This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 155 subs and almost 75 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I’m 68 and playing a hybrid percussion kit I created all the time. This video has convinced me that I will continue to get better on it.

    Good video. Thanks!
    1. FIXED mindset - A set of people have a core belief: Everyone has a set amount of intelligence (a gift). So, to avoid being perceived as dumb/not smart, one MUST suppress any chances of making mistakes. That leads to a non-productive behavior, i.e. avoid challenges, lose interest, and stop trying.- 0:50
    2. Growth Mindset - Another set of people believe that talent and intelligence are not gifts, but they have to work hard for them, AND with the right strategies and effort they can get better at anything - 2:42
    3. Improving Your Brain's Cognitive Abilities - a. Grow: more time put on a task increases the number of neurons associated to it, b. Speed up: focusing intensively, during a period of time, on a given task activates myelination, which allows information transferring at x10 faster than axons w/o myelin , c. Re-wire: purposeful practice activates different areas of the brain to work more efficiently - In summary, practice, under right amount of stress, and time helps to improve, and achieve goals - 3:40
By understanding how growth mindset works, and applying strategies and practice, courage and confidence grow.

    Nathan,
It is amazing how you speak with no stutter now. I would have never thought that. My son is 3 and has a speech delay so while not the same thing, this is still good inspiration! This was one of the best books I have read. Easily in my top ten, maybe top five. This summary was right on point.

this book changed my life and my worldview forever.
it helped why you are feeling negative emotion toward all kinds of your relationship.
it worked, really worked. it make you aware of yourself ,not disciplining yourself, yet self-awareness followed with natural development ,not straining your mind toward fixed certain ‘magic’ remedy , but it opened you up and make you see positive outcomes, that seem impossible for other ppl.

I've cried at times thinking I'm not smart enough to do something. That has stopped me so many times from taking a challenge. From doing something that interested me. I wanted to do it but felt I wasn't smart enough.
It even hurt the relationship with my family. I just wasn't a happy person. No confidence. No motivation. I didn't feel like I could anything other than basic things.
That's a difficult situation sir a man to be in.

Thanks for your effort! You did a great job! I was familiar with these kind of mindsets, I've been trying to develop a growth mindset, however I have experience some limitations, e.g. anything related with math...at school I used to struggle with it, but I kept studying harder so my grades went up...but this effect didn't last...when I was at the university I struggled again with statistics...same story, I work harder, my performance increased, but now I am struggling again...I feel like I always have to put a very large amount effort into this and sometimes with a bit of success, but on the long run, without developing the skill of being good at math or with numbers...:( can anyone relate?

A school teacher once said :- " Look that child is god-gifted he always comes first in his class!"
Another teacher said to her :- " Everyone is gifted we just have to find out what our gifts are if you think the other children aren't god-gifted it means we have not yet found what gifts lie with them . "
As for me I believe it is a gift until you achieve it once you achieve it is just an addition to your repertoire .
