Jean-Luc was my musical mentor at the Peabody Conservatory. And his creative skill has carried me through the 80's. I found my own niche, and Jean-Luc had a part of it. And I will go to my grave thanking him.

This is my power, faith and hope song. Whenever things get tough, and I fell sad, down and without hope, I pray, then play this song, and I am restored.

One the most coolest things about Jean-Luc is he brings space to his musicians to shine as well.

My favorite Jazz Fusion artist . I saw him in the late seventies or maybe early eighties at Oberlin College at Finny Chapel doing his Imaginary Voyage . I had gotten there early and he and his band went through all their number before the concert . So I got to hear him twice . Thanks for the great video .

    This makes my eyes water.
I got to hear JLP & Band twice--in one night @ Oakland CA.
Then there was the memorable night--row 4--Paul Masson Winery- @ Saratoga CA.
This was the best live music my ears have ever heard.
Thank you so much, Maestro, for a lifetime of pure enjoyment.

Gads We had such _high hopes_ for music back then! l was at this show in Vancouver! l was 16, a girl, and they almost didn't let me in, cuz it was at the Commodore …..so l _pleaded and promised_ l wouldn't drink. Good thing l was cute, and _knowledgeable_ when it came to a TUNE! l got to chat with Zavod at a Zappa concert 2 years later! l SO wish the youth would PAY ATTENTION and go back to learning to PLAY!

l;m looking at my comment 5 years ago. l wondered why they didnt just tell me no. When they asked for ID l said ''l left my car in the purse''. Anyway. Ponty's music is unique in that he's just crazy with scales, and as the other band members play their crazy vamp, Alan, or Jean Luc go scale bonkers! l love it. My daddy played all the great jazz when l was a little thing. l loved it!

Great recording quality and video, but has it been sped up here? (Is that possible?) I was at three JLP concerts where he played this (including summer '82 in NYC, with this lineup), and I don't recall the tempo ever being noticeably faster than on the album, like it is here.
