First time I heard this I genuinely thought Rich was going Romantic with the only comedy being the cheese. I got a bit lost in the music and the lyrics were alright. When I heard "it's even got a holeeee!" I lost my shit. Amazing hearing a great bit of comedy for the first time. I come back here a lot and always laugh
The way he emphasises hole and changes the rhythm/scansion by a bar to get the punchline in close bejind whule the rhyme is clear and obvious....genius
Bloody excellent! It's a shame they didn't continue this gig, the songs are both hilarious and beautiful at the same time. Some kind of genius orchestrated all of this.
A gentleman may be someone who can play the banjo but doesn't, but a musician is someone who can play a banjo and make it sound good. Sincerely a banjo player
the two top comments really reflect the subject matter in the sense that yes this is gold and that yes after replaying the banjo comment 3 times I looked to the comments hoping for some1 to annotate that line to I could understand what the hell he actually said and well what do you know it was the top comment.
I remember seeing this years ago on Comedy Central and falling out laughing. I catch myself singing it sometimes and laughing all over. I am so glad you put it on here.
MAN I LOVE THIS SONG IT JUST CRACKS ME UP EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!! Because of this song and "Do anything you want" I'm buying the DVD Fer-Shore Fer-Shore (Can't tell I'm Canadian Eh?) lol
Way, way, WAY better than the God-awful Tom Waits. He may can write songs, but he can't sing worth a damn. Whoever thought it was a good idea to give him a recording contract is in bad need of a mental evaluation, or at least a hearing test. 🤢🤮
I just love way he says "The fuck is wrong with you?!"
An absolute crime he's not more popular
I only know Rich Hall from QI where he is hilarious.
@@superleipoman You also probably know him as Moe Szyslak. Not the voice, but the likeness.
"When I turn this way I'm done talking to you" is a sentence that I say to my brothers all the time.
The way the bass player plucks that l string at the end
Just so clever. This gig was brilliant. His timing and ad-libbing is the best in the business. So underrated
I agree - can't really understand how these performances have been neglected for so long. They are pure gold!

It’s so lovely. I want to hear a 10 minute version.

The buildup to the punchline by the guitar player was excellent.
I freaking love his wail of "sultry midnight soalhole..."
@@beatriceblake5201 What part of "midnight stroll" did you not understand? ;)
I died the first time I head this skit... "It's even got a ho-oohhoohoohh-le!" My fucking god!!!
"That's called being succinct." Love the vocabulary in Rich's show.
the man playing the guitar has a brilliant voice, i could listen to it all day
Who's here in 24😂
Yo yo
Yo yo yo!
I’m with ya bud
Saw this when I was younger and never understood why it was funny... Watching it now at 18, it cracks me up!

Was at the show, bought the DVD, and catching his next tour shortly. A great live act and documentarian to boot.
The Guitarists voice at 2:17 is awesome!
The music should never be the joke.
A gentleman may be someone who can play the banjo but doesn't, but a musician is someone who can play a banjo and make it sound good.
Sincerely
a banjo player
We need more of this guy
Absolute genius. Otis Lee thank you!
Seen this several times but it still cracks me up.

Pure genius! 😂”I kinda ran out of inspiration” 😁
Just love the way Rich looks at him after 2:28
Original, brilliant and hilarious.
Saw Rich Hall in Oxford uk this year absolutely brilliant.

Holy hell!! I KNEW it was Rich Hall! I only heard the audio of this and made a mental note to see who it was.
GENIUS!
PURE GENIUS!!!

This guy is so funny and i have only discovered him recently
fantastic work Rob :-)
Would be amazing to know who the banjo player is, he has an amazing voice.
This doesn't get old.
Currently the whole show is on the BBC iPlayer - go check it out.

I remember seeing this years ago on Comedy Central and falling out laughing. I catch myself singing it sometimes and laughing all over. I am so glad you put it on here.
I'm getting there.
LOL i love the reaction after 2:28
respect!...Pudge Brothers mash it up everytime! good luck Saints in Miami next Sunday!
Funny as fuck
His real name is Rob Childs, though I am not sure if he does anything other than what he does with Rich Hall.
He is an excellent country singer player and an old friend of mine
His name is David Lindsay.
"A banjo's like a woman, no one needs to hear it xD Thats the banjo guy.
I already found out myself but thanks anyway :).
well thank our jesus lord, Otis did not get out his mouth harmonica on this occasion
As opposed to what other kind of harmonica ? 😏
I heard there are Arsemoninca :s
@MrCokeaholic in case you hadnt realised this is actually a comedy show
Thanks for posting! Any chance you have the whole Comedy Central special from the early-mid 2000's?
@415mrozek I agree he was great, but I can't find any links to a videos or recordings with him :(
It's got a hole, fuck I'm in tears!
As a drummer I got inspired. The drums are like a women, big, loud, love to be tapped
I totally agree. I think Rich has a good voice too...a bit like Tom Waits.
2:25
MAN I LOVE THIS SONG IT JUST CRACKS ME UP EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!! Because of this song and "Do anything you want" I'm buying the DVD Fer-Shore Fer-Shore (Can't tell I'm Canadian Eh?) lol
gold
Where can i find more from the guitarist?!
Way, way, WAY better than the
God-awful Tom Waits.
He may can write songs,
but he can't sing worth a damn.
Whoever thought it was a good
idea to give him a recording
contract is in bad need of a
mental evaluation,
or at least a hearing test. 🤢🤮
What's the guitarist's name?
THE funniest song on the planet.😂😂
I agree 💯👍.
@merrimac291 The Apollo, London.
What did the banjo player say, I couldn't hear.
The banjo's like a woman. Nobody wants to hear it.
best set-up ever
@Starcat2002 pure bloody genius
the banjo player said "the banjo is like a woman, no body wants to hear it."
Well, that's ironic because I couldn't hear what he said. That's a really good joke though.
thanks for clearing that up
What the fuck is wrong with you
The guitarist looks like a Wallace and Gromit character
hey roshan your welcome my friend!
more like this please
thanks man
"It's got a fuckin hole" quite litterally
@mskillingstad His name is Myron T Buttram
I think I just wet myself!!!!
where was this filmed?
merrimac291 London, I believe
Hammersmith Odeon (or Apollo or whatever it's called these days)
To phuckin phunny
haaa!
what did the third guy say? I couldn't understand it over the crowd :/
Seven years late, but he said "A banjo's like a woman, no one needs to hear it"
Is there a version of the dvd that will play on US dvd players?
For the US you need Region 1.
Super gold bitch!!!!
Hittar du nått så säg gärna till!
the auto tune is like a woman...ruins every song and all the rap artists seem to abuse the fuck out of it
😂😂😂
I'm just glad there wasn't a Drummer......XD
1:36 for guitarist par if you wanna skip through awesomeness
change chello to double bass, my bad there
I like the one better with Orson Carson on guitar
Yeah, I wonder whatever
happened to him.
And why isn't his performance
on UA-cam anymore ???
"the chello's like a woman....its big, fat, loves to be slapped!" your welcome bro
Would be even better W\O the sailor potty mouth but i actually thought this was a REGULAR NORMAL Song 🎵 😅 NOT !
Good thing they didn't make a relation, with the drums.
the answer to your question is(no one needs to hear).
@yellowpowerranger251
What he said, please.
there was
If Bo Burnham wasnt trash
It's big and fat and wants to be what?
...loves to be slapped! I'm guessing this line would spawn a Guardian article, these days
The Banjo's like a woman...no one needs to hear it.
A double bass is like a woman. It's big and fat and likes to be slapped.
