What’s funny is I feel coyotes are more of a spooky sound and creep me out more than wolves.

@@johnecrouch2671 we have property in central Oregon and I’ve been hearing coyotes my whole life, I think it’s the pitch, yapping and almost like a language being spoken that intrigues me so much. Eastern Oregon a few years ago I heard my first wolves at night and it was pretty neat, still haven’t seen one live.

Here in OK it’s mostly yote’s as our primary large predators, but we’re seeing more and more bears in some areas and definitely more encounters with cougars. I’ve never *seen* one but I’ve back tracked down a trail probably 10min later and found cougar tracks on top of my own. Also had a couple bobcats look at me and not know what I was during a rare snowstorm. They got within 25yds and all I had was a long bow.

@@soonerfrac4611 In WY we have all the large predators. About 10 years or so ago I called in a mountain lion, while bow hunting elk. It had been a slow morning and I was blind calling. After spending about 20 minutes in one location I was just moving on. Fortunately I had moved uphill. I’d went maybe 100 yds looked back and there was a cat stalking my previous location. When we made eye contact it was a couple of tense moments. After staring at me the cat turned and simply vanished. Then I didn’t know which way he was going. Made for a interesting rest of the morning.

@@thistledewoutdoors3331you do realize those 180 lb Canadian grey wolves were not here before the white man. They were little 40 lb wolves that were wiped out and the Eco terrace environment was brought back the 180 lb Canadian wolves and their decimating the herds of deer and elk.

My great-grandfather came to Oregon in 1864.... (NO B.S.) I MIGHT KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT OREGON'S HISTORY. Grandpa said the wolves were never killed out... Over the grizzly unit back in the 1960s they came across a full-on grizzly bear. What are the bear would pick a 300 lb mule buck up and carry it over log without dragging it?
Personally I've seen wolves, in Starkey by the hot springs. I've seen wolves at Big Meadows horse camp on highway 22. I saw a wolf in BROWNSVILLE (or).
And the cold hard truth is in 1968 the Oregon department of fish and wildlife planted two wolves at the head of the MacKenzie River and had five pups that year.... A friend of my dad named Tom skaggs he's a Siletz Indian and he's a GUIDE on the river caught them doing it...
I've heard wolves, multiple times, around MEDFORD.
