I loved the sound of the standard one more. Now I took the special to the rehearsal room and played it at a gig too. All I can say is, the special is superior in every regard. It cuts better trough the mix, has more dynamics and way more boom to it. I‘ve got the hh model.
Agreed, just ordered mine dual humbucker as well, arrives tomorrow.. can't wait for it.

Man. The 5-strings look so much better than the 4-strings. The body contour, the continuous pickguard... I'm getting a 5 string!

Yep that Cruz teal bass is gorgeous but way out of my price range for now but in about 15 years I could maybe afford one.

Try and look on the used market as music man don’t hold their value on the second hand market or if you want one brand new try a finance option :)
They are 3000$ canadian
The 5 string stingray special costs around 3100 $ in Canada.....
You should try Thomann in Germany. If you ask for a discount, they will give it to you. I've negociated my brand new Stingray 5 (old series) arround 1700 euros. Wich is more than a bargen for a brand new ray. Now I'm dreaming of my second Stingray. Best of luck to you.
They sure are expensive but they are great. Lots of brands are expensive here in Europe, even those brands that manufacture their stuff here. The price also includes tax which bump the prices up a few hundred. I have been eyeing and trying out these great MM Stingray Special for a time now but it's kinda hard after playing exclusively on ESP stuff for a time now. :)
The stingray didn't sound so great playing Jazz.
