The old movie clips they used in this music video (the ones depicting the war) are scenes from movies about Audie Murphy and Audie Murphy is playing the role of himself in them.
You are totallt correct, this song needs the higher tone and it´s wonderful how you played it. But I would love to hear it with a piccola flute or something simular. Great reaction and hope to see more. All the best from Sweden.
Sabaton addad the flute to mimic the music from the Spaghetti Western Movies that Murphy acted in after the war. It's the only one of their songs that has this flute.
Audie (pronounced "Awe-dee") Murphy was a true American hero. I like how Sabaton used scenes from the movie about him in their video. Have to say that I prefer the acoustic version.
The movie footage that played during Sabaton's video is actual clips of Audie Murphy playing himself in a movie that was called "To Hell and Back" (which was about him, and named after his autobiography). As someone else pointed out in the comments, the flute was to give the song a Spaghetti Western vibe to the song. Sabaton also has a history channel on UA-cam, where they explain the history behind the songs they sing about. Here is the link to the "To Hell and Back" episode, if you are interested in finding out more. ua-cam.com/video/n0PriUnAJ3U/v-deo.html
If you're thinking of reacting to another Sabaton song, I would suggest the official music video of Christmas Truce. It doesn't include a flute (as far as I know), but it's a beautiful song. It took them several years to write it. With any Sabaton song, but especially with Christmas Truce, be sure to play the entire video, including the credits.
Sabaton also has their very own "Sabaton History Channel" on youtube where they cover the history behind the song for this song -ua-cam.com/video/n0PriUnAJ3U/v-deo.htmlsi=gch1rFq6JII-VEPm - and his poem "The Crosses Grow on Anzio" - Oh, gather 'round me, comrades; and listen while I speak Of a war, a war, a war where hell is six feet deep. Along the shore, the cannons roar. Oh how can a soldier sleep? The going's slow on Anzio. And hell is six feet deep. Praise be to God for this captured sod that rich with blood does seep. With yours and mine, like butchered swine's; and hell is six feet deep. That death awaits there's no debate; no triumph will we reap. The crosses grow on Anzio, where hell is six feet deep. . . Audie Murphy, 1948
@@ClaireHoldich You're very welcome. The majority of Sabaton songs might not be your thing (unless you're into history), since they're heavy metal. However, I think you would like these three. (I don't think they include a flute, though, unfortunately.) Sabaton - Christmas Truce (Official Music Video) Sabaton - 1916 (Official Music Video) (this is a cover of a Motorhead song) Sabaton - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg) (in Swedish, so be sure subtitles are on; the lyrics are always important with Sabaton) All three would make good reactions, but especially the official music video of Christmas Truce. With any Sabaton video, be sure to play the entire video, including the credits.
An interesting listen. Original and first version rough and ready for battle. 2nd version is more presentable and beautifully flutifully excited. Ja, das stimt gut 😎💙🙀👍
I will check out both bands later, Claire. I will respond more on the Ko-fi page but generally I like the acoustic version better. I am not a big metal fan.
Some of the lines in the song are from a poem Audie Murphy wrote after the war called "The Crosses Grow on Anzio." Sorry, I prefer the metal version, the acoustic singers voice does not have the same impact as the original; too sweet and no grit.

You might want to watch the official music video of Christmas Truce. If you do, be sure to let it continue playing during the end credits.
