I’ve had an RST since December 2021 and have about 14,000 miles on it. I’ve been completely happy with this. It’s a joy to drive. The finish is great and the interior is very nice compared to the earlier Tahoe’s I’ve owned. Parts are short on some repairs. I lost a power brake assist about three months ago and it took the dealer three weeks to find one. I’m sure that’s likely with any new car. I thought you did a good job on the report. Thanks and keep up the good work. Tom S.

Duramax NOT available with the Z71 trim level.
New for 2022 the 6.2 available for RST and above trim levels…2021 was High Country only.
As a Z71 owner for five months I think I found the fit…Just right. I have the 5.3….had the 6.2 ordered but another dealer Chad the Z71 5.3 in stock.
Great ride, smooth quiet and responsive.
    Good detailed review Lauren….as always.
Heated and Ventilated seats are RST and above…..Z71 and below have heated front and rear outboard seats.
HUD was nice in the Premier but living decent without it in the Z71.
Background lighting for the overhead console is very poor. I would probably give the overhead console a 4
Design is nice and modern. Especially the blacked out accents of the Z71.
Design gets a 8 and pretty much the only major design flaw is….NO Foglights!!

If this isn't enough for people, they can always step up to the Suburban with the exact same trims and engine specs, just with more room. If you want to be a baller and the Tahoe twin, the Yukon is not enough, there is the Yukon XL, and if you really want to prove your status level and the Tahoe and Yukon's cousin, the Escalade isn't enough either, there is the Escalade ESV. Stepping up to the ultimate 3-row largest vehicles in the segment is only just $2,000 more in their price category respectively and you're still getting everything with the exception of the Escalade and Escalade ESV obviously because you're getting everything and then some that the Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon/Yukon XL aren't sharing because it's a Cadillac. Nevertheless, go big or go home (on the aspect of the extended wheelbase version), right?

So last Saturday I traded in a beautiful 2019 Chevrolet Traverse red line edition On A new 2022 Tahoe cherry tint coat red just like the one you did the review on which was great .I have the sun roof but I don't have the big motor, so far I love It. The biggest drawback however is it does not have the video rear view mirror Like I had in the traverse. It's like flying in 1st class once you've done it you can't go back to coach I really missed that Video mirror . The insurance was no big deal $2 more every 6 months over the traverse I'm an old Feller with a good driving record I used to drive safe and save product with State Farm and my insurance is under 900 bucks a year not bad on the $70000 plus vehicle

The rear view camera in the mirror is not all it’s cracked up to be. The inside rear view mirror is not all that for that matter. Having had three new generation Tahoes and I wound up with clip on panoramic view inside mirrors for all three. A big old ZONK to GM for getting rid of the former flip down….”Nannie cam” mirror.
    The Digital dash is nice.
The slot on the inboard of the parking brake and safety system controls is for parking card, credit cards etc…..if you have Premier or HC that is where the HUD controller would go.
I do like the RST and Z71 for one thing…well two…blacked out accents, grilles and trim. For the Z71 the off road protection…(skid plates.
Easy way to remember the trim levels.
    LS/LT….Volume/fleet entry level etc….
RST/Z71….. some more features but more sporty which combination of luxury and sportiness.
    Premier/High Country:…..mainly luxury… simple as that.
Great vehicle and not as intimidating as it may look for its size. Great view, great ride and great features/value.
Potential 6.2 buyers make note….91 Octane minimum. Here in North Texas not a lot of 91 stations…..most are either 89 or 93.
I had. It thought of the RST before. I was focused on the Z71.

  • @stephencannon3140
    @stephencannon3140 Рік тому +2

Lauren,…….be honest…..did you know what color the tester vehicle was before you picked out the jacket or after?
Lauren provides details without fluff. Informative and meaty while providing thoughts but not forcing them on viewers. She is not the robot like some of the manufacturer “Product Specialists“ are and she can provide independent unbiased objective analysis and reviews.
You definitely want to find the equipment package that has the HD surround vision camera…definitely makes it easier parking…especially nose in parking with the front camera view.
Don’t get too excited about the compartment to the right of the infotainment screen…..maybe a pair of sunglasses….(without case) or a very old school “snicker bar” or flip phone….not lockable so phones not recommended.
Screen is functional and display good but I do not like the look. Looks like they built all the technology and the screen was a afterthought…..we have all this technology…….how do we display and select…..mmmmm???? Like someone stuck the iPad and said…here. Compare to Yukon Denali where the screen is built into the center stack.
No Foglights…. You heard me…they traded the foglight area for ventilation ducts….below the DRL’s
DRL’s are switchback design. As DRL they are white. When in a turn they will switch to Amber then back to white.
Speaking of Amber….rear turn signals are Amber….that is good to me and provides contrast.
Stop/Start: I hate it but 23 Premier had it. I still despise it but getting more used to it. Mainly because the disable button is not in immediate reach.
The 6.2 provides decent economy for a high HP/Torque V8. I was getting around 17-18 during initial 3500 mile road trip….and that was with a average of approximately 76MPH across the Ozarks, Appalachian’s and Blue ridge mountains. Also getting 75-80MPH along sections of North TX and Central OK. Don’t rule the 6.2 out based on MPG as I had previously done. If driven carefully and using cruise to trim the speed then the 6.2 can be a good blend of performance and economy.
Handling is great and many safety and convenience features that are important and pretty common along this class of vehicles even if they may be options. Performance is great and the MRC makes the ride smooth as butter. Having had MRC And Air ride adaptive suspension both are great. The Air Ride maybe smoother but also remember the air arise uses air compressor which does constant cycling especially in congested areas. Place into park at drive thru will cycle down, all that cycling will wear out compressor. Air ride great for towing especially since it should adjust the trailer weight and level the suspension. The max trailering package if included can be a good thing even without towing. Higher capacity and performance cooling system and for my dog….a convenient tethering point for his leash. Can anchor to the trailer receiver but he can still get underneath for shade….come in real handy at car shows….ask me how I know!

Besides the design advantage of the tucked up rear wiper…… reduces the risk of wiper blade getting caught on car wash brushes……with that said……
Get some paint correction, apply a ceramic coating and with a monthly or bi monthly touch ups you should never touch another brush car wash again.
I am with Lauren on the removal of Auto Start/Stop system.
One interior drawback is the wireless Charging pad…..area is too risky for a spill, and damage to either the charging pad, phone or both.
Plenty of storage…..I counted approximately 10 spots to place the cell phone with 9 of them NOT being in a flying projectile shrapnel hazard during emergency braking or collision.
There are six emergency exits on this vehicle….if your really having a bad day. Four doors, rear hatch and if a really bad day through the moonroof.

2 big negatives from my perspective: 1) ventilated front seats are part of top two trims only and not available as an additional feature for lower trims 2) lumbar support in front seats can be adjusted in 2 directions only, which means that it will fit to the average human figures only, everybody smaller or taller probably will not find a comfortable position in there...

This is a nice SUV. I'm not a fan of Google anything being in my vehicle. Now they can spy on you while driving. Fortunately, with Apple CarPlay, you can utilize Apple Maps which is better anyway. Toyota Sequoia has a couple of advantages. Toyota has "DRL off" the light switch. Unlike like General Motors, when you turn off the daytime running lights they STAY off until you turn them back on. With general motors, you must shut off the daytime running lights on every engine start. Everyone hates engine start/stop technology. You may or may not get it with a General Motors car. Toyota does not use this evil "feature". I strongly recommend bench seats in the second row, not captains chairs. The bench seat will give you a nice rectangular surface for cargo. When you have the bucket seats there's a hole in the front that limits the items you can put back there. Seems like something will always fall into the hole.

As much as some folks love the diesel, gasoline would be the better option in my opinion. Diesel will be problematic due to emissions and other electronic issues without a doubt. I am trading my BMW X7 50i for a Tahoe AT4. BMW is beautiful, leather headliner to dash. But I drive 25k miles a year and sick of high maintenance. With supply chain issues I have to order tires every 9 months for $2k, with install and balance and other minor maintenance its always $3k a visit. Performance tires barely last 20k miles. Brakes with labor is $3k, spark plugs over $1. It fast and beautiful but not rugged or that spacious. I spend about 8 to 10k a year just to do scheduled maintenance. Chevy like $1500 at most.
I would rather have a Tahoe fully loaded that I can grind out for 200k miles with low cost of parts and low cost to operate. Then get a weekend sports car that I dive 5k miles a year.
I agree with the cheap plastic look though. The GMC Denali is better but samw cheap GM nobs and buttons despite it being $85k for Denali.

    • @Jassman3536
      @Jassman3536 2 роки тому

@@dudeasp1 I completely agree...but a better comparison is the X7 40I. Tires are somewhat more normal and will wear like what the Americans put on their vehicles. Perf will be on par with the smaller 6 cyl vs the V8's on the GMC. Build quality is much better and as to maintenance I get my oil changes at my local place. I will bring it in at 40-50k mileage and pay the high price for that one Maintenace. I don't have a BMW anymore but an Audi..same differences. We trade every 4 years with about 90-100k on the odometer. Good Luck

Too many digitalization makes for a headache later. I know, my registration was held hostage due to a check engine light issue that couldn’t be fixed. Wish they would completely close the front console for privacy and sleek aesthetic look like the 2008 Tahoe. I like the new engine options and the mileage. When are we getting cooled middle seats?
