    loved working with the zoo foxes. Lucy did the same thing, but was so demanding of having belly rubs! Mouthing is natural to them, and a sign of affection. Ron Ron is so affectionate to you!

    If one bothers to expand the description of the video to read about how RonRon became this very caring man's pet, many of the comments here probably wouldn't have been made. Read the facts before you post comments that make you look like an idiot.

      Domesticated ones are similar to dogs in behavior, but are expensive and require a large area to be. Like a fairly sized backyard. If i could buy one i would, my yard is indeed big enough.

    • @nutellafoxvideos7350
      @nutellafoxvideos7350 9 років тому

      Smokey Melody FIM When it comes down to it, the Russian Foxes will cost more, less destructive, and more 'snuggly' but the same can be said if you were to get a fox from the breeder Eric got ronny from, and were lucky or knowledgeable to get one with a very good personality. From what I understand, the breeder Eric got ronny from usually prefers it if the people who get the kit get it at about 4 weeks old and bottle feed it for a week so that the kit bonds A LOT with the owner.
      Unfortunately, Eric said he had a medical issue come up that delayed him from getting Ronny for about 1.5 weeks, so he got Ronny at about 5-6 weeks instead of 4, which, from what I read from him, ronny was a little 'hostile' for a couple weeks, but then ronny ended up bonding with him.
      I think there's another person who got their fox kit and bottle fed it for a week, and their fox is a bit more "domesticated" than Ronny. Also, as time goes on and Breeders do some of their own selective breeding, the foxes become tamer and more domesticated.
      All foxes, no matter who you get them from will be slightly destructive, require a LARGE outdoor pen like Ronny has, and your relationship with it will be more of a Companionship than a master-dog relationship.

    I ignore what people say about some exotic animals being pets because if You know how to keep them properly healthy and happy and SAFE, than I think it's alright to have exotic pets as long it's LEGAL.
    Lately I've been thinking of getting a fox when I live on my own. I've heard their not much different to dogs when it comes to their diet. I live in Arkansas too and I thought I would need some kind of permit to own a fox. But I've always wanted to have a chihuahua puppy as well. If I were to get both at a young age together, would they be companies? Or should I just choose owning one at a time?
    Please answer my questions coz I'm not too far from living on my own.

    I've been in love with foxes since I was like 10 years old (now I'm 26); You end up with a pet fox when you fill your bedroom walls with inkjet pictures of foxes, buy every fox plush you can find for years, buy any book (even if it is meant for 2 yr olds!) that happens to have a fox on the cover.... You spend a majority of your daydreams fantasizing yourself turning into a fox or being a fox, etc..
    This is what it means to be a "furry", which is to easily identify yourself with or as an animal

    • @nutellafoxvideos7350
      @nutellafoxvideos7350 9 років тому

      Sierra carpenter I found out the breeder Eric got Ronny from. Ronny is Partially Domesticated. Most american fox breeders who are GOOD breeders who've been at it for a while doing their own selective breeding are at their 10th-15th generation of foxes. Comparing it to this point of the Russian Domestication Experiment, the foxes are responsive towards humans and want affection, but only when they want it. They still are destructive, and can be quite hyper. What some American breeders have found is that having the owners get the kit a week earlier, 3 wks instead of 4wks, and having to bottle feed it for a little bit helps domesticate them more usually.
      Eric got ronny A couple weeks later than planned due to a medical issue, so he got ronny at 5 weeks. But ronny is still responsive to Eric and loves Eric.

      how is that different than you being stuck at work for 8-10 hours a day, then stuck in a car? Maybe 3-6 hours free time depending on how much you need to sleep.
      It's an animal, no concept of time ( no future concpet of time, just conditioning) , they live in the now. It's not a sentient being, not self aware. The fox is healthy and happy.

    • @debswickman3213
      @debswickman3213 9 років тому +2

      *****
      sorry, may be you don't understand the term sentient. Dogs have no concept of time. Do some research.
      animal cognition researcher William Roberts made some remarkable conclusions regarding animal memories, anticipation and more. He says that animals are "stuck in time" [source: Roberts]. By this he means that, without the sophisticated abilities it takes to perceive time -- like truly forming memories -- animals only live in the present. Roberts thinks animals are "stuck in time" because they can't mentally "time travel" backward and forward. Humans can consciously and willfully think back to specific memories and anticipate events. Animals cannot.
      animals.howstuffworks.com/pets/dogs-perceive-time1.htm
      this is why hitting a dog with a newspaper if they poo on your rug doesn't work. The dog doesn't associate the 2 acts together as action/reaction. .

      Someone never learned what domestication means...
      Dogs were once wolves. Perfectly fine to own a fox if you are going to commit to it.
      The fox is giving more interaction in 2 minutes than I got from my Nanday conure bird in 1 day. I loved that bird ( 21 years, passed nearly 2 years ago), but it's much harder than a dog or cat. And destructive too, flying poo everywhere.
      Frankly, second guessing a pet owner and not having one yourself is silly guesswork. The fox is clearly bonded to him and they have mutual affection. That's what animal companions are for.

    You seem to be right on! That combo of the "in" and "out" housing seems to be the winner with foxes!
    Pat, on the Sybil's forum, see link on my profile, even built a "tower" that her foxes can climb, a couple "stories" high!

    Wonderful! Clearly a very healthy, happy and well looked after fox. He seems to be very content and I'm sure that comes from having a very intelligent and caring owner. Well done! :)

    Here here! They are in the Canid family after all! *distant relatives!*

  • @foxalbiazul
    @foxalbiazul  14 років тому

    yes, it so totally awesome to see and witness in person!!! once bonded with their human family (may take months!), they long for your touch (as a greeting, then after that, it's Hands Off, unless they request petting), they long for your interaction and pine for attention!
    Who said they can't be loving pets??? hmm?

    You obviously took care of that pet well to like you. Many people in this world just leave the wild pet on their own, but, it needs to learn to LIKE, no, no, LOVE you. If you do not get it attention, it would go crazy, well done raising an adorable pet!

    I'm a 14 year old girl had pets my whole life I can't think of a time when I didnt. I live in arkansas as well and I grew up on a farm. The beautiful foxes would come right up to me on my porch. I want one now more than ever.

    Aww, how cute. Gizmo does the same mouthing thing on me when I play with him.
    I'm jealous of how calm Ron is--Gizmo's greetings generally involve a lot more noise and running in circles and him trying to climb me.
    I think you've got the same kind of crate for Ron that we have as a night crate for Gizmo. :)

    Pet foxes in general, get really happy and excited when you 'come home' from work or school, or just after being 'away' for an hour or two!! It's like they say I MISSED YOU SO MUCH, I LOVE YOU!!!
