Nah, but Community should be higher. None of the cast may have never received an Emmy but unlike friends and modern family, they didn't need them to justify there strength as actors. Community is so underrated and unlike the higher ones listed, deserving of the 1 spot
Community was always number 1 on every critic's snubbed list. At least the critics eventually told the Emmy's to get stuffed and gave Community the Critic's Choice Award it deserved. As a result of the ridiculous bias (probably bought) the Emmy's and other award shows displayed, I have zero respect left for them. They're such a joke.
I mean its a show that DID NOT NEED a laughing track because the acting and writing was good
I know he's an asshole and all that, but Chevy Chase reminded you why he was a star on that show, pretty much every episode.

Yeah and Annie and Jeff weren’t supposed to be a ship but their chemistry was just that high that they changed the ships from Jeff and Britta and Annie and Troy to Jeff and Annie.

Community should be at least top three if not number one. All of the Greendale seven are amazing characters and all get their chance to shine, and you even have the side characters getting their moment. Community is one of the most underrated shows ever. Hopefully, now that it's on Netflix people will realize how good it is.

Actually number 1 or number 2, I can’t believe that the creator of this list thought that mentioning Frasier as an offshoot of Cheers was sufficient for its magnificent cast. I would have placed Frasier at number 1 or 2, depending on how I was feeling that day (I.e., I have trouble deciding bet. Friends and Frasier). OTOH, the list didn’t include Homicide: Life on the Streets, so I assume it was a straight up comedy ensemble cast - it also didn’t include ER, Chicago Hope, NCIS, etc).

It's nice to see that such an underrated gem of a tv show gets recognition here. Community will always have a smaller fan base than friends but a much more dedicated one.

Arrested Development practically invented the "true" ensemble comedy cast for television that became the prototype for years to come. Community took that to another level with the chemistry between all of those characters and It's Always Sunny is what Kid Cudi would refer to as "unfuckwittable," and has been for over a decade. They're placements on this list are unacceptable and I will not standby as they as disrespected so carelessly.

Community definitely should have been higher. The characters just worked so amazingly together just making amazing stories and always playing off each other. Modern family should not have been higher than community. There are good characters on that show far and few while community only had amazing characters

What I love about Community is how diverse the cast is, not just with running gags and personalities, but also with their backstories, their age, their etnicity and stuff like that. Most sitcoms either just have a family or a group of people from the same age, but community did it a little different.

Here's the thing about Friends being number 1. This list was about the best ensemble cast. Friends had 6 main characters who were in every single episode, and got paid the same amount for every episode, and the characters were equally important to the entire series. This list was not about what was the best show or the funniest it was about the ensemble cast. So yes friends gets number one it defines an ensemble cast name another show that qualifies all those standards.

Also, the six main characters had six different personalities, and that made their thoughts and interests bounce off each other very well, giving a very good chemistry between the actors. Ross is paranoid and nervous and a "nerd", Chandler is funny and sarcastic, Joey is a womanizer and man-child, Phoebe is eccentric but lovable, Monica is a neat freak, and Rachel uses her attractiveness to get her places.
Yeah, but in that light, Big Bang Theory is not an ensemble cast since all the actors of the group are not paid the same amount (the difference was huge at one point). and I suspect many series featured here are in the same situation. It was exceptional to have all the group members be paid the same.
Jessica Smith You are correct. I thought most of the other shows on the list were better, but your comment made me realize that it was the most ensemble of all of the shows mentioned.
How did Will & Grace not merit a mention??
And I think How I met your Mother should've been somewhere on the list, since they really great when they were all together.

In general Parks and Rec will always hold a spot as my number one. I love the support for Community in the comment section as it was really a forgotten gem until Netflix brought it back. And the first five seasons of the office are just classics. I understand why Friends took the #1 spot, during its run it was literally the most popular show on TV. But being born in 1997, the time I started understanding comedy was right when the Community and Parks and Rec came out.
On Friends, there was never one specific star. So, I totally agree with it being number one.

Community and Parks deserve waaay higher ranks
Even if you don't think it's the best show, Community HAS to be #1. No other group of characters is even remotely as consistently well done, involving, and likeable as Community. It is the absolute greatest ensemble of all time.

I've always been more of a fan of TV shows that don't have laugh tracks in the backround. They're much funnier because you decide what's supposed to be funny about the show. I cringe whenever I hear backround laughing. Unless it's friends, that show is genuinely funny

My only exception is Seinfeld
that's because the dialog is more realistic and you can experience the funny, awkward and emotional situations a lot better when there are no laugh tracks. tv shows with laugh tracks make the viewer feel like a dumb ass when they say what you're supposed to laugh at.

Ron White meh, I think season 4 on forward is really lacking in creativity. Plus I think they're trying to ride the shock factor for too long now.

I love this! Everyone is bashing Friends, but I have seen most of the shows on this list and I love most of them, but Friends is so undeniably awesome! Even if it isn't my favorite, I can't say that it doesn't deserve to be number 1. It is so heartwarming and it is so popular even amongst younger people.
i see your point, but i think the episodes from the office are a bit more rewatchable because they are a lot more immersive (no laugh tracks) and different from one another. i would say the same thing about community, but i think the only seasons worth watching are the fist three, and there are not as many episodes (as amazing and original as they are) as there are in friends or the office, so it would get boring after a few frequent rewatches

Nice list. I wish Everybody Loves Raymond was great and every cast member earned an emmy for their roles, Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, That 70's Show, Scrubs, Big Bang Theory, Martin, Steve Harvey Show, George Lopez and Wayans Brothers should deserve to be on a second list of these at least.

Do all groups diverse representations. Yes.
Does every group have to represent every other group when representing themselves? ...........?
Does ALL art and fiction have to be automatically inclusive for all diversity, making everything homogeneous? No.
There are a lot of words that describe that mentality and it makes it easier for manipulators to manipulate;
"Trite", "Pandering", "Lip service", "Token", "Contrived", "manufactured", "Insincere", "Virtue signalling", "Conformity", "Peer pressure", "Heavy handed". The list goes on.
And Americans thinking they can enforce this standard onto the rest of the world, because of their own cultural flaws and foibles?

Speaking as someone who's very mixed in my ancestral diversity, and as a writer, I'm all about proper representations.

@@Spoeism I couldn't agree more with most of this. But I think reinvisioning famous characters and stories with people of different races and genders allows everyone an equal chance to provide their spin on a certain role.

I'm all for diversity but I think you are right in most of what you wrote.
I also realize by diversity they were talking about personality and not race or gender. I just thought it was funny since nowadays diversity is almost exclusively referring to gender and race and Cheers wouldn't be the first sitcom that has a diverse cast of characters that would come to mind for me.

The cast of MASH wasn't "completely' replaced. Gary Burghoff made the transition from the movie to the TV show as the endearing Radar O'Reilly.

This list is also about relatable characters too, that 70s show was about high schoolers. The sitcoms they named are all relatable to adults
when it comes to characters in sitcoms, Community and Parks and Recreation are the only 2 that i love all the characters, all the other mentions in this list are a mixed bag, with a lot of dull characters, even in Friends i didn't like them all, even if i like the show very much.

I have only one question. Where in the world is “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”? It, at least, deserved an honorable mention.
I'm just finished watching Modern Family last February and continue watching Community in Netflix and I can't move on Community after finish it. I still rewatch the episode Pillow vs Blanket, Chicken finger episode, Dean become crazy to make school commercial, Law & Order episode, Annie pen and of course every paintball episode. Wow, I mean Community seriously a great sitcom and I don't understand why Modern Family winning an Emmy and Community not even nominated in 2012 which Community on season 3 by far the best season on the series.
Huh, I really don't get where all this hate or dislike for Friends is coming from. Eh, well, I'm just happy that they're at their rightful place as number one. :----D I mean, you gotta admit, the show's pretty smooth, and the cast chemistry is great.
