    Thank you, Carrie, I had stopped watching TV as a hole because of my loss of vision, I was unable to see to operate the menus for my television. your channel was very informative, I didn’t even know they had screen reading programs for tvOS. keep up the good work because you are UA-cam video on this subject just altered my life. Now I can go out and purchase a new TV and start watching television again. 16:08

      Awww! I'm so glad! I didn't mention audio description on this video, but that's a big one, too, that would be really helpful. It's not on every show or movie, but there are a considerable number of them that do!

    That's cool that the screen reader was there on startup. I got my Smart Samsung TV a few years ago and I had to get my brother to turn on the screen reader for me.

    • @carrieonaccessibility

      Yeah, it's always frustrating having to have someone turn on the accessibility settings for you. I hate that. How is the Samsung screen reader?

    • @ToughBeifong
      @ToughBeifong 20 днів тому

      @carrieonaccessibility it's okay but I actually never checked the settings for it. I should check and see if I can customize it in any way

    I am so tired of how many hours of my life are taken up by a ton of those agreements every day! Still using my TV from the sixties. Maybe two times a year.

    I am my wife just purchased the LG 65 UHD 7500 UT, PUB television that’s a mouthful anyway we like it so far I really like the fact that the voice assistant was on when you first turn the television on. I’m still getting to know All the functions of the TV but so far so good. I have to buy a wall mount because right now we have it sitting on it stand. Well, I’ll wrap this up. I enjoy your videos and I’ll keep watching. Take care. By the way, the television is a 2022 model.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  13 днів тому +1

      Ah, that's neat! And yes, I love that it is so unapologetic and starts the screen reader right away. I love that! I will say that I struggle with wall mount since I need to be really close to the TV, but I hope you enjoy the new TV! :)

      @@carrieonaccessibility the only reason I want to wall mount is because that’s just a proper place for it. I have RP or macular degeneration doctors have told me both at one point in time my recent diagnosis was RP but as a child it was macular degeneration so I don’t know which one I have to be absolutely honest. That’s a whole different story and too long for this reply anyway back to it. Only thing with my TV it didn’t come with the magic remote so I have to buy that separately now that’s irritating. There’s a few functions on my TV. I can’t utilize because I don’t have the magic remote like speaking to the remote control. The remote I have doesn’t have that function. I have an Alexa device throughout my house and I can’t hook it to my TV properly because again no remote so it looks like I’m going to Amazon SMH. I do understand having to sit close to the TV before my eyes got as bad as they are now that was me sitting really close to the television my family used to hate it, but I couldn’t see for many other distance so whatever anyway as I said, keep making content and I’ll keep listening lol take care

    I have an LG web OS television and a TiVo cable box. Each device has a screen reader. It's a decent combo, although sometimes both voices will go at once

    We have had the LG TV for two years. I didn’t realize it had voice command now with ILG I’ll have to check to see if mine actually has that feature. On mine, you have to press the voice button on the remote to do those activities.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  13 днів тому +1

      Ah, yes, you can have it so that you press and hold the voice input button for commands, but the one I have also allows for hands free voice control.... you ahve to turn it on in the settings, agree to a bunch of stuff ... that agreeing part isn't the most accessible. But the feature availability may be limited to certain models.

      @@carrieonaccessibility Hi, it turns out our TV. Doesn’t have the ability to use voice commands by saying the wake up words. It’s too old. However, pushing the voice button on the remote does do the same thing. At the time we bought our TV, LG had the best quality speech. So it would be interesting to see if Samsung‘s improve theirs now.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  13 днів тому

      @briplr almost makes me want to buy a Samsung TV just to try it out... Almost LOL. Sorry to hear you don't have the wake up word thing, but as long as you have the remote and people don't move it around and hide it, it still works! 🙂

    cool vid of the lg tv. I have tcl roku tv's with the roku tv speakers. prefer that to a sound bar. plus have firesticks plugged in also. so the best of both worlds. easy to turn on the audio guide and audio description with the roku and fire stick remotes. highly recommend. blind user here. yep.

      Roku isn't too bad overall.. I just really do not like the voice. Fire is better for the voice and has a few more features. :)

    Via voice Input you can say audio Guide on or Off. No need for Shortcuts

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  14 днів тому

      I disagree. It's not always convenient to have to talk to the TV. I think there should always be some type of shortcut.

    What do yo mean it has braille? My dad has had this god for saken tv for a year know and I am just learning this? I have avoided using the tv because it has been such a nightmare to try and use. I'm adding this to my favorites to re watch when I have more time.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  13 днів тому

      The remote has braille... a little bit of braille. and some tactile markings. But it's hard to feel and notice since it's so close to the button. It does have a screen reader though and that's really helpful, too. :)

    • @BlindZubat
      @BlindZubat 13 днів тому

      @@carrieonaccessibility My brain didn't even register it as braille. My brain registered it as manufacturing issue with the rubber. Thats why I was so shocked. I know it has a screen reader but the voice controls have been really funky for me. Might be a skill issue on my end tbh.

    I would be really interested to know what you think of google tv. I find my old LG's screen reader doesnt work on most of the apps so I end up casting stuff from my phone but thats not really very reliable because after some time i lose the ability to control it via my phone and then the screen reader on the tv isnt working so all i can do is play and pause and then it wont play follow up episodes and stuff. But the google tv device is cheaper than a new TV!

    It’s a good news LG have some accessibility for TVs! I never knew they have some. For some cheap Google TVs you can buy xiaomi TV stick 4K, or realme tv stick 4K. They are around $50 each. Period. Only you have to be careful with. Xiomi because it like work only with 5 GHz Wi-Fi and work horrible or doesn’t work on two, 5 GHz Wi-Fi at all. As I understand, they both use regular talk back. I personally have. Realme TV stick 4K. It have a little bit more buttons on the remote, but it have problems with turning your TV together with stick, Somi. looks like don’t have these problems because it have a R blaster on the remote, other TV stick have it too, but it works very, very suspect.

    I've got a C9 (which I plan to upgrade to a G5 this year) and it's a bit dissapointing that the user agreement screens are still not accessible. It's almost as if they don't really wanht people to understand what they are agreeing to and just want them to agree blindly, no pun intended.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  13 днів тому

    I am not a fan of the vocaliser Samantha voice, God forbid LG TVs in the UK use that god-awful Daniel compact! That is cool though how the screen reader comes on from the start.

    The Roku TV screen reader sounds like she's drunk and mumbling. It's quite funny. Samsung accessibility is very similar. Most of it's accessible but some stuff isn't.
