For $6500 you can fly to Japan, fill the form of ESP Custom Shop to make 2 illegal Explorers, return home and fly again for them a year after.
You, in fact can not do that. The E-II factory models go for around 2500. Their custom shop in Japan will usually charge something like 6500 for one instrument.
Sweet drywall screws on the bridge of that ESP. 😂

Drywall screws are very versatile and easy to use. No drilling needed.
True but they also break very easily. They don’t have the same hardness that they would use for regular bridge screws.

Gotta love the sheetrock screws holding down the bent piece of metal posing as a 'bridge' on the ESP LTD EXP! The saddle springs are slammed which, if the guitar is intonated, indictes an incorrect bridge location.
When I worked at GC we used to keep the pedal boxes stored for when someone ordered or bought whatever pedal it was. yeah, that never happened and one day we purged this storage area of at least 2000 pedal boxes of varying types. So if you want pedal boxes go to GC and just ask, they will give them away.
That first Explorer is METAL!! And totally worth the asking price.
That last Explorer, did the selling shop say they did the work? Looks like slightly advanced DIY, not necessarily a bad thing, but WAY overpriced!
The Bat-Guitar.... The work is there, but I would've painted it black. Otherwise, you'd really have to guess what it is. And really have to be a Bat-Fanatic to pay any price for it!

Tom Lieber is super well known, he apprenticed under Doug Irwin making Jerry Garcia's iconic guitars and still makes versions of them. He made Pete Sear's famous Dragon bass, an explorer bass for John Entwhistle, and basses for Stanley Clarke. Hallmark is a guitar company known for Mosrite style guitars, and other '60s wacky designs including a batman themed guitar. The "reversed engineered" line is kind of a joke on the fact that this is a reversed version of that guitar.

That $36k guitar - did anybody else notice that the spacing of the Top E tuner is off compared to the others?
I think both E tuners are kinda fucked lol the high E is way too close to the B and the Low E is too far from the A
@@c.harley_17 Looks like they got the first two tuner holes drilled then realized that they'd run out of room on the headstock if they kept the same spacing for the next 5.

The industrial Explorer is actually AMAZING. Better yet, it has a Hipshot, which needs to be standard-issue across the board. AND, it is the Fender 25.5 scale length!

Lieber is known more for making replica Jerry Garcia guitars. Great craftsmanship, but the pricing suggests that they still partake in the “party favors” the Grateful Dead were known for.

The Petra 7 price started out at $42k. It's now reduced by $6,287 dollars, which, for boutique, would be a reasonable price; $6k.

I saw that Peavey Patriot listing and next to it was a listing for the same guitar for 249.00 free shipping. I was laughing my head off.

The Batman guitar, literally, is just a hallmark ornament like said in the listing. From 2019 "Batman Rocks" It's less ugly as an ornament because at least it was dark blue, black, and yellow... going all natural with it, despite the great wood choice? bad idea.
Would the Masterbuilt Petra 7 be a good starter guitar? I live in Dubai.
Just for shits and grins the other day I looked to see if there were any 1980 B.C. Rich Koa Mockingbirds (not the Supreme which has different fretboard markers) listed anywhere. I did this because I had one that I ordered and waited 6 weeks for back in '80. I was stunned to find a few of them, mostly on Reverb. And most of them were about $7,000. Now, I did like that guitar a lot but I didn't love it but it did have lots of sounds and to this day I do love those DiMartzio pickups and I did like the electronics even though I didn't find much love for the Varitone switch. But it played great and the only thing I had to do to it was line the electronics cavity with copper foil because of noise I was getting from the electronics. But the price now? Ridiculous.
That Peavey Patriot does have the original bridge, which IMO are excellent for a plain jane standard trem. The original pickups were superior to most aftermarkets. If you happen to have one and the bottom of the pup says "Schaller" you have a gem. Those pups will drench you in harmonics and will not run away with squeal feedback like a SD will. Bone stock that is a $400 guitar.

The weird guitars can be kinda janky listings... depending on the circumstances. That aluminum explorer looked pretty decent though, as far as homemade guitars go.
The worst are the ones where it's $550 for 3 out of 6 tuning pegs off a 1959 strat...
Or some ridiculous shit like that.
Vintage guitar parts can be expensive. If you're trying to restore a '59 strat and need those tuning pegs, there's only so many of them for sale. Definitely a seat for every ass, ass for every seat kinda scenario.

Where would line be at that point from "reasonable - based on supply/demand", to "absolutely ridiculous" ?

Listing 2: OEM Boxes are valuable in particular to scammers repackaging clones/knockoffs/bootlegs
Listing 3: Even Jol Dantzig (founding luthier/owner of Hamer) or Charlie Hunter (actual musician that builds literal hybrid guitars) doesn't charge that much; also that thing is tacky af
Listing 4: Yep, it's relic'd. It's also been stripped and refinished, then relic'd. Get a Peavey T25 instead - it's a T60 with the icepick setting removed and they kick ass.
Listing 5: If you want your car stereo to also be a guitar
Listing 6: *the Batusi plays in background*
Listing 7: "Wow that guitar looks rough. Is that a headstock repair?" "Yeah but I'm gonna rattle can it some cool camo, ask a pile of cash, and take 500 bucks if some yahoo is dumb enough to offer it."
The last guitar is the kind that I'd look at the guy and say, well someone really screwed this one up I'll give you a hundred bucks for it.

I love Kiesel Guitars. 4,000 would be a high average for a great guitar with a bunch of extras. I figured it out for 32,000 that is 8 guitars, with basically anything a person would want. -There is NO tax, if being shipped out of CA. There is a 10 day return policy. I think for 32,000 -I might get Jeff Keisel, himself on the phone. He may even throw in some complementary swag.- I would have shipped to an out of state address to save 8% on tax alone. I tend to agree with you 99.999% of the time. Marijuana must be legal, in the state he is residing.

I believe Joe Satriani based his Ibanez off a Peavey Predator. So that is expensive, but not outrages. Condition was shite though.
If you’re gonna do a Batman guitar go all out, it should be black or blue. Yellow pickups, the marks should be faces of villains and the headstock should be a question mark. Especially if you’re trying to get 5 figure.
Some interesting options out there. As a woodworker, I am often asked how I justify my prices, I am often told that you can buy similar in a Chinese shop. Well then, off you go a buy it, loser! I see the value in hand crafted things BUT, seriously, some of the prices being asked for these guitars are just off the chart!
The only context where I think the pedal boxes would be reasonable is if they were used as decoration in a studio or somewhere

I only paid $600-$700 for my Dean select Z and it's decked out with Seymour Duncanville custom made hamburgers exclusive to Dean guitars as well as tone pros bridge and hardware, Grover tuners, hard flight case and a perfect ebony fretboard that guarantee blows that ltd away !

11:49 The Batman tuners are centered terribly.. Looks like the tuners to the high strings are placed closer to the edge of the headstock than the lower strings tuners.

That 36k seven string builder probably doesn’t really want to sell. It’s just a way to try and increase the value of their guitar brand. I could pay 20k thinking I’m saving a whole 16k but really still overpaying.
If the Batman was 2 grand and Black with red binding….it would sell out all day long to Batman Collectors.
I know it would be harder to do but I like the look at it first and guess what someone thinks it's worth is just based on the description and the photos... I was WAY off on the one for $35K 😜
