOME experiences to make THIS one pale in comparison. Big props to you, man. You're living the life that guys like me can only dream about. I've watched ALL of your videos and THIS ONE makes me want to sell everything I own and finance a nice two week foray into the mountains on a hunting trip with you. Too bad I'm so goddamn old now! PLEASE keep doing what you do, both in the great outdoors and on UA-cam, because your videos are the next best thing to being there, in my opinion. Thanks for being you. You fucking rock!!
When I was guiding, we wanted to be where we planed to hunt at daylight. That meant getting up at 3-4am, riding several hours in the dark. Hunting all day, and riding home in the dark. Day after day.....it's not an easy job, but you are hunting horseback in the mountains....what's better than that? They do give up easy. I think hunting shows on TV are to blame for that. It looks easy on TV because they only show the best parts of the hunt. The other thing that made it tough, is that we were hunting at about 8,000-9,000 feet elevation and a lot of hunters came from sea level. It causes them to get dizzy and stumble or fall a lot. I've had hunters flip over a horse like that! None of mine got hurt like that though! We were hunting elk. I have never had a chance to hunt sheep. I would sure like to though!
Your the best!!! not many people understand what you guys do. They only see what's on the tube and take it as religion. Its great it got YOUR attention take care and keep your feet dry
So freaking cool Steve. I absolutely love these stories, it's almost like I'm right there with you, the way you tell them. Man ty ty. Can't wait for the next.

I am binge watching Steve vids. This guy is for real.
The Mexican got a hunter's tatoo, plus a huge ram. You're probably a legend in Mexico city, Steve.
The tattoo is Steve's photo with ram horns coming out of his head and below it said Ram Whisperer!
Every time that mexican hunter looks at his mount he probably sees it, hears it, smells it and then reaches up and feels the scar then smiles.
No matter the topic you bring it full bore-thank you for that! Happy Trails & God Bless Steve!
Love your stories and approach to life. A great Canadian.

I can't count how many times I have glued myself together and kept on going!
Awesome story, i could see the "pie plate" in my minds eye..... love it from Texas ... "Steve, i'm not gonna get my Ram & Billy" love it! He will be telling that story for generations to enjoy! ty for sharing
Thanks for another great story, Steve. Good luck this year. I'm headed to Montana next month for a 9 day hunt in the Bob! Can't wait!
Excellent story , my Grandfather and Father used to hunt BC back in the late 60's and the storys they could tell. We sat around many camp fire listening to these storys for years. Miss Ya Dad
Great story. Sometimes those obstacles overcome are the most memorable part of the hunt.
You are a great story teller & I completely enjoy listening to you.
You were a scout master to your hunter. Very good nature behavior.
🤜🏼Steve I love ya brother, your excitement about hunting and your story telling is fantastic🤛🏼
If or when I ever get the chance for a guided hunt I believe you would be the guide I would trust to get what I'm after.
I listened to this twice. Last year and today. Listening today just as satisfying and exciting as the first time. Great story.
The guy goes home and then recounts stalking the beast whilst bleeding from a head wound. 💚
This was a real treat! Primo hunt story Steve!🐏
He's very good at wat he does .......about time someone tells it like it is rte...
This is my favorite story of yours so far. Great job Sir! Great story teller!
Love listening to these before bed. Love the stories. Can't wait for the podcast.
Man I absolutely love listening to your stories.keep them coming! I damn sure need to start saving some money to come up there on a hunt!
I wanna go!!
Dude, I love this story. I have to come back to listen again about every 4 months because it ROCKS.
GREAT Indian accent!
LMAO
Awe and you must be a real one? Lol. A legend in your own mind
Suck it up!
Absolutely!!
A quality that is in rare supply now a days. Keep it alive...
Catching up on your earlier videos. This is the best one so far. I love your attitude and the way you work with your hunters. Great Work Steve!
Steve
You really are a fabulous guide with eyes like a hawk! And not a bad story teller to boot...you must have a lot of air in ur Astro chart...my S.O. does and he can talk a leg off of a table...and then some🤪
I love all of your stories but this one is the best so far!
Dude I love hearing these story's.. sitting at my desk at work .. wish I can go hunting with you man !!
Fantastic story Steve. Loved every minute! “Oh no, I’m not gonna get my ram”! lmao
Great story and your mexican accent was a rare treat, I had a mental picture of you out in the sticks hunting with the count from sesame street 😂
That was such a fantastic change!!! Thought I was going to be hearing a bigfoot story and I hear a hunting adventure!!! That was so great!!!
You are a wonderful story teller. I felt like I was there. I could see it all.
7:39. "Here comes the guide with the headlamp past me doing figure 8's...'
Laughed my head off! HAHAHAHA!!!!
I'm SHOCKED he didn't break open a can of whoopass on that guy 🍺😎
Season starts here in a short while and I am now JACKED UP!!!! Thank you!! Stay safe and keep on keepin' on!!
The hunter probably tells all his buddies you have magical powers lol. Great story! I’m sure he replays that hunt on a daily bases.
“Buck up and muddle through “ that’s a great attitude. Thanks for a great story
Anyone else keep scanning the scenery behind Steve for anything to pop up??
It costs 50 thousands for a ram hunt
@Mountain Man same here. Always looking for a Bigfoot in the trees
no need, its just green-screen according to many people. haha
Always lol ...
Another amazing story! Steve, to your hunter clients, you are more than a guide--you are a god!
Steve if I ever get to meet you I’m gonna give you some sutures to throw in your first aid kit and I will show you how to do them well. I’m a nursing supervisor now but I was a combat medic for 10 years and emergency first aid is what I’m the best at.
Sean Fries those are great to have in your kit, and _really_ fun when you have to use them on yourself.....at least I had them though.
Steve freaking Hilarious!
Lived In the Sierra Mountains for a decade, your story was a total mixed flashback on some of the foreigners I’ve met on pack trips!
Thank You!
I love when it's barfing rain or barfing snow or barfing blood out of his head!
or pukin snow
..and its all stupid. 😄
Such a fabulous story ‼️ohhhhh... Myyyy ❣️thank you Steve, you keep me smiling ‼️ God bless you and yours ❣️
"You can't tap out!"
Lol, sounds beautiful, For your opponent!
Love your wit!
Perfect hunt ending Great story and good call. I felt like I was there!! Thx Steve
Loved the story and very well told. Enjoy all your hunt and Sasquatch stories.
Wow you guys rock!
@@kennethhacker1341 Thank you!
Your the best!!! not many people understand what you guys do. They only see what's on the tube and take it as religion. Its great it got YOUR attention take care and keep your feet dry
@@molly6483 Thank you Molly.
You are the guide of guides! All hail Steve! LOL Love your stories!
Oh hell yeah he relives that hunt every time he sees the mount hell I would dream about it for year's awesome story!
So freaking cool Steve. I absolutely love these stories, it's almost like I'm right there with you, the way you tell them. Man ty ty. Can't wait for the next.
Tries to imitate Mexican accent: Middle Eastern accent ensues 🤣
LMAO lol 😆
What a fantastic hunt...great story! What a great blessing for that man to have a hunt like that!
