- This is a very easy going, simple and enjoyable rifle to shoot in a very cheap and fun cartridge. The Minox scope is really all I had and would have preferred something smaller but it did fit in with the easy to shoot nature of the rifle. Good trigger, good practical accuracy and beautiful. Still the star of the show is America.
Aaaaaaahhhh the smile on the face after the first shot, love that gun
Awesome video as always, keep up the good work, always wanted one of those single shots
Thanks 50. They slow things down in a good way.
Very cool rifle, especially since it's in 7.62x39. That's some awesome scenery out there, cheers!
Thanks Chris. Cheap and Beautiful ;).
@@LeftThumbBreak I would like to see one in 7.62x54r. The Ruger website does not show the 7.62x39 so I will guess this is custom chambering?
@@b.c.gamingssthey release different calibers every year . I would like to see one in x54r too.
No wonder I can't find a single rifle on my bucket list....you bought them all!
All kidding aside, that's a NICE rifle.
In my opinion your taste in (and collection of) firearms is one of the best on UA-cam/the internet.
Thanks for the incredible scenery too.
Beautiful landscape!
Thanks for watching David. It's a nice one but I have to admit I sold a no. 1 RSI in 6.5x55. That's one that I regret selling for sure. Would have been great packing it out with irons. Appreciate the support.
Hello! I've held only one Ruger No 1 in my time and it was pretty sweet. 300 WinMag. Always saw them in magazines, etc, but holding that one in person impressed me. Yours looks just like it! The scenery you pick is awesome! When I decided to start making videos, your channel more than any other gave me the basic format style I wanted to try. I enjoy other review type talking videos, it's just not my thing. Thanks again for providing us great scenes and action shots of some really cool guns!
Oh man, Thanks Gunsmack. Very much appreciated to know. I really don't talk a lot especially by myself lol, and prefer the country and rifles to do the talking. Thanks again for the support.
The idea of a bipod with a strap is so good. I'm going into my garage to build one right now. Thanks. Superb for my Ruger No 1 in .308.
Another great video,rifle and landscape.
Thanks Jim
That’s A Gorgeous Rifle in Every Way 😮😮😀👍🏼😊 Congratulations
Thanks Chris :)
My favorite caliber
Nice close up on the scope mount !
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 great video as always. I would love that rifle in the Russian or a 44 Mag. I have a No 1 in 22-250 with a 24” barrel that shoots quite nicely. Thanks for all your videos.
very welcome Mark. Thanks for the support.
I like this guy's content formula.
I don't know if he gave it a lot of thought or anything but it sure is enjoyable.
Thanks Bill. I wanted to show shooting in the great outdoors and I always preferred classic guns, so made the channel into this.
@@LeftThumbBreak it's got a Zen vibe that's really cool.
Not sure if you remember but I commented on your 1873 videos and they were the icing on the cake for me purchasing my first firearm at 45 years old. I can't remember being that excited for anything to come in the mail...ever. First, thanks for your videos. The care you take so we really get the feel of what it would be like to shoot the rifle you are working with is done with pride and true love for the weapon. I bought the .357 .38 Deluxe sporting and I am not sure what bullets to buy. I got some .38 at the gun shop but its 40 minutes away and I would rather order on line. I read a bunch of blogs and people were saying .38 specials could be too small and some .357 magnum brands are too bulky. I really don't want to blow my face up first time shooting. Advice? Thanks, Mike
First of all thanks for the support and that must be a gorgeous gun. Really great to hear. As for the 38 specials, if you get the right ones, they work 100%. If not, you will get jams. You can see on the video, I use yellow box remington UMC . cheap and works great. these are 130 grain FMJ. Overall my experience is FMJ round nose 38 specials 125 to 130 grain work great. I also shot Ventura Munitions, bulk FMJ. I had bad luck with any lead semi wadcutters in 38 special, 158grain. For 357, i shot only Ventura Munitions 357, 158 grain and it worked great also. I didn't notice any sort of pressure problems with 357. worked like a champ. This is still my favorite rifle, maybe ever. In any case, don't worry, you can easily single load if you get a load that doesn't cycle, which is fun as well. happy trails.
@@LeftThumbBreak Thank You!!
@@LeftThumbBreak right now all I can find online are Armscor USA .357 Magnum Ammunition 50 Rounds FMJ 125 Grains F AC 357-2N. these should be ok, right?
Very nice looking rifle and nice caliber choise
Thanks Steve. I wanted a gun that is just about the simplicity of shooting.
You nailed beatifull country and rifle. Great video. 👉👍👈🖖
Much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@LeftThumbBreak 👍
Enjoyable video as always and a fine Ruger no 1.
Thanks Mike.
Man I’m loving this Channel, you should do another 45-70 gov’t video. Keep up the good work!
Thanks William. Appreciate the support.
The Ruger #1 may not the most accurate of rifles, at least without some work, but dang if they are not one of the most elegant. God Bless America. And God bless you LTB.
It's one of those guns that shoots well even if the paper groups aren't tiny. Thanks David for the support as always. God bless you and your family. God bless America.
I love your videos
Much appreciated. Thanks for watching.
Wow. Nice. I like to have one of those Rugers too.
They go on sale at times. Got this one bout 750$.
Me wants! Didn’t they made it in this caliber.... nice vid. As always.👍
I've got a No 1 in 30-06, they're lovely rifles. I'm thinking of getting a No 1 in 7.62x39 or 5.56, that would be pretty awesome, I'd love to be able to use cheaper ammo for plinking and practice but still have decent "long" range power. I'll have to keep an eye out for one now...
That was the exact idea. Had a V in 25-06 and just wanted the same elegance in something i could shoot just to enjoy.
Awesome
True 👍
Thanks man! Another great video!
Thanks for watching!
HEY! Where'd you go? These are some of my favorite videos on UA-cam.
Hey Michael. Still here. Just work. Lots of raw video that needs work. Thanks for the support. Its coming. Probably the 1883 original and new footage.
Hey bud hope your doing well. Hope you can put out another video soon. Take care!
Thanks Bud. you too.
Love this!!
Thanks for watching Tim
Very interested in the scope mounts for this rifle. The Ruger #1 is not and easy rifle to mount a scope with the quarter rail, and I'm always looking for an alternative for my 7x57 RSI. Are they available and if so where?
Hi man i really enjoy your videos and hope you upload again. Do you know where you got your sling from in some of your earlier videos on the marlin cb? I know in thr description you mentioned it was an llrp sling but i cant find one like it anywhere
Man, I've been looking at one if these. It looks like you were shooting steel cased ammo. Is the bore on these .311 or .308 like the Mini 30's?
That's a really good quetion. Sorry I didn't check. Just seat of the pants field accuracy was fine though.
@@LeftThumbBreak I found a single post on a forum that mentioned that Ruger used .311 barrels and the .308 barrels were just on the early mini 30s or something.
when will there be new videos? looking forward to!
Thanks Vik. I"ll see what i can do.
@@LeftThumbBreak , I would very much like to see a video with the shooting of the 1895 Winchester!
VERY cool.
*Upload*
Very good 😁
Thanks 😁
Is the barrel .311 or .308? If it’s .311, then it will shoot Russian steel accurately.
Hey brother, missing your videos. How's things in the great wild west?
It's good, sorry about that. It's been difficult to get the time recently.
Aint seen any new vidjas from you for alongst time there. Didja go an break yer left thumb again?
Haha no. It's actually a play on words from my racing days but yes my apologies. Haven't been able to get the time to put together footage.
Hello sir, really nice rifle. And lovely country too! Can you tell me please what make are your scope rings (30mm tube?) and the base setup that you use to attach to the rifle quarter rail. Are these the Burris #410991 items? I have 42 objective Schmidt that is waiting to go on a No.1. Thanks in advance. Regards from United Kingdom.
Thank you. I believe the rings are Warne vertical split. I can't remember for sure the bases, but I believe you're right, they probably are the burris ones. Yes, it's a 30mm tube Minox. Good hunting.
Thank you for your kind reply. Very valuable info. Best wishes sir.
I love Ruger #1s in ANY cartridge! Could you give the info on the mounts? Thanks for the video!
I believe those are tally vertical rings with a Burris Ruger to Weaver adapter base. Thanks Demetrius.
@@LeftThumbBreak cool, I'll look into them, thanks!
Ruger No 1s are especially enjoyable using iron sight, particularly with a Skinner aperture. I have that on my .44 Magnum 20” medium sporter.
@@fanbatcher Nice! I have one on my #1 405 Winchester; like it a lot.
AAC is making ammo that would be great for your rifle
God bless!
I want it
Don’t know if he’s using the Russian steel case ammo, but Ruger advises against it.
Sorry but yep if it's 7.62x39 i am going to use steel case.
Beautiful rifle... but I wouldn't get that piece of art in a 7.62x39 (use that in a Ruger American). Chamber the falling block in a 45-70 or even better a 50-110 😃
Understand where you're coming from
I would trade my Zastava for one of these. I am weird and feel that I should go back to my cowboy action roots 🤷♂️
I went full circle as a kid with SA revolvers and marlins to run n gun stuff and back to old west and basically guns with some soul.
@@LeftThumbBreak My first handgun when I turned 21 was a stainless Ruger Vaquero 45 colt with custom grey tigerwood grips on it. Unfortunately things happened and I had to part with it. Have only recently gotten back into firearms as a hobby. I have bought and traded more things since the start of the "pandemic" than I like to admit. Modern firearms just seem boring to me now though. I have a level of proficiency with a bunch of different platforms, but I always come back to the cowboy action. Just picked up a Super Blackhawk, a 30-30 BFR and an H&R Handi in .223 this past week.
