2000 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Upper Radiator Hose Replacement

- I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota 4x4 SLT extra cab with 4.7 liter V8. I noticed my battery was getting wet with antifreeze, but I didn't see it spraying through the cracked hose until I revved the engine. It wasn't overheating, but it would have before long. I kept topping off the antifreeze til I figured out the solution. The old hose broke in half at it's connection to the integrated radiator cap when I removed it. If that had come apart while driving, I would have been stranded. Pretty easy fix. Cost about $36 for new hose, plus another $12 for antifreeze.

Good video! Thank you sir
You must wear eye protective and gloves !!!
is this guy kidding ,he doesnt know what the coil s for inside the hose ..
Curious, what is the coil for?
@@markservais4259 to keep it from collapsing either by age or if it creates a vacuum ..a garden hose will do the same
@@thecoondog56 thanks. I had to change my water pump and Napa explained it to me.
I have a 2000 v6 Dakota and I was wondering what the name of the parts were, I wanna replace mine but I just wanna be able to get the right parts first
This is happened to me right now
Looking at this in 2020 for my 2002 DD 4W Crew Cab, V6. I love this truck! The planned and spontaneous instructions in this video are both educational. Even though I will take my truck to my usual mechanic, having an idea of the problem helps me communicate better with my mechanic. I also get a better idea of how much labor and cost is required. Thank you for this tutorial.
I was able to do this part myself. I have mechanics do the stuff that requires a lift or more experience and tools.
Gteat video ! Thanks I have the same truck and color only a v6 . Need to do the same repair .
I did the same with my truck, if anybody needs to do the same, get better hose clamps.
Jesus Ramirez I agree!! Great point
I'm getting 2 1/4" metal clamps that has a Phillips head to tighten clamps. I'm doing this same thing to my truck.
Steven Binz make sure you get the hose on far enough or else it will seep . Had to trim my hose on one side to make it sit better against the radiator .
@@joesmith-fi1sx will do thanks!
Good job,
Your engine is very clean for the truck's age and mileage. I would've replaced the lower hose and thermostat as well for preventative maintenance, then you know your good for a long time with fresh long-life coolant. Great job explaining the steps & giving advice as to what to watch out for during install.
I had that done recently. Probably will need to replace radiator some day.
