The reason Killer has eyelights at the end is because he is back to his feeling state or stage 1. Killer has 4 stages. When he is in stage 1 he is closer to Classic, in stage 2 he is just regular Killer in which his emotions are suppressed and he is unpredictable, in stage 3 he just goes crazy hurting anyone and everyone whether he means to or not, and in stage 4 he will become like a wild animal, ignoring any orders even from Nightmare and he won't come out of this stage until everyone in sight is dead. Nightmare likes to keep him in stage 2 as in stage 1 he wouldn't like hurting and he is too volatile and unpredictable in stage 3 and 4.

I was wondering about how his stages worked. I knew he had them, and that 4 was REALLY bad, but only that.

If you watched the ending of the video it should show you all the creators whose characters were in the episode. There are SO MANY different AUs its insane! Their creators are credited and had pictures of who the characters were at the ending!
Also I'm so excited for the next episode! Its very Inkcentric! Hehe. I'm glad your enjoying this! Underverse is so far one of my favorite Undertale animations and is really what got me into the Undertale verse to begin with! I really do love the blending of all these characters.
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE EPISODE!!! So excited to dissect it with you bud.
- 7:07 Yes, characters usually eat to recover streignth, but in this case, it's just XGaster enjoying a meal. It's fun to see how desensitized he is at this point, for him these are all just pieces of code that can be changed, not people, so he can do this kind of silly stuff and not feel weird. He's literally just eating and chilling while his plan is coming through. Also, correct. XGaster doesn't care about Sans because he's already broke him, now he's trying to break Frisk.
- The event that was redacted in Cross' memories is the XTale and Epictale crossover, named "Perfect Encounter". It's been teased for years, but as of now there hasn't been any news about it, the only thing we know is that it probably took place around Timeline 10, after the timeskip where they all became royal guards. XGaster probably redacted the memory of it because he got hummiliated, at least it's what was hinted.
- Poppy is someone's drawing that came to life thanks to magic. She doesn't have a home or family, so Core!Frisk pretty much adopted her, she calls them "granpa" because they speak like an old person sometimes.
- 29:20 Gaster is fighting because he needs Cross alive and "well". He's his most important pawn after all. Also, this means that Gaster knows hand-to-hand combat, probably taught it to himself with Overwrite.
- I feel that the "Am I evil for what I am?" was actually from Cross, the text just showed what he really was thinking against what he said. But your theory is still nice!
- 36:31 while this could just be Cross' imagination, we have to remember that the whole XTale crew is linked by their code, that's how XGaster speaks through them, you can imagine it like strings attatching them all together. This could very well be a moment where Cross and the others connect and have a small realization, which is why later we see X!Undyne smiling, although she quickly hides it.
- This is my favourite episode thanks to the Nightmare fight sequence, this entire series we've seen how good he is with his words, but this time, we realize he's got the muscle to back up his speech, he does not need help from anyone to be a threat both physically and mentally, that's why he's my personal favourite villain in the series.
The song during the fight is called "Black Apple" by NyxTheShield, by the way. It's Nightmare's theme in Underverse.
- Cross is not wearing a tanktop, it WAS a turtleneck, but it was torn during battle. Fun fact: You can actually see Killer's stab wounds in the chest area of the turtleneck, such cool attention to detail.
- 48:13 That's Epic!Gaster. You know, the one who murdered a child and then became a buff guy in a black suit who wants to destroy humanity. Chill dude.
- 48:48 They both know that XGaster won't go down easy, at least not at this time. He's trying to shove Core away by telling them they won't change him, which only shows how insecure he actually is. I personally think he'll have a redemption at the end, Undertale has always been a story about forgiveness and hope after all. I don't think he'll go unpunished, but I think the cracks showing on his fascade are really intentional.
About that, there's this series of side-comics about Timeline X. They don't have any lore relevance and are mostly to expand on random XTale stories that happened during Timeline 10, and there we see a really goofy and.. quite pathetic version of XGaster, and we're talking about the same timeline where he commited a massacre and was almost killed. But during those calm moments where nothing was happening you can see how he shifts from a villain into what is basically a college student struggling with his project? I'll send a few pages to the Discord so you see what I mean, it really shows how XGaster is only a threat because he's above everyone in terms of power, but without that, he's just a nerd struggling with perfectionism.

Quick deets with Thomas
- It's kinda just Cross' trauma. He's gone through so much crap that he can't look at people without seeing his versions of them get messed up.
- Epictale is a... _weird_ AU. There's a bunch of changes that don't really follow a particular theme or extend off of a particular event, and one of them is that Sans is the Royal Scientist. And also says "bruh" a lot.
- On that note, Epic and Cross actually know each other. Jakei and the creator of Epictale are actually friends IRL, and used to make canon crossovers between their stories. Epictale itself actually has references to the X-Tale cast.
- Poppy calls Core!Frisk "granpa" as a cute little nickname. I think it's supposed to be some weird gender-neutral take on "grandpa" or "grandma", but I'm not sure. I also think it's because of Core's grey hair.
- XGaster has an inherent connection with all 10 "main characters" of X-Tale, and is able to use it in conjunction with Overwrite to take control of them whenever he wants. It's how he has the crew in Undertale under his thumb, and it's how he's puppetting Cross here.
- Yeah, Imma say Cross seeing his Royal Guard crew is just Jakei making fancy visuals. It _is_ a nice visual representation of what really set in Cross' core values.
- Dream (and also Nightmare, in his own way)... yeah, he basically _is_ a walking Spirit Bomb. Both he and Nightmare grow stronger the more positivity and negativity there are around them, respectively. As such, when people are sending Dream their sheer unrelenting positivity like that, it _would_ look like a Spirit Bomb. So, in short, yes, they _are_ Spirit Bombing this shit.
- The arms are ripped off. It used to be a turtleneck, but battle damage went brrrrr and... well, you can see it.
- We, uh... we don't really _need_ to talk about Epic Gaster (the one in the white suit who looks super buff). He's not really relevant to this plot and is also just kind of an ass.
- So... thanks to ATs (and even AUs having their own ATs), we know that the greater Undertale fan-multiverse runs on, well, multiverse theory. This even extends to "outcode" characters like Error, meaning that if any one of them interferes, another timeline is created where things go on as if they never existed there. So yeah, by all means, the AUs should be able to fix themselves over time by reverse-engineering timelines in which Error didn't tear them to shreds.

Also after that there's a post credits scene with voice acting from Cross. I think there might be one at the end of 0.7 part 2 as well. No spoilers, just making sure you dont miss it

Xgaster's legs are only about half gone to the knees, you just can't see it in the burger shot. Side note, his eating the burger is symbolic of his ownership of the character burger pants, who is the corrupted monster.
There are quite a few characters some of you may not be familiar with, so I guess I'll explain some notable ones.
Epic!Sans: Let's be real, 19/20 of you know who he is. He's as goofy as he is powerful, and he could probably solo all of Xtale. He's the Royal Scientist in both the old and current runs of Epictale. Never leave alone in a room with Cross. I am cursed with the knowledge he's an *ADULT* Frans shipper, and now you have to be too. Yes, I checked, the comics are by his creator. Yugo has a very distinctive style.
Empireverse Dream (13:54): I don't know quite how it works, but Empireverse seems to exist as a microcosm of multiverse conflicts, with the good Sanses being led by Dream, and the bad/antagonistic ones (including Fell and Cross) being led by Nightmare.
Poppy: CORE!Frisk's adoptive daughter, and native of the Omega Timeline. A drawing brought to life by a Frisk in an attempt to flirt with a Chara. She later adopted Dusted and their robotic counterpart Rust (46:37) as her "sibs". Best girl and perseverance soul.
Red: Character from one of, if not THE, original UT fangames. A ghost monster that has possessed a large doll, she is a member of the Royal Guard. Epictale seems to be the only major AU she has appeared in. Creator reportedly now works on Deltarune.
Delta and Abyss!Sans (43:07): AU hoppers, both of whom have met Cross in their own canons. The former merged with the bravery soul, while the latter uses crystal-based magic.
Inverted Fate Papyrus (43:07): Assistant to the Royal Scientist Undyne, and close friend of his Frisk, and ally to his world's Chara. Canonically knows about AUs.
Kiwi (43:04): I don't think anyone knows what their deal is. Just don't break their radio.

I think everyone forgot that cross and xpapyrus became xgaster kids for the most recent timeline of xtale, so there's a bond there that could explain why he felt compelled to control cross to keep him alive

So in a sense season 1 underverse is just the tale of two siblings (xchara and cross) trying to go for the inheritance (overwrite) xgaster left

I'm glad to see you making suach a brilliant analysis of XGaster. Most people only sees him as the villain and nothing more, but he's so much more complicated than that.
In Undertale, there is a very interesting and meaningful meta-narrative around video games and I think it's very cool to see something similar in this series. Flowey might be in the game itself but shares a lot of similarities with the player. He's gone to a path when everything he experienced became totally meaningless because too predictable. Because of that, he managed to detach himself from reality and saw the "game" as sets of numbers increasing and useless things and people wandering around that can't get him to feel anything new. A little like a player, farmer or speedrunner from our world would.
For me, XGaster's creations are part of him, "a reflection" to quote Dream, in the same way that creations are part of artists. Except he's in the story itself. You don't want to experience a story in which nothing is happening because it wouldn't mean anything to anyone including yourself. XGaster has to make it interesting. XGaster has to create drama. XGaster is a writer.

I've been waiting for you to watch this episode since you started Underverse, it's definitely my favorite one!
I always like the way you analyse everything, i never noticed a lot of details you often point out, and I've seen this series like 4 times already, it's pretty cool to hear your thoughts and theories about the story

14:21 There are some comics there that are for fun for the characters, it's like a canonical filler that didn't appear in the story but I think Jael made some comics of the two of them together having fun fighting against the evil Majin Buu from Dragon Ball trying to do that fusion scene but It kind of didn't work out since they both don't have ears and their comics are all for fun and to entertain people, there must also be an animation that Jakei made of the two of them because in the main story the epic remembers it but the cross doesn't remember it because in the main story jakei wanted to do the Xtale story so she couldn't fit in the characters who know the cross from the comics until 0.7. I still remember the comics of cross and epic holding a rubber chicken to fight Majin Buu XD

This makes me also wonder if XGaster himself would like to not be able to feel emotions when in Ink's case it's other wise that Ink WANTS TO feel emotions and new kinds instead of feeling nothing. Kind of makes me think if that phrase in this season 2 episode had this also in mind when written that "emotions distract me" line for XGaster.
Seeing this video show up and watching it cheered my evening a lot! Been waiting for you get to this episode since last Autumn because this is so far my favorite Underverse episode!!!
It's balanced so well with cool action fighting scenes but also so well written and paced + the music fits so well in every scene. The exact same moment you needed a pause was the same for me. It was written and executed so well that when I just watched Cross going through at that moment what is his identity in this messed up reality he's living in and Dream giving him hope that he really needed was so powerfull moment that I also needed to pause when I watched it for the first time.
Not many episodes left for you to react anymore but I'm looking forward to see your reactions for those and after that you'll have plenty of time checking out the comics for extra details and information that the animation doesn't show.

Of the AUs I’ve seen, surprisingly few have involved XTale/Underverse beyond cameos or non-canon shenanigans.
The two I can think of right now are the tumblr comic Epictale, which is seen in this episode, and the DeviantArt comic Abysstale, which got a reboot and may not include XTale now. I think the old version of Abysstale still has a dub on UA-cam, so it could be something to react to if you want.
I’m guessing once Underverse S2 ends, a couple of people may try to make their own continuations. I’m guessing people don’t want to involve Underverse stuff before the story is finished, because A) it’s feels like taking the storyline for yourself, and B) they don’t want to confuse viewers by splitting off from Underverse’s storyline at a random moment. I myself want to make a series, but animation is hard.
If anyone happens to know any AU comics/series that have Underverse connections (or are just good in general), please let me know!!

This episode is among my favourite, especially for the Killer, Nightmare, Cross and Dream fight. Not only is it insanely good animated (absolutely stellar, love it so much), but the music is also amazing. The contrast between the two fight themes, with Killer's Occisor being slow paced, grand feeling and Nightmare's black apple being fast paced with a real royal feel to it.

Edit 2: Core is Omnipresent, NOT Omniscient. Omnipresence is being everywhere, while Omniscience is knowing everything. Core knows everything they know by viewing all timelines at once, but they don't know what doesn't happen in a time they couldn't view, say, before they fell and became Core.

If any of the AlphaTale/Verse cast were to be involved in UnderVerse. The X-Event and whatever revolves around it would simply be over. I don’t know what KM were to do but he’ll most likely eradicate X!Gaster for what he’s caused to the Multiverse so he can bring back the balance of Creation & Destruction.

Killer showed his pupils bc he has different "stages" each stage being more AGGRESSIVE the most peaceful one is known as "stage 1" where even his soul has the shape of a regular momster soul but red
Nightmare ALWAYS FORCES. Killer by physically or mentally way to stay on stage 2 since in stage 1 he CAN feel this is where his soul becomes a target.
Then we got stage 3 which is the same but aggressive his soul is the same but it looks distortioned
And stage 4 which we don't see the soul on the canon but when he's on this stage his black "tears" (dt) nearly covers all his face (similar to undertale chara creepy face) becoming way faster each stage

Aaaay so to explain stuff a little
1 so jakei have a friend artist who also made their own au called epic tale and OH MY GOD it's some anime/manga level quality artstyle!!! They (mostly if not all) do them traditionally too and they often post comics on Tumblr (and of course like any mutual friend artist they made their oc's besties basically-) so epic sans and cross known eachother and are best friends and they do some extra back and forth comic collab sometimes for fun! (Also that's the epic tale gang at 52:53)
2 Jakei animation have grown EVEN BETTER! I can't wait until you see just how much more awesome the few next ep will be!!!! :D (note: there will be a certain future character that was personally hell to animate and I'm sure you'll know exactly why after you watch the most recent ep XD) not to mention she did it all by herself!! Epic Sans is the Royal Scientist of his world, and Epic and him are great friends, or at least they were before XGaster erased Cross' memories. Also Epic is my favorite AU version of Sans.

Something interesting about Core frisk is that they canonically constantly see other timelines and AUs of most characters at all times (but sadly this is not shown in Underverse) and they are heavily implied to be able to see the past and the future. So it’s possible that Core frisk could have seen other versions of Xgaster if he made different decisions.
Also, there was a short extra scene at the end of Underverse 0.6 with voice acting, which teases “Perfect Encounter”, a bonus episode that involves Xtale and Epictale (as a canon / official collab between both creators) that will be animated once Underverse is fully complete.
There is also an extra scene at the very end of Underverse 0.7 part 2!

So glad you enjoyed the episode! You are very right about Cross and XGaster, except that the XTale crew are XGaster's creations, thus the reason of him being able to control them, all except XFrisk and XChara, with XFrisk of course being more acceptable to being controlled by XGaster, because of XFrisk's whole passive and accepting nature, plus the last time we saw him XFrisk has lost his Determination trait. Also it is possible that XGaster still has no way of controlling XChara, as he has never got to control them, ever.
Also yeah, here we got one of the best episodes of the entire series along with the best fights in the series, AND, one of the best animations as a whole, ever, done by a single person, that rivals and surpasses most of the animation studios!!!11
ALSO, the people who cheered Cross as well as tried to convince him, are the EpicTale AU, who's creator is friends with Jael!

Don't know if you noticed, the big big dog with the tiny face, "Fox"...."Told you my name is Toby" "Fox" Toby Fox.... creator of Undertale. Just felt I had to point this out cause I don't know if you noticed it. You started to laugh at the sunglasses cloud in the background right away.
And with this episode, I can see fully why my friend ships Dream and Cross so hard. It's a amazing interaction between those two as Dream helped Cross fight against his literal nightmares.
There were times I had to stop your video just because of something you said because of some of the AU's I know about that made me wonder if you actually knew more then you thought. And yes, there is a couple Mob type AUs out there including a version of UnderFell I believe that has Red as part of the Mob.
Speaking of AUs, I am actually working on my own that is sort of based off of the prohibition with monsters being based on different alcoholic drinks being forced underground and humans being mocktails and non alcoholic drinks. Thought you would be interested in knowing about that one as I have AbsintheSans and GinPapyrus as two of the characters. Got them drawn up and everything.
