Didn't like how it placed the blame for the suicide on the other kids. That's horrible. And Clay keeps saying, in the last 3 episodes "It's our fault, it's our fault Hannah committed suicide". UUUUh No.
Bee Hem Clay was highlighting how they all contributed to her depression. Moral of the story: be mindful of how you treat others because you never know what someone else may be going through. You just might be the person to send someone over the edge.
I do understand the moral of the story, but I think that its dangerous for people to feel they can control or should take responsibility for the actions/decisions of others, especially when dealing with teenagers.
I feel like by this argument, literally anyone in the world can be blamed for someone's suicide which to me is bullshit in some ways. I even legitimately think that she had a lot of responsibility that she failed to accept in the way she dealt with some of the situations but because she is the one who killed herself, the story is going to be on that side. For instance, Clay contributes to her trauma, yet if anything, I thought she treated him terribly. He respected her boundaries and was very slow to approach but the day one of his closest friends died is the day she tries to approach him to tell him the story and he pushes her away because well, his friend just fucking died and he also has his own shit to deal with yet he blamed himself. He literally thought he was part of the reason she committed suicide. That to me was bullshit.
lol y'all are missing the point of the show... its about how people may "look" like they're OK but in reality they might be depressed or suicidal that show taught me to make sure the people I care about are actually fine
Ugh those episode dragged 😩 it was so boring yet I was so invested in it and felt some sort of understanding as it went on I had to finish the entire season lol
It was highly traumatizing and they glossed over all of the real (I.e. mental) reasons why someone would make that choice. I wouldn't advise anyone to watch this series as there are several other more effective and professional resources for this topic. It's trauma porn. P.S. I love your hair, how did you get your bangs to do that thangy thang with the target shrinkage? Love you guys!
hi8747 I'm actually not. I didn't say that the events that happened to her weren't horrific; they were and they were absolutely inexcusable. I'm also not, in any way, saying that high schoolers don't go through that. I did. Literally everything in the series happened to me. My point is this: you can address these grave and severe topics without the shock jock aspect which, as I said, was very triggering. I'm also saying that mental illness and the inability to cope is why teenagers choose to commit suicide - not a succession of events. Millions of young girls experience sexual trauma, harassment, and bullying. I'm even so comfortable as to say that most girls face these traumas. Since, these millions of young women have faced all of these traumas, why haven't every single one of these millions of young women also committed suicide? The mental health and hardiness of a person directly affect the probability of them making that choice. Ergo, the thousands of young people without such trauma who commit/attempt suicide. I feel that it glossed over her mental health. Sexual abuse, death, bullying, harassment are all topics that need to be discussed at length. Just not solely in the context of suicide because that's incorrect. I called it "trauma porn" because the tv crew ignored every warning from psychologists about how they filmed their rape scenes and her suicide. They were told that it would have damaging effects on the viewers and they continued under the bullshit guise of being "raw and real". If they truly wished to help people or bring awareness, every warning would have been heeded and, let's be real, it would have been released for free. I called it porn because it's the exploitation of personal moments for financial gain; which is porn.
I totally agree, I haven't seen the show but I read the book and I was pretty angry that it was a best seller and how they talked about suicide in it. As an adult who used to be a teenager who suffered from depression I understand her BUT as an adult I do think this book and show could have been done better and more educational than straight up depressing and almost promoting suicide.
labellenoire94 what are you talking about ? If you can't handle it then don't watch it they literally have Warnings and if someone who knows they're gonna get triggered makes the choices to watch it then oh well that's their problem
Shay Jackson Saying "sensitive" or "explicit" material has never, in my recollection, including showing someone as they slit their wrists or actual rape. They mishandled it, and I'm staying firm in that.
labellenoire94 I find this as a REALLY shitty thing to say. "Over all of the real reasons why someone would make that choice" ALL those that have suicidal thoughts have valid reasons for doing it. Just because you think that reason isn't "good enough" does not make it invalid. Especially to a person like me. Shit I even had suicidal thoughts in the 7th grade because I felt like I was alone due to one thing that happened to me. One major event at that. It's so ironic of you to call out this show for doing a poor job but you're just like the characters that thought none of the events were a big deal for her to kill herself.
I think the show was a good representation of how teenagers think and what leads them to commit suicide. Plus I like that there was other "hidden" messages or problems going on too. One student was planning a school shooting and another committed suicide as well. There was a lot going on.
Ah I want to watch this series! I have no clue how I found this channel but it's awesome! I don't even have curly hair so these routines are kind of fascinating as well. I had no idea curly hair was so much work yet so versatile.
To me, it's a show based on a book. The book had a specific story. The show took that story and expanded the characters. A lot of people are talking about how the show is terrible for not showing the "real" cause of suicide, that cause being mental illness. But, mental illness wasn't the premise of the book and while it is a factor for a lot of people, every suicide isn't related to mental illness. I also don't think it was too graphic in general. It felt honest and un-sugarcoated. I don't think it makes since to call the whole series dumb because Hannah shouldn't have blamed everyone else for her decision. In real life people blame others for their decisions, people blame themselves, and what you do affects yourself and others. The same comments people are leaving about this show are the same things that are sad under pictures online or video/news coverage when someone actually commits suicide.
Like honestly if you've been in Hannah's position before you'd understand and it shows how every little thing can start to build up things that you're told to brush off but you end up internalizing this show is very relatable....i know personally my freshmen year of highschool I almost became Hannah...i came very close to being committing suicide and the thought of wanting to escape while constantly being told things will get better can become draining especially when it seems like everything is collapsing around...when I tried to tell my school what was happening the guys' parents found out called me a lair and told everyone I ended up being slut shamed, sexually harassed, and like Hannah I was tormented by these people for an entire two years before a forced transfer so to say it's over dramatic is far from the truth...some parents refuse to see their children as imperfect and most will ignore and even cover for there children handling the situation for them highschool isn't how it used to be its alot worse kids a meaner and more aware of how to hurt others...
I completely agree with everything you said. For me, Hannah was a weak and selfish protagonist, and the fact that she didn't even ask her parents for help makes me uncomfortable because I'm sure they would have helped her. They loved her. She was just to narcicistic to see that.
I saw the complete opposite she knew her parents were having their own issues and wanted to manage on her own. I see that as a form of strength wanting to be strong and deal. She wasnt narcissistic... because she was in a lot of pain and wanted to die just when yr suffering people loving you dont get through all the time especially if they seem preoccupied (not blaming just saying parents are people too cant make their kid the center all the time)
RandomCC Yeah This why i don't like blaming. Ppl find it strange that she didn't seek her parents help and or her parents not seeing the drastic change. No one is at fault nothings black and white. Her parents were preoccupied never suspecting this level of suffering and when ppl commit sucide they call those individuals selfish or blame parents both horrible
My favorite podcast (projectfandom, it's on iTunes) reviewed this show and they said this perfect: "people confuse the shows popularity with glamorizing suicide." The show when you really think about it doesn't do that at all. It lays everything out on the table and makes you realize how shitty high school kids can be. But because the show is popular and the actors are getting interviewed and all this stuff, people get it mixed up.
Honestly, I always say the parents were clueless because that was the only way all of this could've happened. Think about all the other kids in the school that wasn't sucked up into their clique - they had strict parents, or parents who at least knew what the hell was going on. It isn't unrealistic, because think about it. These kids could get up at 3 am and ride bikes around town and shit. I'm pretty sure they did that before Hannah committed suicide and they did run into one another often. We know how high school is - you become friends with whoever you see all the time. They all led similarly spoiled, bratty lives, and their parents all let them loose. Jessica was the only one who would've had a strict parent if he wasn't a serviceman and had to leave so much. My point is, they were put into this situation really because of what they all had in common (rich/middle class parents or friends, popularity, or star student status that gave the people around them the impression that they didn't need to worry about whatever the fuck they did cause they're "good kids"). The kids who weren't in the clique most likely had parents who made sure they knew what the hell was going on. Clay and the gang is just a minor subset of kids at the school
the councilor doesn't blame her IMO. He just kind of was saying there's no legal action that can be taken if she won't say who and didn't ever tell him no. This to me makes sense. Hannah's wig was a travesty and I'm still lost on how she could be broken after getting raped but then do NOTHING when her friend gets raped right in front of her. Like girl really?
I don't think the point of the series was to scare people into being nice to everyone but I do think it sheds light on the topic because people don't talk about it until something happen to someone you know. And then when you do talk about its like the cliche of its never that bad or you can talk to someone about it. the response to her death and the fact that the majority of people didn't wanted to not talk about it is the purpose of the show.
So I need some help.... Please?! I myself am mixed, half white half black and I have just plain wavy hair. I have a 6 year old daughter who also has Puerto Rican in her and she has the most amazing beautiful curly hair. But since i don't have curly hair I really don't have much knowledge about hair care, for curly hair. It's really thick and really curly I've been using the products I use on myself but I know it's not doing anything for my daughters hair because it's always dry and gets super tangled. I just need some help to restore the beautiful shine she once had, and bring the moisture back! Can u please help me?!?
Watching 13 reasons why made me cry... I disagree with the people that say it glorifies suicide... I believe they made it so traumatic to watch that people would think twice before making a decision like that (doing the deed as you say) and it also showed kinda how to notice people are feeling alone and everyone needs a friend. It was a great show but it traumatized me to me very soul. I had to cover my screen when she was killing herself it was way too graphic... but at least they didn't lie and sugar coat it.
Maddie Stark that's really interesting to me, that you found the scene traumatic because I've had issues with being suicidal before and I actually thought that scene made it look alot easier than it is. I don't know if you have experience with cutting or not, hopefully not, but you have to go really deep to get to the veins. not something most can accomplish in one swipe. so to me it looked really quick and easy. cool to see not everyone thought that
I think the series is horribly irresponsible content. I don't think the writers or anyone in the production process thought how this show could affect the mental health of the most vulnerable people watching it.
ayanada06 the thing is . It was already a book but since no one reads Anymore they decided to make it into a tv show . I personally liked it because every emotion her parents went through were my emotions when my older sibling took their lives. I feel like it's educational in a way
ayanada06 I read the book years ago. It doesn't have enough detailed content for any form of TV. The book is several years old and was VERY popular among teen and young adult readers when it was in style
ayanada06 coming from someone who is suicidal, it made me realize how people really feel about you. my family and friends would miss me. i disagree with you on this matter.
There were disclaimers before certain episodes AND if someone is mentally ill and wants to commit suicide, they will do it and a tv show about the subject has zero to do with that. If someone wants to do something theyre going to do it.
That's a funny thing to say, considering the TV show is literally about a girl who gave thirteen reasons why she would commit suicide. Can't the TV show also be part of someone else's reasons?
Agreeeeeed!! some parts were dramatic, and I don’t feel like anyone was truly essentially responsible but her. But the overall series was definitely worth the watch.
As someone who has thought about hurting herself, the last episode where Hannah does "the deed" made me see how permanent it actually is and how it would actually be. I believe this is a watch at your own risk show and that this could bend people different ways. I think the length of the episodes was decent, 55 minutes including the intro and outro. People will sit and watch a Crap show based around sex, fame or something else, but won't sit and watch a show that can show you how things really snowball. I've heard people say it shows how weak a women is to kill herself, but at the same time it feels good to finally be able to let down your walls and just be vulnerable. I in no way condone suicide, but at the same time I think we need to look from the perspective of the depressed person and not our perspective as it can be drastically different. I mean, knowing that your parents are struggling and have money saved for college for you, but can barely make rent is enough to want to take yourself out of the equation.
My take on the show me being a teenager in america attending a public high school. As a teenager a freshman out of middle school 13 or 14 you don't know shit(Hannah Baker). You like a guy and you want friends. Hannah is immature and the things she goes through are very representative of millions kids in High school. All the things that occurred to the point of wanting to commit suicide you start playing the blaming game, because those things that happened to you did make you feel that low to decide suicide, and it was a result of that treatment. I think it was realistic. Teens don't talk to parents about their issues if they see their parents having issues or they're being threatened. Teens dont know how to communicate something this scale. Teens dont take responsibility. some of the things she accused people of for her decision were blown to out of proportion because of her degrading mental health which they didnt explicitly say but showed. Idk i see a lot of adults hating on the show cause she didnt seek help from her parents or the show didnt spell it out loud she was also depressed and of coursed those people arent at fault at the end of the day but did help in her process. Most teens I know get it its funny to me the dichotomy. SORRY long post
Great review! I don't know if I want to see because I don't know if I am comfortable watching someone experience what the girl eventually goes through in the movie. Does anyone else feel this way?
This is so late, but I especially liked how they showed how the school and her parents reacted to the suicide. I didn't think Hannah was necessarily placing blame, just trying to tell her story, and that all of the events when added up, made her feel like suicide was her only option. Also, the show really shows how we don't really know what is going on with people, as seen in Jessica, Alex, Justin, and the interactions Clay has with his parents.
Tynnetta M I believe the book explained Hannah's mentality better such as her decision to go to the party and her relationship with her parents. I think they tried to hard to appeal to us as viewers rather than addressing the issue of suicide and speaking out like the book did.
As a person who has dealt with a lot of the issues brought to the surface in 13 Reasons Why I Loved it. I know some people have an issue with it because a lot of people that "DO THE DEED" as you said don't leave a reason why. I think people have to keep in mind that #1....It's not real and #2 teenagers are constantly seeking attention without wanting to stand out. I, unfortunately, could see that entire scenario playing out in real life. The character I hated the most tho was Jessica. Two faced AF...she don't care about nothing but the peen, don't believe nobody but the peen..is only your friend when you can give her a ride or got food..then got the nerve to slap a hoe when her friend tries to look out for her
Bryce and Marcus were obviously douchebags from the start. I'm not saying any of what they did to her was her fault...but it was clear where things were going to go with each of them from the start. Courtney is just a lil gay republican and if anything you feel sorry for this ignorance bubble she's trying to stay in. I have no comment on Justin...but Jessica...WAS HER FRIEND. Not her associate like the rest of them but she was legit her friend. They met up all the time, had sleepovers and everything. Like they said when she lost Jessica she wasn't just betrayed she lost a true friend...and Jessica was fake as hell after that in public acting like they were still cool :/
The series was entertaining but that's about it. As it was a teenage series I did not question a lot of logical things like why in heaven's name someone would knock down a stop sign and not report it to the police because their dad might kill them. Like how will dad know? And even then, would you risk someone else's death just because your dad might find out you went to a party? I most certainly would not and I have a Kenyan mom and African moms are scary as fuck!
I had to re-watch it and honestly I strongly side eye Hannah after she hid and watched Jess get raped. And I didn't get why the kids was protecting Bryce when he was the one that committed the worst offense followed by the kid who stalked her. I also agree that Hannah expected so much from other people but didn't have those same expectation from herself, I felt like the show dropped the ball when it came to her development because clearly Hannah had more issues readjusting.
Wow, this review and the reactions here are disturbing. We, seriously, don't care about each other any more. Granted, Hannah was dramatic and could have been stronger, more thick skinned but she wasn't. I know we all remember being a teenager and feeling every upset was the end of the world. Only now as adults do some of us have perspective. I don't think the series was about Hannah. It's about the people who speak unfiltered and behave selfishly, unaware that their actions can cause a "butterfly effect." It implores all of us to be responsible. Think before you speak.
I don't think Sheri belonged on the tapes. it had nothing to do with her Jessica didn't either. they both did shitty things but nah. Not worth making a tape for. Bryce however. Can go to hell forever and ever.
As a person who has been depressed, contemplate suicide and sexual harassed (not rape but in other forms), I actually find some relief in the show. Maybe not the whole Hannah blaming so many people factor of it but I did enjoy it. Mostly because while most people say that it romanticized suicide, I didn't see it that way. Her death was gruesome and I personally did not have am urge to say, "Yeah. This something I want to do." I thought it shined a light on how painful and terrifying and how sad suicide is. Perhaps she should have spoken more, and actually tried to deal with her depression & called the cops when Bruce raped her, things would have been better. Not completely but a bit. That's just my opinion (As she should have gone out with Zach, irrelevant but small input).
I enjoyed the series quite a bit... well enjoy isn't really the word I'm looking for. The episodes were pretty depressing. I'm not usually emotionally invested in the shows I watch, but 13 reasons why had me shedding a few tears. I do think they could have done a better job of showing or explaining how mentally ill someone has to be to not only attempt suicide but to follow through. I wish someone had mentioned in some way that suicidal people often seem happier and become super motivated before a suicide attempt. I think it would have made her last moments easier to understand for the audience. The parents mentioned something about her having issues with girls at her previous school. If the bullying or whatever had gotten so bad that they felt the need to move her to a new town, the parents should have immediately put her in counseling. Her parents failure in that area should have been the first tape.
some of the things that happened to her was exactly like my high school years...it really pissed me off how the parents were so clueless and proves the point that they need to be more into the school just as much as the child
Hannah was very hard to like in the show. Hannah did try to seek help from her counselor but she also pushed people away who would have wanted her and would be upset when they didn't chase after her. For example, Clay...she also never refers to him as a friend in the show. While there were some things that I believe Hannah took way to hard like Sherry knocking down the stop, which I think she wanted to make her one of the reasons because she felt guilty for not stopping Jessica from being raped that night....I can see how some of the things that happened to her could lead her to suicide.
You know I read the book SEVERAL years ago and waited ANXIOUSLY for the series release and felt so guilty for not making it past the first episode. Everyone talked about how awesome it was but it just felt so boring.
I feel like it didn't portray suicide correctly. It's showing kids not to reach out for help and to blame others. It wasn't the people's fault she died and she's just using suicide for revenge.
Personally I didn’t really like it, I admit some of the stuff she went through of course was traumatic, but at the same time it seemed like she had a princess complex, she expected everyone to go running after her. The counselor to me really didn’t victim blame her (if I’m remembering correctly cause it’s been a while since I watched it) she told him and when he asked who it was she said she couldn’t tell him. At that point his hands were tied, he couldn’t do anything to help her avoid the student if he didn’t know who the student was, she needed to help him help her. Not to mention it seems pretty selfish to take the time to make 13 different tapes to tell everyone what they did wrong, but not leave a note for your parents, who did you think was gonna find you after the deed was done? So now these tapes are circulating amongst 13 different people (and side note in the show the tapes weren’t supposed to actually be shown to her parents, Clay takes it upon himself to show it to them)
It was so dark and morbid. I liked how graphic it was although Hannah was hella annoying and she took some things a little too seriously. But hey, everyone is different. It was super relatable because I went through something similar but I'm still here
Obey Amma they weren't dumb. You have to know that parents minds are not the same as teenaged minds. They don't go through the same things as she did in high school.
Anon w Exactly. Different times, different methods. It broke my heart to see the suffering the mom and dad were going through. Plus, how many kids are opening up about the day to day of their lives. My 16 yr old won't tell me anything about himself, but I keep trying. It's hard raising teens nowadays
Jay Carlette Clay's parents were by far the worst (actually the strung out mom allowing her boyfriend to choke her son was the worst). But there is no way in hell my son could come home at all times of the night with his face busted up, skip school, and tell me taking a shower is too much pressure. Wtf
Obey Amma honestly the parents were like most parent they didnt really know everything about their daughter because they were too busy with work they knew she had issues at school but they didnt know to what extent because Hannah like many kids her age hides her problems
I'm super late but I thought the series just glorified using suicide as the ultimate revenge on your frenemies. Some of them did really horrible things but still....
All these people ragging on Hannah, I wonder how many have actually suffered a mental illness or know someone closely that does, especially one that is borne heavily from external factors manifesting and not solely or mainly biological... lol she didnt overreact too much, if at all. The only bad thing was the development of her relationship with her parents because it didnt seem like they were people who wouldnt listen to her concerns at least about Bryce assaulting Jessica. I cant remember where in the story that happens so her ability to reason properly might already be diminishing by then. dunno people forget a kind classmate also died due to a mistake she made with a friend - that guilt plus the guilt of her friend being assaulted in one night. Plus everything else. none of you have a sense of perspective....unless this is what you americans get up to in your spare time
I haven't watched the series, not something I'd be interested in, however you seemed to highlight just enough. The real reason for commenting-now Nikki, you and Evelyn are the BEST- together and separate...but girl!!! The hair is ummmm, not shahpopping on this day at this time...I liked the BEFORE bettah! Love and kisses though.
I just hate that it has to take a show to tell people that bullying is wrong. Plus, the show was boring. I got more than halfway through. I should finish it, just to be able to explain to others, in further detail, of why it isn't a good show. I just hate that everyone is on the bandwagon now.
I think the show was just depressing af. I only watched the first episode and it had me feeling all this pain when I was perfectly fine. I am not suicidal, but people who are might take this show the wrong way. Over all, I'd probably give it 1 star. It was just so ugh
I feel like, if something happened to you and you get triggered, you shouldn't have watched the show. I don't get why people haven't looked out for themselves but instead chose to ignore warnings. The show is EXTREMELY graphic.
I only made it to like the first 2 or 3 episodes where Hannah is kind of overreacting to some things, and she is not a likable character. I agree that the show is tedious, which is why I never finished.
i feel like their could've been much better ways to promote suicide awareness like they were trying to do it was just a really bad representation of mental illness
Tbh Hannah was a damn punk lol rape is tough to deal with so I get it but the other stuff for me was not that deep. I think the show was definitely overhyped to the max
I don't think the counselor victim blamed her. He was trying to understand and she didn't explain her self well or didn't talk about her predicament. She was quiet. And do was clay. So how do you expect things to change if your always on the sidelines or breathing heavily, or to yourself? People can't read your mind. This series frustrates the hell out of me! Especially Hannah and clay, but mostly clay. How is it anyone's fault that she died? It's no ones fault so stop trying to tell people who they are when you didn't absolutely nothing when you even saw yourself that she wasn't being herself.
Hannah's short wig in the later episodes was tragic
Obey Amma I agree....that wig pissed me off so much....I was like what cheap local hood wig store did y'all go to for this roflll
YAAAASSS! That thang got on my nerves!
All I wanted to was pluck the non-existent part :/
Lmao facts!
SOOOOOO tragic - Nikki
He literally thought he was part of the reason she committed suicide. That to me was bullshit.
Especially the way she blamed clay. He loved her and she told him to leave her alone, and he did... so it's his fault he listened to her? The hell...
lol y'all are missing the point of the show... its about how people may "look" like they're OK but in reality they might be depressed or suicidal that show taught me to make sure the people I care about are actually fine
Ugh those episode dragged 😩 it was so boring yet I was so invested in it and felt some sort of understanding as it went on I had to finish the entire season lol
SAME!!! I wanted to quit every single time.-Nikki
Hannah was the most frustrating character
Obey Amma fr
She definitely was
Obey Amma I agree so much
Obey Amma honestly
She was annoying tbh.
So glad I saw your review before I actually watched the show. I don't think I can really handle the graphic scenes you mentioned
I called it porn because it's the exploitation of personal moments for financial gain; which is porn.

labellenoire94 what are you talking about ?
Clay *IRKED MY SOUL* with his over compensating lone white savior narrative.
What's the hair brush she's using?
Clay and the gang is just a minor subset of kids at the school
i could not stand hearing the skin rip and tear as she cut her arm... that shit was just gushING EEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
the councilor doesn't blame her IMO.
Hadn't watch the show but I have read the book it been a few years but I remember it being good.
I read the books years ago and I haven't heard good things about the series. I'm still going to watch it though. Lol. Great review!
I don't know if you have experience with cutting or not, hopefully not, but you have to go really deep to get to the veins. not something most can accomplish in one swipe. so to me it looked really quick and easy. cool to see not everyone thought that
Kailyn Anderson jeez that sounds really scary I hope you're feeling better ❤️
I love your personality so much!!❤️
Agreeeeeed!! some parts were dramatic, and I don’t feel like anyone was truly essentially responsible but her. But the overall series was definitely worth the watch.
I read the book...haven't seen the series
13 reazobs why was the best show ever this year I agree with most of the things you said too
As someone who has thought about hurting herself, the last episode where Hannah does "the deed" made me see how permanent it actually is and how it would actually be.
I love the color in your hair! What color is it?
Great review! I don't know if I want to see because I don't know if I am comfortable watching someone experience what the girl eventually goes through in the movie. Does anyone else feel this way?
This is so late, but I especially liked how they showed how the school and her parents reacted to the suicide. I didn't think Hannah was necessarily placing blame, just trying to tell her story, and that all of the events when added up, made her feel like suicide was her only option. Also, the show really shows how we don't really know what is going on with people, as seen in Jessica, Alex, Justin, and the interactions Clay has with his parents.
I love 13 reasons why this show explains what I'm going through at school
What kind of brush are you using ??
what's ur brush called?
I wanna do one 😭😭😭!
This series was based off a book. Has anyone read the book and if so is the series completely different or similar to the original book?
Tynnetta M I believe the book explained Hannah's mentality better such as her decision to go to the party and her relationship with her parents. I think they tried to hard to appeal to us as viewers rather than addressing the issue of suicide and speaking out like the book did.
Oh ok. I binged watched the series and it is different from the book.
Two faced AF...she don't care about nothing but the peen, don't believe nobody but the peen..is only your friend when you can give her a ride or got food..then got the nerve to slap a hoe when her friend tries to look out for her
how can people hate jess more than all the other really problematic characters like Justin, Bryce, Marcus, Courtney and some more?
Its being promoted to tweens. School districts here in Vancouver sent home letters regarding this show.
Yasssss she knows who Jade is😍😍
I love watch and go!!
watch Chewing Gum!! 🔥✨ I love how you just embrace the frizz😂 btw #hellamotivational #shadefreecomment
Ok someone voiced what I was feeling better then I could. I read the book but didn't watch the series.
I had to re-watch it and honestly I strongly side eye Hannah after she hid and watched Jess get raped. And I didn't get why the kids was protecting Bryce when he was the one that committed the worst offense followed by the kid who stalked her.
I also agree that Hannah expected so much from other people but didn't have those same expectation from herself, I felt like the show dropped the ball when it came to her development because clearly Hannah had more issues readjusting.
recently started watching 13 reasons why
Wow, this review and the reactions here are disturbing. We, seriously, don't care about each other any more. Granted, Hannah was dramatic and could have been stronger, more thick skinned but she wasn't. I know we all remember being a teenager and feeling every upset was the end of the world. Only now as adults do some of us have perspective. I don't think the series was about Hannah. It's about the people who speak unfiltered and behave selfishly, unaware that their actions can cause a "butterfly effect." It implores all of us to be responsible. Think before you speak.
2 stars is all they deserve
I don't think Sheri belonged on the tapes. it had nothing to do with her Jessica didn't either. they both did shitty things but nah. Not worth making a tape for. Bryce however. Can go to hell forever and ever.
Denisha Cook I understand why jessica being on the tapes
I loved that show very graphic tho
lmao there are so many reasons why I can't stand 13RW, but my saltiness aside, this channel is so cute like everyone on the channel is adorable.
Hannah legit gave me a headache!😤
I love 13 reasons why
some of the things that happened to her was exactly like my high school years...it really pissed me off how the parents were so clueless and proves the point that they need to be more into the school just as much as the child
Loved it
Hannah was very hard to like in the show.
Nikki what is your sign!!
You know I read the book SEVERAL years ago and waited ANXIOUSLY for the series release and felt so guilty for not making it past the first episode. Everyone talked about how awesome it was but it just felt so boring.
forget thirteen reasons why and watch the get down it is also on Netflix and SO much better
I feel like it didn't portray suicide correctly. It's showing kids not to reach out for help and to blame others. It wasn't the people's fault she died and she's just using suicide for revenge.
macadamia professional is my holy grail.
the most depressing thing ever.
It was super relatable because I went through something similar but I'm still here
The parents were dumb af and exactly I don't know if anyone could have stopped her
Obey Amma they weren't dumb.
I didn't understand why she did it until the end! Tragic.
One of you guys should really do Dear white people. It's SOOOOOO good.
her hairrrrrr omfg i wish
Plus everything else.
none of you have a sense of perspective....unless this is what you americans get up to in your spare time
doing a season 2 of this yet cancelling The Get Down 😑
Evelyn should have talked about this
I haven't watched the series, not something I'd be interested in, however you seemed to highlight just enough. The real reason for commenting-now Nikki, you and Evelyn are the BEST- together and separate...but girl!!! The hair is ummmm, not shahpopping on this day at this time...I liked the BEFORE bettah! Love and kisses though.
Ha! Nikki, here. I know. I know. I looked at the footage afterwards, and it was too late man. Looked better the next day. :)
The show was mediocre asf
I just hate that it has to take a show to tell people that bullying is wrong. Plus, the show was boring. I got more than halfway through. I should finish it, just to be able to explain to others, in further detail, of why it isn't a good show. I just hate that everyone is on the bandwagon now.
I think the show was just depressing af. I only watched the first episode and it had me feeling all this pain when I was perfectly fine. I am not suicidal, but people who are might take this show the wrong way. Over all, I'd probably give it 1 star. It was just so ugh
Hannah never really did anything wrong and she didn't overreact either.
White people complaining: The Netflix Original Series :)
I feel like, if something happened to you and you get triggered, you shouldn't have watched the show. I don't get why people haven't looked out for themselves but instead chose to ignore warnings. The show is EXTREMELY graphic.
Woah...no. Not gonna watch this. Thanks for the review-I'm good. 👌🏾😊
😆@ "poodle status"
I couldn’t finish this lol
I only made it to like the first 2 or 3 episodes where Hannah is kind of overreacting to some things, and she is not a likable character. I agree that the show is tedious, which is why I never finished.
You are so cute!
i feel like their could've been much better ways to promote suicide awareness like they were trying to do it was just a really bad representation of mental illness
How dare she give 13RW 3 stars 🤦♀️ SMH
The book was so much better than the show honestly.
I dont think the show was realistic Hannah was so desperate to have friends that she put herself in positions to get screwed over.
Tbh Hannah was a damn punk lol rape is tough to deal with so I get it but the other stuff for me was not that deep. I think the show was definitely overhyped to the max
Ugh sounds like Riverdale X Pretty Little Liars 😰
The books are usually better.
review shameless lol
I don't think the counselor victim blamed her. He was trying to understand and she didn't explain her self well or didn't talk about her predicament. She was quiet. And do was clay. So how do you expect things to change if your always on the sidelines or breathing heavily, or to yourself? People can't read your mind. This series frustrates the hell out of me! Especially Hannah and clay, but mostly clay. How is it anyone's fault that she died? It's no ones fault so stop trying to tell people who they are when you didn't absolutely nothing when you even saw yourself that she wasn't being herself.
ive like two anxiety disorders and watching it would trigger a panic attack lmao. also the reviews dont seem that good??? seemed a bit overrated : I
Yeah this show sucked. I thought it would be amazing. Sadly it wasn't. Good message though.
I'm so glad you didn't like it. Oh my gosh. What an awful show.
Yeah the show was booboo lol I watched the first 4 episodes and I turned it off.
