VERSES ABOUT HUNTING AND HUNTING O you who believe! Do not send in full fulfillment of agreements you make. The external characteristics and flesh dimension of those who researched the dimension that was haram and to be reported were made halal. However, it is not permissible to hunt while wearing ihram. Allah gives whatever decision He wishes. (Maida / Verse 1) O you who believe! Do not disrespect the signs of Allah's religion, the sacred months, the sacrificial animals given to the Kaaba and the enmity around their necks, and those who come to the House of Haram seeking the favor and consent of their Lord. When you don't come out of the ihram, you can hunt if you want. Don't let outside anger drive you into aggression against a community just because they prevented you from visiting the Masjid al-Haram. Helping one another in goodness and piety; do not help each other in sin and enmity. fear God. Because the punishment of Allah is very severe. (Maida / Verse 2) My Messenger! They think of you what has been made lawful for them. Say: “Dimensionally, all good and pure things have been made lawful. The hunting animals that you have trained with the knowledge that Allah has taught you, eat what is caught for you, and mention Allah's name on them when you send them to hunt. Beware of opposing God; for Allah is swift in reckoning. (Maida / Verse 4) O you who believe! Allah will test you by forbidding the hunts that circulate near you in such a way that they will grab your hands and strike them with your spears while you are in ihram, in order to reveal those who fear Him without seeing them. However, whoever exceeds the forbidden limit, for them there is a painful punishment. (Maida / Verse 94) O you who believe! Do not kill game animals while in Ihram. Whoever among you deliberately kills an animal while he is in this state, gives the punishments to be given to taste the guilt of what he has done: Either by sacrificing an animal equivalent to the hunt killed by the decision of two righteous people among you, by delivering it to the Kaaba, or by feeding the poor as expiation, or by fasting accordingly. Mistakes made in this regard are forgiven by Allah. But whoever commits that sin again, Allah will avenge it. Because Allah is the one whose power always prevails, the one who takes revenge. (Maida / Verse 95) Hunting and eating sea animals has been made lawful for you and your passengers. However, as long as you are in ihram, it is forbidden for you to hunt on land. Beware of disobeying Allah, to whom you will be gathered, and from suffering His punishment. (Maida / Verse 96)
Dear brother, A person must do his hunting for the purpose of providing his living. Obtaining one's livelihood by hunting wild animals is one of the legitimate ways of earning in Islam. But other ways of earning are more virtuous than this. Telehhi, that is, hunting for pleasure and entertainment, just as a sport, is not welcomed in Islam. Because hunting with this intention gives gloom and heedlessness to the heart, and reduces the feelings of compassion and pity towards animals.

At what distance was the set up?
I usually set my hide about 15 to 20 yards away. Make it as easy as possible.
I thinned mine out last year but the numbers are back so I hope to do some tree rat hunting soon

I believe in science, not religion.
But hanging an animal by its back legs, cutting its throat so it dies slowly and in pain is OK.
