"You are young and foolish lieutenant" - says it to a millenia old alien who bio engineered a zerg/protos hybrid.

I really don't understand the plot here. The player; Captain surely has seen how the Zerg overwhelmed his forces in the last mission, and he also knew that it's because of Duran. He saw the Zergs coming from where Duran was stationed, which means Duran let the Zerg on the loose. He know that, so why would he not object to Duran's accusation for Stukov's betrayal, as if one can believe Duran's word?

The player just follows the orders of DuGalle. And maybe it is a different captain. As the player as character does not really exist and there is no actual proof of Durans betrayal, it seems logical how it happened IMHO.

Beyond what Udo Krawallo says, the characters in-world are not so certain of Duran's betrayal at that point in the story. Duran claimed not to know of any zerg at that location, and then seemed to have lost comms with Stukov before a reason could be ascertained as to why he was out of position. There simply wasn't enough solid evidence to convince DuGalle or anybody else that Duran was anything less than honest with them - owing to the fact that he'd been pretty useful up to that point. It's really missions 7 and 8 where DuGalle realizes how thoroughly Duran was running a ruse on them all, though far too late to save my favorite character, Stukov.

Duran likely has psionic powers allowing him to nudge everyone just enough to not question him

I also like to think Duran has a corrupting influence on some people, like the Ring has in LOTR; Stukov and Dugalle have apparently been friends since childhood yet all Stukov did was not destroy a piece of equipment when he was ordered to do so, that shouldn't have warranted the death penalty. Dugalle should have waited more for Stukov to reappear and explain himself.
Like how Duran/Kerrigan is able to corrupt the Protoss Matriarch perhaps Duran can cloud "weak minded" peoples thinking.

@@mikesully110 Considering he was created by the Xel Naga I would assume he can manipulate weak minded humans. We see him face off against primal Kerrigan in HOTS and almost win.

I always thought it was pretty dumb the way the admiral was tricked so easily.
