Halo 1 Cortana followed the soon-abandoned, then recently re-imagined Rampancy plot thread that was in the books.
In the books, her assimilation of knowledge from the Forerunner database was overwhelming her thought processes. The sheer volume of data reduced her processing abilities to less than 20% of what she had been capable of. She became irritable and easily agitated when she came to realize that she was not as all-powerful as she thought she was.
I met them and I called her out on that line.
I'd put, "These weather patterns don't seem natural", as a close second.

Correct. If you read the books, there’s a lot more character development and an understanding of why Chief cares about her so much. She’s really the only family he has outside of Mendez, Halsey, and Blue Team...if you even want to consider Halsey and Mendez.

Jennifer Taylor's normal voice sounds nothing like Cortana but Steve Downes...he sounds like chief every day.
I think that’s backwards
They both sound like their characters but you can hear the slight differences, chief is a bit lower voiced than Downes. Cortana is very well spoken and straight speaker, JT is a bit giggly and a little higher pitched.

Jen Taylor having to clarify "still me" repeatedly makes me realize how much Halo's writing relies on Cortana. She's not just the voice of exposition, but the emotional core of the story as well. She has to carry most of the scenes between her and Chief, and that's reflected in the amount of dialogue.
Cortana, an artificial AI, is more human than Chief, a human who has been stripped of his humanity. They were perfect because of how that dynamic works.

I never really thought about just how much Cortana talks in comparison to Chief

No, the definitely met before Halo 4 haha. Halo 4 was the first Halo game they worked on TOGETHER though, and that info came straight for them at this same panel. I think maybe that’s what he meant.

Chief going rampant was suppose to be Halo 5, recently found out that the original team doing it got fired from Microsoft cause it was “too dark” and Microsoft wanted a rated T halo game and not a rated M... didn’t work to well as it can clearly be seen
I’d love but be heartbroken at the same time to see chief kill other Spartans just to get to a Guardian... or it could be ONI betraying chief like they done 2 times before

I met them at Outpost, and hey, here’s a little inside scoop for ya:
Outpost has a 5 year lease...so 4 more years of this (unless they renew the lease) which means you have 4 more opportunities to go. Super inexpensive for what you get out of it. Genuinely the most fun I’ve ever heard. They are also adding a few more cities to the tour so maybe you will find one closer to you (it distance was an issue).
Edit: And yes, I was able to shake their hand and have a conversation with them (and Jeff Easterling) and they signed my hat. Very nice people who genuinely care for the fans and this community. Can’t wait for you to meet them! If you want, check out my Outpost Vlog (part 2) and that’s where I meet them. I’m Part 1, I was lucky enough to ask them a question at the panel.

Nope, it was just a one time thing but it’s coming back. I made a video on that a while back. However, due to the pandemic and other unforeseen things, my prediction that it would come back was wrong. However, the other info is still valid.

Yeah I don't think Steve Downes knows anything about Halo canon. He's an old man and Jen does dozens of other voice acting projects.
He absolutely does lol. We had a chat with him about it. Jen was there too. They don’t know NEARLY as much as is Halo fans, but they do know a lot more than you may think.
@@Zenghilios What does he know then? The voice actors always look lost when asked about really specific things. Like Jen and Steve remember quotable lines because they're asked to do them all the time, but if you ask Steve what Chief's real name is, do you think he'd know? Would he know what planet he was born on or how old he is? Really basic info about his own character.
That’s exactly what he knows. From what I saw/heard, he knows John’s basic backstory and how Cortana was created. He even mentioned the Forerunner war one time and how it connects to the machine aspect of his character. He couldn’t no more but from the interview I had with him he seems pretty confident in the emotional aspect of his character. If you don’t believe me I have a video on my channel asking him about how halo infinite will affect his characters overall arc.
