Well like many players have said, Larry Bird talked trash but he could back it up . And Bird was the killer .
In Larry’s book, you do the work, you’re bound to see results. And for Larry, doing the work is everything.
Dennis Johnson my favourite player of all time
Larry is cool dude and a straight shooter. Love both these cats
Dennis Johnson "DJ", was a veteran player when he joined the Celtics. I don't recall the details but there were concerns how his history would fit into Boston. Larry Bird was asked about that and gave a typical great Bird answer, not rushing to assumptions and really giving Dennis a chance to prove his fit. And that he really did. Bird/Johnson were a great combo and thought alike. I think you will enjoy learning about him and his Bird relationship. He scored the point on Birds steal to flip the game. If you see that highlight beyond the score, I love how DJ with both hands' motions Bird to him and they man hug. No high five on that play between them. It was deeper. They had an incredible connection.
I heard Larry called DJ the best player he ever played with.
Which is saying alot considering the lineup of the 80s Celtics.
@@F1rstWorldNomaD Yes he did, and I agree with you, that is saying a lot.

I watched that game in that play a dozen times . After the game is over Larry Bird and DJ or just about to go into the tunnel and I cannot believe this isn't the major point of that play and the unbelievable amount of respect that Isaiah Thomas showed. Both teams going off together Isaiah Thomas which was shorter than bird reaches up from behind and does a how did you do that type moment. It is a must see to understand what I'm talking about you'll have to look for it but it's well worth it there is no color in humanity. There are no racist in a foxhole. And anytime athlete meets another athlete there's mutual respect ! A quietness that only two competitors can feel. The reason why I'm saying this it is a must see to believe
Dennis Johnson is DJ the point guard on the Celtics during the championship years.
If nobody has told you before, there is an HBO documentary called ‘Bird and Magic: A Courtship of Rivals’. It’s a beautiful thing. I think you might be able to watch it in parts on YT. Dennis Johnson - #3 on the Celtics. If you remember the play where Pistons only had to pass the ball in to win and Larry stole it. The guy who he passed it to and made the basket…that was DJ.
8:05 Dennis Johnson was my mom's favorite player. She watched those NBA tape delay games on CBS. DJ won the Championship with the Seattle Supersonics.
Btw, did you see the smile come over Larry's face when Magic mentioned Kobe?
These 2 basketball players, are my all time favorite, to watch, to compete, and to enjoy their rivalry & ultimate friendship......2 great players, that played hard, but also knew it was a game, and respected each other, and could have fun!!!
He was coach and then GM of the Pacers here
Imagine today if a college basketball player, took a mid major to an undefeated season and led them through the NCAA tournament and to the Finals!!! Think in todays age how much that player would be hyped up and talked about.. Larry Bird did that!
Malice at the Palace is the term for it. As a Pacers fan, it destroyed the team for almost a decade.
Bird 🙂 All day, everyday.
Thanks for the reaction to this interview. Looking forward to more.
Larry Bird was from a very small town called French Lick Indiana, and after he retired he coached the Indiana Pacers but they werent that good at first and they had to rebuild the team as he discusses
He is talking about the fight between Pacers and Detroit Pistons. If you haven’t reacted to that you should!
Malice at the Palace! Yes, look it up.
Dennis Johnson....Number 3...Point Guard
You’re 100% right. It’s a great comparison talking about being a great player, and then being an absolute killer. Kobe= killer, MJ= killer, Bird= straight up assassin
Magic is the goat. Greatest Interviewer of All Time. Just kidding...Magic is a great human being. He was the leader of the Lakers throughout the 80's.and also had a great skillset. Larry Bird was unique, he took every bit of his talent and perfected it. Larry had an arsenal of weapons to throw at you and opponents could never say this is what he's going to do. Unless Larry told them.
Magic is A goat.
Magic, Larry and Jordan are the three greatest ballers of all time.
In my book theyre sharing the no1 spot cuz I cant pick one.
Larry better than magic. Magic always had better team. I rather see bird play. Bird can do it all. Magic only can pass made his team better. Bird did the same. Bird scored rebound and assist 24/10/6
Larry dubbed himself the hick from French lick. He came from French lick Indiana real small town like 2800 people population
Great vid! thanks, enjoying all the magic/bird stuff. Grew up w them but a lot of this is new 'cause we didnt have internet when it was playing out! so many thanks! enjoyed the vid and had some chuckles!
Lebron was not even close to magic. He also had that killer instinct. There’s a reason they have a rivalry. They’re extremely similar

I think its more the fact that theyre not playing anymore.
They can relax a bit and be objective.
One of the most extreme examples of this is Isiah Thomas.
I fakking HATED that guy when he was playing but since he retired hes become very humble, likeable and, at least from the sound of it, honest.
They got into a huge fight with the pistons. That’s what bird is talking about when he says they embarrassed the franchise
Dj was the point guard on his championship teams
Except 81 , that was Tiny.
Larry Legend was Kobe top 3 player 🐐🐐
React to Larry bird greatest passer of all time re-edit
Basketball; one guy with the ball and his decisions to either score of pass. No matter which player in history, once that player has the ball, his decisions make him great or just one guy on one team. Bird, Magic, DR. J, Jordon, Bryant, James, Hamlichek, West, Russle, Chamberlin, and on and on.
Magic/Bird were the most likeable players ever to play. I'm like, after Wilt/Russell...they were dominant.
Larry coached the Pacers from 97 to 2000.
Kobe 🧡🧡🧡🧡
You are correct, Bird is THE GOAT & Magic is a close second
Bird baby !
DJ was Bird's point guard
You're correct. Legend Larry was a stone cold killer. How do you think MJ became such a great trash talker? Lol..... , but to piggy back off what you said..... Bird, MJ, and KB had that killer instinct, rip your heart put while their opponent is down..... Laboob, doesn't have that instinct, and never will.
Laboob - love it!🤣
Only thing I can think of that Larry may think embarrassed the pacers. The Malice in the Palace. I loved it though. Fans don't need to throw shit at players..
indiana state- french lick
Larry is from French Lick Indiana.
We definitely have a difference of opinion.... on who is the greatest of all time! LOL
Those rivalries in the 80s are what drove these guys to compete at a higher level! Now everybody's friends and they'll hang out after the game. They don't look at each other as being an opponent and someone to crush! To me it's ruined the game.... it's nowhere near as competitive as it used to be in my opinion and I don't even bother watching these days!
get a room you two (majiclarry)
His team mate DJ number 3
Vote for Mello
When Bird retired he became Pacers coach
Pacers never been to the playoffs. Bird took them to the playoffs.
Hey man, where's your beautiful wife/fiancée or girlfriend? Stay safe and God bless always, following from the Phillipines
Speaking of which, he/they oughta react to Queen...Bohemian Rhapsody and the '81 Live in Montreal version of Somebody to Love...if he's never heard Freddie....woah...in for a biiiig treat if they've never heard 'em
bryant is the greatest- in your opinion. not many others
Bird Jordan Kobe killer's
Magic Lebron not killer's
