Perfectly explained and done this. It says it will take 30 days in which to complete the process, which is fine. The account is now deleted already. As a point of order, some icons are missing from the view, and what you have to do is go to the right, click on the thumbnail pic and a menu comes up for settings and delete.

You found the button that is described in the first part? I did not, at the first, so could not delete. However, under my thumb nail picture, pressing on that, the icon came up, and plain sailing after that

In addition, you have to know that upon clicking CONTINUE you have 30 days to relog in to interrupt deletion and after 30 days without trying to login back to the account, that's the time when the Facebook will start deleting your account.
