that launch at the start was where i was wen i was last there. i found the trout to b in bad condition wen i was there last. now they should b prime condition found winter to b better for trout fishing. despite not having a good experience definitely keen on tackling the trout lake again at rotorua
yeah I think they won't be in much better condition in winter either. Perhaps a little fatter. The other lakes around Rotorua are much better. Our next video will be about Lake Tarawera. A difference like night and day.
@@PeterMacGrergor Okay :) Well then I guess it wasn't lake Taupo, haha. I don't want to put out any false information but I could not find any restrictions on treble hooks for Lake Rotorua. Perhaps you can share a link if you know where this rule can be found?
@@PeterMacGrergor there isn't any general ban on treble hooks. It depends on the regional regulations. Like Taupo for example clearly has a ban on trebles but I don't think Lake Rotorua has. At least I can not find this in the rule books. The rules for all regions can be found here: www.fishandgame.org.nz/
not sure if you know thiss but lake rotorua has had effluent pumped into it years ago and is still contaminated to this day. maybe less so ngongotaha side but i would still be wary.

@@Fishingreminder oh finally haha waited for a long time for ur lake tarawera adventure.
cheers for the video guys. Makes me wonder if the eels in that lake are getting hungry and starting to feed on the trout
thanks mate. Interesting thought. I only suspected the shags were attacking the trout so far.
Wonder if eels would do that.
Thanks for video
Interesting about condition of fish
If you around the Waitaki River in march next year I could take you to my favorite Salmon spots
cheers mate, that would be awesome
Oh ho! I want to catch salmon too! It will be fantastic 🎉
Sorry you’re not invited
Sorry you’re not invited
The damage will be from the shags mate
cheers, yeah that makes sense. There were lots of shags about :)
Another great trip by the look of it. Those trout were a bit odd with that skin problem
thanks, yeah pretty much all trout were like that. Definitely not the best lake to catch trout for food.
Which model is your favourite rapala?
I think most success I had with the CD-5 rainbow trout pattern.
@@Fishingreminder thanks pal
Cormorant attack damage, they are everywhere eating 6lbs of fish a day!
yeah there were lots of them around
The scars and wounds are from Shags or Cormorant attacks.
I am pretty sure treble hooks are illegal. They were when I fished the lake years ago.
you might be confusing this with Lake Taupo
@@Fishingreminder born and bred Rotorua.

O that sucks, I didn't know that. Who would do such a thing? No wonder the fish look like that.
our council isnt the brightest bunch and thought so thats why you dont see any one here swimming in it because of that reason.
